  • In this video, the installation specialists at Rostra Precision Controls outline the steps taken to remove the dashboard trim pieces and factory 6.1" Toyota in-dash touch screen unit. By our third video, we will have installed our 250-8400 backup camera system which includes a CCD color camera, 30-foot wiring harness, and a touchscreen interface harness. These steps are very similar on the 2012-2013 Avalon, Corolla, Highlander, and Prius.

The BEST video on youtube on how to do it (and watch the other videos by this same poster related to it). A lot of videos on here show WAY TOO MANY THINGS to remove to get the head unit out. It should take 5 minutes to get it out and this video is 100% dead accurate on how to do it. You don't need to take all of those other items off to get it out.

One of the best videos on DIY stuff. This 4 years old video helped me to do the rear view camera installation myself. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. Thanks a lot for the demonstration videos.

I have watched several 2014 Camry trim/radio removal videos. Yours was the exact type! The video from behind walked me right through: I "broke" nothing! And boy howdy I sure can break it! Thanks very much...five stars!!!

In the first minute, you remove two light grey bazels. I need to remove the light grey plastic behind them too. I unscrewed 3 screws but still it is not free to remove it. Do you have any idea how to remove that light grey plastic piece behind those bazels?
    Thanks

Lazaro Mendoza This video JUST shows you how to remove the radio.
In order to install a backup camera, you probably have to connect the power and ground wire to the reverse lights in your trunk. There are videos that go into more detail

No idea, honestly. You might check the Camry forums to see if anyone there has an experience.

We used a 10mm socket with a 3/8" ratchet throughout this tutorial to remove and then reinstall the vehicle's radio.

RostraPC Hi, my girlfriends LCD has been unresponsive for a couple of weeks now. The display onscreen shows up and functions with the steering wheel buttons but the touchscreen is unresponsive, What would you recommend doing?
I figured to do as you did in the video and just unplug everything and check if one of the cables came loose.
      Any help is appreciated.

Umm, it pays to know the security code of your radio before disconnecting from the battery, doesn't it?

Is this needed? Also notice in the video the security light was still blinking even with the battery disconnected?

He made a mistake. Never take a battery off a auto made after 97 you might mess up the computer in your car. Always back up the computer with power before you disconnect the battery. Your computer might forget its programming. Mine did in my truck sometimes the radio won't work. Ask any one who does batteries for a living they will tell you
