5:00 I simply don't understand how releasing colored variants of an album is taking advantage of anybody. Nobody is forced to buy 24 copies of the same album, and if someone feels taken advantage of because they have a shopping addiction and can't stop buying the same album over and over, that's not Paul McCartney's fault. Companies want to make money, and they will maximize profits however they can. It's up to the consumer to vote with their wallets. The modern consumer cries about prices/variants/cash grabs on the internet, and then lets FOMO get the best of them the next day, and they quietly buy the product. People complain but they still pay. The company doesn't care, and they will happily take your money. Releasing variants allows the causal collector to feel like their copy is a bit special and unique, and nobody is forced to buy ANYTHING. People talk about record collectors like they're 7 year old children. They are grown adults who choose to part with their money for a product. It's up to them to buy or not buy a product. nobody is grabbing your money at any point, you are willingly handing it over. Toyota releases their Corollas in 7 different colors! How horrible of them to take advantage of the average car buyer! How can the average person afford 7 Toyota Corollas? They are being taken advantage of! Such a horrific Cash Grab from the Automobile Industry!
I don’t think I ever make my point clear. Everything you just said is right and valid. No-one is forced to buy this stuff. Where the ‘taking advantage’ bit comes into play is that the companies know that there are those people that will buy EVERYTHING. The completist. And there’s loads of Beatle fans like that. So for me the taking advantage is a mixture of the amount of (for example) colour variants AND their cost. The record companies are doing what they should be doing… ceasing on a huge market to make loads of money. I guess the point is I don’t like it. Especially the inflated cost of vinyl. £1350 for the Mind Games boxset. £600 for the McCartney singles boxset. (That seems like a bargain compared to the Mind Games boxset 😂 ). So I guess what I’m saying is… YOUR absolutely right, BUT I’m also allowed to think that, maybe, collectors are being taken advantage of. Coz the price tag on these things are mental. Which I hope you can agree to. Thanks for your comment. Really got me thinking. I might do a video explaining all this.
Totally concur. "I can't imagine..." (there is irony here) indeed. May I add a bit more irony courtesy of Lennon, from the same test - "No need for greed..."
These meditation mixes are beautiful and really creative. But the vinyl editions, like most vinyl today, is too expensive for its own good. Happy for those who bought it and will enjoy it, it's just not for me or my bank account. I'm so glad the meditation mixes are coming to streaming as well though, I'll listen there, happily and chill out to John remixed by Sean.
The poor image quality is in the trailer they released. I’m commenting on that. I’m hoping that it’s just the trailer!! They released Jet recently and that looked great (blurry but great).
I've recently picked up reissue of Radiohead's OK Computer (3 LPs) for 32 € which is fair. No new Macca or Lennon for me. The Mind Games 'Meditation Track' sounds horrible with the reverbs, echoes and delays... If I'd ordered it, I'd return the package and wrote in complaint that the recorded material sounds awful and if that can be fixed. :-)
It is a crime that the streaming, wich kills music is so cheap and that fysical product that supposes to emphasise the love for that music is becoming so expensive. And its mindboggling that artists like Dylan/NeilYoung/Pinkfloyd/Beatles sold their rights to the corruptest industry ever....These cashgrabbing releases and the socalled re-masters (in most cases just volume up! or Bass to the foreground (Grundman) enticing the public to reinvest in what they allready have at home. It is legalised robbery. Look a record even 50 years ago should have been the best release ever of a sound in the studio. So if that was not good enough...we were robbed from good sound first time arround. Not only that...on recordsleeves were our 'heroes' but who was really playing? Who got the royalties, how many young lives were destroyed by inband rows (Fleetwood Mac the most famous one), Syd Barrett/Nick Drake/Skip Spence/Beefheart/Hendrixx all suffered from the pressures and dealings with the recordindustry. Pete Thownsend who told that he could make money from live shows but hardly ever got paid from the record sales. And now we have to accept this shit of € 1300,- boxsets etc.etc?
It’s odd that people refer to ‘solo Beatles’ The solo work was their deliberate attempt to stop being Beatles. It’s good marketing but it’s not really how it happened. Not one of the said, I’m a solo Beatle now.
If you own the original CD version of the McCartney releases it is foolish to buy these Collectors freak out and buy them again Apple knows this also!!! The Lennon meditation music is a complete waste of money but collectors will buy it!!! You have the courage to call this a cash grab unlike the other Beatles channels who fawn over everything that comes out!!!
