In this video, I experimented with Kodak Ptra 400 film stock using two different film emulation plugins. The color grading process was done in DaVinci Resolve Studio 18 using Dehancer and FilmConvert Nitrate plugins. I applied the Kodak Ptra 400 film stock to see how each plugin interpreted it, and I achieved the pastel tones I was expecting. I didn't intervene with brightness and saturation, letting the plugins do their magic.
I'm curious about how both plugins interpreted the Kodak Ptra 400 film stock, and while I have my personal preference, the perception of colors is subjective. What matters here is how you feel about it. The process I followed aims to bring a retro look to digital video by emulating film and getting closer to the nostalgic appearance of celluloid film. The camera used was the BMPCC Original, and I shot with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 Art lens.
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, as I value your input on the nostalgic aesthetic I tried to achieve with the film emulation process. If you enjoy content like this, don't forget to like and subscribe for more videos. Thanks for watching!

I’m a huge fan of your cinematography! It’s fun to look at different software and think it magically makes the images look great but it’s all about the person behind the camera. Fantastic imagery, thanks
Thank you very much. What you wrote gave me courage. I am so happy.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts.
Genial atmosphere and colors, with quality light in that room! 🤩 Let's not forget the artist behind the camera-great job as always! This time, for me, Nitrate wins one point more. 🙂
Thank you very much for watching. I care very much about your opinions. By the way, nitrate started to attract my attention too :)
Just in time for Christmas!!!! 😱 ❤️ I preferred nitrate. The second was a little too heavy-handed for me. Great work! Fantastic sequence and atmosphere, as always.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I'm still torn between the two :)
Dehancer version is my personal favorite.
Halation and bloom effect gives a vintage look. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your opinion.
@@Iso_800 I have both nitrate and Dehancer. I really like the 2383 film emulation in dehancer.
@@Henchproductions Yes, I love Kodak 2383 print too. Which camera and codecs do you use?
@@Iso_800 I shoot on the Panasonic S1H. Braw on a BM video assist.
@@Henchproductions Wow! Strong camera
more impressed by the sound design.
Thank you so much.
great comparison! both look good but I'm happy to stay on Dehancer =) what are your upscaling settings for 4K with the BMPCC OG footage?
I just select it as 4K in the render tab. I don't do Superscale. Thank you very much for watching.
@@Iso_800 ah cool, good to know thx!
did you use any halation for this? know film convert just released that package
I did not use it in Filmconvert. However, I used halation in dehancer. Yes, Filmconvert released it last month. It looks quite successful.
