    I miss plowing snow. I am 60 year of existence and in my late twenties, I was plowing for bucks. Customers grew steady and winter snow was so loved by me. It was like money falling out of the sky. Lol

    Just got done 3 hours ago... We have 8 commercial lots and 45 drive ways. 6 hours of sleep in 4 days i'm loving it! We have a GMC 2500 dumptruck with a sander and a 9 foot meyers straight plow. Then a 2500 Gmc crew cab pickup. The plow on that is a 9 foot fisher v plow. That also has a BOSS sander. Our last truck is a Gmc 2500, with an 8 foot straight plow. 1500 truck works fine! They are great for driveways and as long as you only have 3-4 commercial accounts that arent that big you are all set! Keep the vids coming bud!

    Just my 2¢, a set of wings would cut your time in half and greatly help with some of those tight spots. Your best plowing video by far, love it. I almost clicked off it a dozen times the with those "in video" ads that kept popping up. You can get rid of those in monetization settings.

      Oh yea, Merry Christmas buddy!!

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nobody runs wings in our area anymore because of the DOT officers constantly pulling over plow trucks and measuring them and giving out tickets because of the width.

    • @CountrysideStrong
      @CountrysideStrong 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Marksmisfitworld holy crap I didn't even think that was possible. If I were you I would look into that and make sure guys aren't giving you a line of shit. Manufactures would go bankrupt if they were limited to the size plows and accessories they could sell to certain regions. If you're over 8' here you have to drive with your plow angled by law and NY has some of the worst laws in the country

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is the width traveling if it is not angled enough. They will also sit and watch waiting four someone to make a mistake and give out tickets. They were giving out tickets 2 winters ago for trucks having trailers hitches in. People were paying the tickets before they found out it was not illegal.

    Ive ploughed driveways and smalle parking lots at even private roads with a halfton pickup for many years during the 1980s. In fact for doing driveways the smaller the truck the easier it is to manoeuvre in some of these tight driveways that are on hills or have turns or other angles to them that make manoeuvring a full size truck difficult to impossible.

    I have a '17 Sierra which is almost identical (same color too). Everyone I talked to said "No way!" on the plow with some plow shops refusing to sell me one. Anyway you can cover the pros vs cons of this current set up? You said you did a 2 inch level? Maybe you could go over what was cut out of the bumper, why you chose the level kit you did, what your plow dealer said to do, etc.?

    I know I’d be more expensive to get a 3/4 tone truck but if you think about it, you could get a bigger plow like maybe a V plow and it would take you less time, witch would mean the truck mite last you a bit longer but really whatever gets the job done right, and by the way nice vid, I enjoy watching snow plow videos

      Anthony Rafferty why not do first pass by garage?

    • @whskythrttl
      @whskythrttl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You make at least one relief pass first, so your snow has a place to go and doesn't blow against the door...same with plowing along sidewalks, if you plow along them tight first pass, you will be shoveling more

    Mark, what is the average rate for plowing? I’m thinking of getting a plow this year.

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  ปีที่แล้ว

      Plowing is expensive on your truck, you will want to make at least $100 per hour. Small driveway is $25, $35 if sidewalks or porches need to be cleaned if. Buy yourself a single stage Toro snow thrower for sidewalks and decks. They are always for sale on FB market place for cheap, lightweight and easy to use.

    Trucks these days are way beefed out. A "half-ton" like that has a payload capacity near 2000lbs (a full ton) and a tow rating near 10,000 lbs. If the front axle can handle the plow then play ball!

      Some of the plastic on the bottom of the bumper has to be cut. The lowest plastic air dam is basically cut into 3 pieces. I have a 2" leveling kit but should have gone with a 3". You have to have a leveling kit just to unhook from the plow because the truck sits so low. The plow frame drags on a couple of driveways that is why I say a 3" leveling kit. I am located in Alpena, MIchigan

      @Marksmisfitworld  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If less snow is taken so that there is no windrow the same amount of passes will be made. There will always be a windrow near the end of the pass with a straight blade.

      Angle the blade and overlap your passes. Not only will that save you time but money for wear and tear on your truck. All things that contribute to a well run business. But I guess if you don't care about buying a new rig each year. Then all means carry on sir.