I aasume "all big audio corporates use Ai to enhance the sound thus these releses -so its more than getting slide the pitch higher - removing noise - taking the drums and let the ai assume how it would have sounded if dont in digital studio bit with these old albums they cant get away with this Yet - so they I asusme do approximation how a little bit bettr job would sound -i cant thrust big companies now so would you listeners not do also
The Lennon camp is really milking Mind Games for it to just be an “okay” album. I would expect this kind of thing from Imagine or Plastic Ono Band, but Mind Games? Really?
Fully agree.... lennons Mind Games lp was and i.m.o. is still crap. I was 15 years old in 1973 when this lp was released and already then i was not very happy with it. Now so many years later i still think this lp is crap. Lennons best lp i.m.o. was and still is Walls and bridges. Then you can hear he was relaxed and creative again. That lp restored my faith in Lennon. Mind games is just full of "sorry Yoko" songs and other rubbish. Restored or remixed... if the material is crap it will stay crap. And yes I fully agree with you...moneygrabbing by both estates.
I did a Mind Games review (check it out). It’s not an album I’ve ever really listened to. I found that I only liked half the songs and said so. I got a bit of stick in the comments. It’s some people’s favourite Lennon album!
Don't understand the logic of releasing all these remixes, when what a lot of fans (especially us oldies who are still alive), want is the previously unreleased stuff. Obviously, we realise its quality may be doubtful in some instances (Castle of the King of Birds, etc.) but things like the Hamburg live recordings can (obviously) be cleaned up using Peter Jackson's technology. Why isn't that a priority?
I think it’s important to remember these release are made by a corporation, with shareholders, that need a profit. I love to think about the story where McCartney and Lennon started Apple records for altruistic reasons. It’s a story, a fiction. Apple records is a corporation like any other corporation. John Lennon and Paul McCartbey are not involved. It’s just a company, with a product. That’s it. Shareholders making money. These cash grabs are getting out of hand. It’s honestly annoying and disappointing that a corporation is in charge of Beatles- they want money and nothing else. We, as fans, need to always remember this is a corporation with a product to sell.
@@dinnerwithgreedo true, nonetheless it’s not the “artistic freedom enterprise” that Lennon and McCartney started. It’s a nice mission statement, and a great story. but 50 years later Apple and Lenono are corporations now, run by people in suits whose only objective is profits. .
I’m not interested in the Lennon release. On one of your videos you showed a ‘ greatest hits’ gimme some truth album and I bought it instead of the more expensive ( and fewer tracks) mind games album. For me the Lennon material is exhausted. The McCartney film is interesting as it shows him at his peak but I doubt I’ll bother dragging my sorry backside to see it. I have the one hand clapping album and that’s all I need. As for the McCartney cds ,I won’t be bothering.
You're the first person I've encountered that says those McCartney tapes were not lost! Do you have a video about it you could connect me to. I actually believe you. You don't have any reason to sugarcoat anything. You've been pretty honest about how much you like the music. How much you don't like the over commercialization and repackaging over and over again of similar and not very different stuff. So I take what you say to the bank. Time to make another deposit!
It’s in that McCartney Legacy book. He took copies to Lagos and it was these that were stolen. NOT ONLY THAT… that got mugged AFTER McCartney had finished recording the album!
Good video, but I ain't buying none of the crap mindgames is the only song which is any good ,mccartney one hand clapping is shite I'm sick of it all I want is The Beatles Rubber soul box set next then the rest of The Beatles catalogue not the mccartney or Lennon 1970s stuff.
As much as I love the Beatles, Surely this cash cow thats been milked to death, should be buried. Ffs. I haven't and wont be buying any of this over priced crap. McCartney as much as I luv him, his voice is pretty much shot nowadays, and I don't say that to be mean. He's an old man now and age has just taken his voice sadly, and that can happen with age, and its not great anymore, but no one wants to tell him because he's Sir Paul the living legend, so everyone keeps saying oh yeah that was great Paul. When your an Icon with his stature, you are just surrounded by yes men who see pound and dollar signs. He has to rely on his band to carry/prop up a lot of the vocals live, and in the studio, tech to make his voice sound better. I luv his music, he's an icon, but I prefer to listen to his past work when he was still at the top of his game.
