Actually most of the parts for the popular vintage hifi are mostly available, depending on the make & model. But most Marantz, Pioneer have no problem getting most of the parts. Those vintage components from the 70's are much better made than what is coming out now. But some things like Blue Tooth, HDMI, WiFi etc are not there but can be made available through attachments.

Exactly right. Systems are definitely upgradeable and you can add so much to it and still have that amazing sound.

Love your approach. It was my Dad that got me into Hi-Fi back in the day.

I wouldn't worry about parts and repair, I'm in the area as well and there's plenty of support with Gold Sound and Electric City for vintage gear. Besides, both my receivers are about 50yo and have only needed service once. I love the sound of vintage, and for the money, based on what I've listened to, there isn't much out there that sounds substantially better (At least not without significant investment). my main system includes a vintage receiver, with a Pro-Ject Turntable, DAC, CD transport, Apple Mac Mini, and B&W speakers. It's been said on other reviews, and I would agree, that the phono stages in a lot of vintage gear is of very high quality. This is in large part because during the 70s & 80s vinyl was the chosen medium for playback of recorded music. Aside from the nostalgia, which I also share, its everything you mentioned. Sound quality, build quality, value for money ......and repairability! I don't see myself changing from at minimum, a vintage amplifier, integrated amp, or receiver.

Thanks for sharing and for the support on the subject. When I was reading about my preamp it did mention in the reviews that it had an excellent phonostage so you're absolutely right about that!

I love vintage audio. I bought my first system in 1975 so I'm vintage too. LOL I use a Sabaj A10h headphone amp in one system as a remote volume control with a 1983 Harman Kardon amp. In another system I use a Fosi P1 tube buffer, so I like mixing vintage with modern. I'm an old audio guy watching a young audio guy right now.

👍🏻😎My appreciation of HiFi began in 1976 when I was 12 years old and my oldest brother got his Sansui 9090DB and a pair of Technics SB7000A's and I've been hooked ever since.

Heck yeah! In many ways, I was that same kid that you were - just a decade earlier. I made mix tapes from LPs!

@@audioarkitekts you know it! I made mix-tapes for girlfriends (and some best friends) and they made them for me... it was amazing.

i have done a similar thing...I went with Bryston for used amps and 10B crossover, as they support all of their vintage gear and Magnepan for speakers as they also support their past products. I used to have an Adcom 565 preamp, but replaced it with a Parasound Halo P5...and a modern streamer for Roon.

Very nice setup! The P5 is a great choice. I feel like Parasound is one of the few outfits out there thay is in that middle of the road price wise for preamps.

@@audioarkitekts I agree..and I bought mine a year or two old for $750 or thereabouts and it fits well with my vintage gear and modern streamer.

My system is hybrid since 2016. I did a digital connection of all my sources (CD, MD, DAT and Notebook) in my NAD D1020 DAC. The rest of equiments are mainly vintage. But my dream is to replace my ALTEC to a Tannoy DC8.

I love your channel...but Jeez you made me feel old when you started your vintage journey by mentioning CD's in the first minute ;-) CD's! I still think of them as new tech! ha ha ha

I missed the golden age of HiFi which I feel robbed because it would have been a really endearing time to have explored vinyl in its hay day!