    There nothing wrong with a 1500 series truck I used many of them over the years and I'm not sure why people have a problem with them it comes down to what works the best for you ....and if your not carrying a sander that's all you need . You can come plow for my Company any day you handle your truck very well and take care of your equipment .

  • @heathersanborn4914
    @heathersanborn4914 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it because a reg cab short bed 1/2 ton is the best plow truck unless you have a sander then a reg cab 3/4 or 1 ton is the best

    • @Marksmisfitworld
      @Marksmisfitworld  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything all depends on the weight a person will be carrying. If for instance you want a V Plow and a sander that will hold 1 ton of material it will take a 1 ton truck or so. I use a Western Midweight plow and a small SnowEx salt spreader for a 1/2 ton truck works just fine for me for now. I am looking at getting a Western Wideout plow with the next truck and that will require me to purchase a 3/4 ton truck.

    Idk y people think you can’t plow with a half ton. It’s a truck and they make light snow plows now. My dad had an 89 dodge 1500 and plowed with that truck for 11 years but you can plow so keep making videos dude 🤙

      pedro hebert agreed. A 1500 now compared to a 2500 10 years ago are the same if not built stronger. Payload is less obviously but frame, motor, trans, front end are stronger than they were 10 - 20 years ago.

    May not have to be perfect. But anything worth doing is worth doing right.

    I plow for a living, and around here (Canada) if you don't have a 3/4 ton the cops and the MTO (DOT) in the USA really frown on you. They have gotten to the point now where if you run anything but a tail gate salter you better believe you are going to get pulled over to be checked for over weight. Total BS but it is what it is.

    i own 2 half ton trucks a 05 ram 1500 and a 97 ram 1500 and let me say they've both been loaded with 1 ton in the bed and the 97 is getting a blade next year but everyone thinks biggers better that's not always true yes i am thinking of buying a 2500 with the cummins but thats only because ive found pretty cheap ones and i don't want to keep hauling 1 ton of wood in the 05 because she only has the 4.7 and has a down lifter needs a rear and needs shocks but once i get all the work done shes getting lifted and gonna be a real trail truck instead of being basically stock execpt for the cold air intake

    Nothing wrong with a 1/2ton. My 05 i beat the crap out of. I pull 5th wheels, goosnecks and just about everything my stepfster hauls with his 1ton. People underestimate the 1/2. Especially the owners of the older 5.3L 1/2 and 6.0L 3/4. Same exact truck with a hair difference of drivetrain and engine Liter but same parts, just mine is cheaper and pulls just as much. Course people laugh when they see a 40ft dovetail goosneck with a 50hp tractor loaded up, but it pulls just fine.

    haha no worries on which truck you use to plow with because your right on the price difference to buy and even if you did switch fron 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton there would be some idiot out here who would tell you that you should plow only with a one ton diesel and not a 3/4 ton truck you can never make them happy no matter what you do

    i dont get why there is such hate and trash talk when it comes to using a 1500 over a 2500 or 3500 for plowing. its all very circumstantial and in many cases the smaller the truck the better but generally speaking its better to use a 2500 because its a good medium and has heavier duty parts so it resists wear and tear from plowing much better. if you are not going in to tight places then yes a 2500 is better hands down. if you have a sander in the bed then a 3500 hands down. again, nothing wrong with using a light duty truck but rationally speaking here its all circumstantial.