Okay… so…. yes his voice isn’t what it used to be but, as you say, he’s old. I’m sure he’s well aware of his vocal limitations. And he surprised everyone with his Glastonbury performance which was great! We’re extremely PRIVILEGED that he’s still doing it! I can’t go see him coz I can’t afford the f**king ticket and therein lies my problem with McCartney. Everything costs too much! Maybe I’m being a Scrooge but I just think a BILLIONAIRE could possibly lower his prices a bit.
@@dinnerwithgreedo Agreed. He doesn't need the money thats for sure. But then, its all the inbetween men that hike up the prices to line their own pockets.
If they want to win me back they'd have to meet several of my demands, go back to including Blu-Ray audio discs in their Beatles super deluxe sets, a Blu-Ray of the Let it Be film and release Carnival of Light in some form. I don't really see it happening.
Hi, The Lennon releases are just ridiculous. I wouldn't call it a cash grab because every person with a healthy mind won't buy this. But your remark about how the people who bought the Uber boxset must feel I can fully understand. The McCartney cd's.... what's there to say! I hope One Hand Clapping will be screened in a theatre nearby. Then I'll go and watch it. I have good hopes. They also screened the Ziggy Stardust motion picture last year. But the Lennon Estate .... go and be ashamed of trying to let people buy this fortcomig crap. Where is the honesty, mister Sean Lennon? Take care.
The new Mind Games remix was horrible, bloated low end as usual. Bought the 2002 Remix which is by far the best version. No interest in any of these gimmicks.
@@dinnerwithgreedo it was a remix. Flew under my radar. When they did the c2010 remaster they used the old pants undynamic mix! The 2002 is perfect, well balanced with dynamics but none of the low end bloat that comes with Sean overseeing
There is no such thing as a cash grab. The choice is yours. All of these remixes, demos, outtakes and stuff that was not put on the official releases are what we would have called, in the past- Bootlegs, and there always has been, and always will be, those who want to hear this stuff, and in most cases the sound quality is fantastic, better than any 10th generation cassette-copied bootleg- which I will remind you people also paid for, and in some cases a lot of money for lousy sounding bootlegs. Some of the official releases can benefit from remixing the sound to a more modern approach. It is offered to us to buy or not. So to the obvious-What are they supposed to do- offer it for free?? Like many other artists, John Lennon and George Harrison have passed- there will be no new material. All we have is what they left us while they were here. It's not a cash grab, it's an option for fans who want to hear this stuff.
It is a cash grab. Unfortunately, there are a huge number of Beatle fans that will buy anything and everything. The record companies know this. I know I don’t have to buy this, but it’s not aimed at me (or you). It’s aimed at them.

Good point!
That’s what I’ll be doing! I get the feeling I’ll only listen once though.
I agree with the Lennon release but i dont agree with Wings film until you can see it and then comment on the quality!
It may not be the final price for it… but it probably is right? I mean, they’re charging £1350 for a boxset!
This could go on forever,as soon as they release a new format, start again with please please me!
I don’t mind a new format… I just don’t want a new remix!
@@dinnerwithgreedo Then you will be collecting equipment.
It is a crime that the streaming, wich kills music is so cheap and that fysical product that supposes to emphasise the love for that music is becoming so expensive.
And its mindboggling that artists like Dylan/NeilYoung/Pinkfloyd/Beatles sold their rights to the corruptest industry ever....These cashgrabbing releases and the
socalled re-masters (in most cases just volume up! or Bass to the foreground (Grundman) enticing the public to reinvest in what they allready have at home.
It is legalised robbery. Look a record even 50 years ago should have been the best release ever of a sound in the studio. So if that was not good enough...we were robbed
from good sound first time arround. Not only that...on recordsleeves were our 'heroes' but who was really playing? Who got the royalties, how many young lives were
destroyed by inband rows (Fleetwood Mac the most famous one), Syd Barrett/Nick Drake/Skip Spence/Beefheart/Hendrixx all suffered from the pressures and dealings with
the recordindustry. Pete Thownsend who told that he could make money from live shows but hardly ever got paid from the record sales.
And now we have to accept this shit of € 1300,- boxsets etc.etc?
I mean… the simple answer is you don’t have to buy it.
I don’t mind them re-releasing stuff BUT I will call it out for what it is.
It’s odd that people refer to ‘solo Beatles’ The solo work was their deliberate attempt to stop being Beatles. It’s good marketing but it’s not really how it happened. Not one of the said, I’m a solo Beatle now.
