GREAT DEAL! Wish I could watch this in high rez. Glad that Y'ALL have defeated the squirrels. The FLIPPER needs seed ports that won't fling seeds to the ground when the feeder spins!
Thanks for commenting. You're exactly right about the seed ports but the seed catcher I made has worked very well. I put a small amount of seeds in the seed catcher and none in the feeder itself. The squirrel only tests the feeder once in awhile so the battery lasts a long time. All the small birds dive down into the seed catcher to get the sunflower seeds. It's worked beautifully.
How u modified? add an extra piece of wire and some kind of netting? The birds drop a lot of seeds on the ground and all the rodents eat of the ground, then dig holes in my house, etc. Just birds I wold like - not all the freakin squirrels who jsut eat the lot in 5 mins :)
I made a seed catcher out of landscaping cloth that prevents weeds. I cut a circle then added a 2 inch piece around the edge to form an object that looks like a 9" cake pan. It had to be light enough that the weight doesn't trigger the spinner. It also allowed the rain to pass thru. Eventually the squirrel learned to grab on the bottom and ripped a hole in it. I made another one out of plastic mesh that racoons destroyed. It's a constant battle. I put the seed into the seed catcher and not the feeder. The small birds climb in and eat it. When there are too many birds, it starts to spin but stops as soon as it lightens up. This was a very disappointing "squirrel proof" bird feeder. The squirrels don't mind going for a spin if the seeds fall onto the ground. I've also started using sunflower kernels and there's no mess on the ground. They're expensive so I just put fewer out each day. I store them in empty 1 gallon milk jugs and just pour them in. I've also hung a platform feeder on a regular bird feeder pole with a baffle. The squirrels can't get the seeds and the seeds stay in the feeder. I saw this feeder on another video by "Lesleythe BirdNerd". It's "Nature's Way Bird Products CWF3 Cedar Platform Tray Bird Feeder ". I've been very satisfied with it. Thanks for watching my video.
@@patanewman clever. i bought the plate for a different one and attached it with ties. Chipmunks can get in but they get tired of being thrown. comical but it might injure them so not feeling too good about that :)
.He left the feeder alone but still tried it once in awhile. When the battery finally died, he had his way with it. We recharged the battery and thwarted him again. He still checks everyday.
@@patanewman One can just use a little Vaseline on the pole. A metal rod/pole with Vaseline, re-apply every few Mos. They hate getting that stuff on them.

@@patanewman Glad that Y'ALL have a BETTER IDEA! Funny to watch the squirrels "try & get nowhere". BE WELL
I HAVE FEW BROME PLUS feeders , the biggest size ,looks like that & have it many years hanging around my house
I was rooting for the little guy. He earned a little dinner.

The time to worry is when one of them figures out e=mc2.
i would have done the same thing. i don't understand how others can stand to look at the mess that accumulates under the birdfeeders.
So the squirrel didn't succeed even just for once this time?

@@patanewman You should put put out a multi-meter for him.