      In our area the average snow fall per event is around 3” to 4” of fluffy snow. Average of 10 snow events with around 2 heavy storms per year of over a foot of snow. Another reason for the half ton trucks are they sit lower. With us getting in and out of them all day mowing 15 lawns per day it’s nice to slide in the truck without stepping up. Plus my plow trucks are leased and get a new one every 3 years. Like you said it’s all circumstantial. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    A DODGE RAM 1500 SHRTBOX 4X4 WITH A 5.9 LT 360 ENGINE AND A PLOW THATS NOT A FUKN BOHEMATH IN SIZE N WEIGHT. A MYERS 8FT ,
    AND A SET OF GOOD AGGRESSIVE TALL NARROW TIRES I TELL YA WHAT U BRING UR 3/4 SET UP TO ANY RESIDENTIAL DRIVE WAY OR EVEN A PARKING SUCH AS CHURCH OR COMMUNITY CENTER , I WILL PROVE THAT THE RAM 1500 WITH THE 360 ENGINE IS PLENTY ENOUGH ESPECIALLY WHEN EXPERIENCE IS BEHIND THE WHEEL AND PROPER EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE HAS TAKEN PLACE AND IM NOT TALKIN ABOUT BEEFING UP THE 1500 HUNDRED SUSPENSION OR DOING ANYTHING THAT WLD BE EQUIVALENT 2 THE 3/4 TON . U DO NOT NEEDA FUKN 3/4 TON TRUCK 2 PLOW SNOW COMMERCIALLY OR 4 UR OWN USE.
    I STACK SNOW 11 2 12 FEET UP WITH NP .
    LASTLY IM NOT SAYING THAT A 3/4 AINT A GREAT WAY 2 GO IM JUST COMMENTING AND STATING WITH 21 YRS EXPERIENCE THAT A 1/2 TON 4X4 TRUCK WITH THE NORMAL APPOINTMENTS SUCH AS TIRES AND A PLOW THAT FITS THE 1500 SERIES TYPE VEHICLES.
    FOR EXAMPLE !!!
    U DON'T RUN A WESTERN PRO PLUS SNOW PLOW ON 1/2 TON 4X4 .PEOPLE RUN OUT AND FIGURE THEY GOTTA BUY THE BIGGEST FUKN SNOW PLOW 4 THERE APPLICATION. .
    U WANNA BE SUCCESSFUL AND MAKE MONEY WITH A 1/2 TON 4X4 AND SNOWPLOW EACH SEASON ? U GO BUY A PLOW THAT THE TRUCK CAN HANDLE AND IF ANYBODY SAYS OHH U GOTTA BUY A WESTERN CONTRACTOR SIZE BLADE LIKE A PRO PLUS TO BE ABLE 2 CONTRACT AND DO IT WITH SUCCESS. !!! THERE FUKN CLUELESS AND THATS Y THE RUMORS START UP ABOUT A 1/2 TON NOT BEING ABLE 2 STAND UP 2 THE TEST OF SUCCESS .
    MAKE SURE THE TRUCK IS STILL THE POWER HOUSE AND PUT A BLADE SET UPON IT THATS NOT HEAVY AS FUCK . AND BY THE WAY U DNT NEED A V PLOW OR ALL THE EXTRA BULLSHIT WHEN IT COMES 2 MAKING MONEY .
    MY DODGE RAM SHRTBOX 1500 4X4 WITH THE 360 ENGINE HAS BEEN NOTHIN BUT A MONEY MAKER AND I RUN A STRAIGHT BLADE AND WHEN IT SNOWS I DO ALL MY STOPS MYSELF AND THAT FUKN DODGE RAM 360 PUSHES EQUIVALENT TO A CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD 4X4 6LITRE GASER.
    ALL DAY LONG WITHOUT BREAKING FRONT END OR NEEDING 2 STOP DO 2 HEAT UP ISSUES OR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.
    CAN U PLOW WITH A HALFTON 4X4 TRUCK!! I LIVE IN ONTARIO AND ILL PLOW AROUND ANYBODY THAT SAYS U CANT OR THATS ITS STUPID 2 USE THAT SIZE OF TRUCK
    . UR FUKN DENCE IF U SAY U CANT OR THAT ITS NOT WISE 2 USE A 1500 HUNDRED SERIES 4X4 2 PLOW WITH.
    AND DNT TURN THIS INTO A SHIT SHOW OR SAY THAT IM AGAINST A 3/4 TON SET UP . I NEVER SAID THAT AND I NVR WILL . OFCOURSE A 3/4 TON IS A GREAT PLOW TRUCK
    BUT SO IS A HALFTON WITH A FUKN BALLLZEE 360 ENGINE AND A 8FT STRAIGHT BLADE .
    IDIOTS YAP AND SAY SHIT .
    U GOTTA HAVE A DECENT SHAPE TRUCK NOT A 1500 OR 2500 THATS ON ITS LAST LEGS. ..
    GUYS USE GARAGE AND THEN BLAME THE VEHICLE . BUY A FUKN SNOWBLOWER AND LET US MAKE THE MONEY PROPERLY.

    Who gives a shit about whether you use a 1/2 ton 3/4 or 1 ton?? 1500 gets the job done VERY EASILY. I also tow my camper at over 10k pounds with my 2019 1500 Sierra SLT amd it has NO PROBLEM DOING IT..hardly know its behind me.