I’ve got a vague recollection of (maybe) George saying he’ll always be ‘Beatle George’.
Thank you! I call it what it is!
Hope the tape is PAL and not NTSC.
Ha! Good point!
Really?
Yeah…. I think maybe they’ve made this release more special than the actual source material.
You intentionally said "SMH" instead of "SHM" just to see who was paying attention, right?
Absolutely…. that’s exactly what I was doing…. Promise. 😳
I love any beatle / solo release, but the new lennon tripple vinyl is pure greed.
Great fun, more insane every video 😂
Couldn't agree more!
ahh he's back Grumpy Greedo Love it , Love your dry Sarcastic Vids 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Lennon meditation set is $80 on Amazon US and this is definitely a cash grab
Does that include tax or is that added at the end?
@@dinnerwithgreedo Hello, that is before tax (if the state you live in charges a sales tax) and of course shipping also you don't have Amazon Prime.
Don't know about mind games more like mind blowing!!!! Screw the fans
Seems that way.
Surely Lennon (estate), McCartney, Harrison (estate) and Ringo are all shareholders in Apple!
You should check out that book though. It’s great.
@@dinnerwithgreedo I forgot. That second McCartney book is something I am interested in! ( I have the first one)
For those prices, Julia and Mary better come back to life and blow me.
JESUS!! So specific! 😂
@@dinnerwithgreedo I picked something unlikely to happen. Just sayin' those prices are insane.
Totally agree!
I'm guessing the answer for this week's meat quiz might be 'baloney'.
😂😂
You're the first person I've encountered that says those McCartney tapes were not lost! Do you have a video about it you could connect me to. I actually believe you. You don't have any reason to sugarcoat anything. You've been pretty honest about how much you like the music. How much you don't like the over commercialization and repackaging over and over again of similar and not very different stuff. So I take what you say to the bank. Time to make another deposit!
It’s in that McCartney Legacy book. He took copies to Lagos and it was these that were stolen. NOT ONLY THAT… that got mugged AFTER McCartney had finished recording the album!
I am going for 1 hand clapping. I loved my cassette boot I had Eons ago. Blackpool!
Sweet!
£68 is about $90 US. I guess them remixing the back catalog of the Beatles albums are on the back burner
I doubt that. I’m still hoping for a Beatles remix this year. Which one… f*ck knows!?
Good video, but I ain't buying none of the crap mindgames is the only song which is any good ,mccartney one hand clapping is shite I'm sick of it all I want is The Beatles Rubber soul box set next then the rest of The Beatles catalogue not the mccartney or Lennon 1970s stuff.
There’s still time for a Beatles announcement!
If it isn’t Archive Collection I’m super not interested. Seriously?! I dislike unfinished series’s. Paul forgot about it.
It seems that way. 😢
Thumbs up: McCartney Legacy vol 2, One Hand Clapping release on video (hope so); the rest: meh.
Agreed!!
fair criticisms, Apple Corp has no clothes
A Paul Corpse
If they want to win me back they'd have to meet several of my demands, go back to including Blu-Ray audio discs in their Beatles super deluxe sets, a Blu-Ray of the Let it Be film and release Carnival of Light in some form. I don't really see it happening.
Hi,
The Lennon releases are just ridiculous.
Take care.
The One Hand Clapping ‘film’ will be great, but judging by the trailer… I’m not sure it’ll look great.
Can't wait for that Mind Games release ... got nothing else to spend money on like food, and utility bills
😂
Meat for sure this time.
Maybe.
Mind Games was a mess when originally released the only way to make it better is to have somebody else record those songs.
They did an ‘okay’ job with the ultimate remixes. It definitely sounds better. It’s just that ½ the songs are a bit naff.
Looking forward to you saying something positive one of these days….
😂😂😂 I will! I promise!
The new Mind Games remix was horrible, bloated low end as usual. Bought the 2002 Remix which is by far the best version.
No interest in any of these gimmicks.
Was that a remix or a remaster?
@@dinnerwithgreedo it was a remix. Flew under my radar. When they did the c2010 remaster they used the old pants undynamic mix!
The 2002 is perfect, well balanced with dynamics but none of the low end bloat that comes with Sean overseeing
Oh nice. Thanks for the info.
@@dinnerwithgreedo welcome, think it’s out of print but got mine on Discogs for $25
Mind games…. A lot of offerings for a very average lp
