      Overall aspect (including side and rear): 0.00016 m² (similar to a small insect). The new US true hypersonic missile which is 9 feet shorter than it's closest competitor will fit in the bay of the F-22 & F35.

He flew f-16 f-18, and was a top gun instructor on the f-18, He said he’s out maneuvered f-22s with ease in dogfights, has almost zero to do with the jet and almost ALL to do with the pilot. He said you’ve gotta be a dog or your FCKED😂 he did 8 combat tours as well

    The F-22 was designed solely to be an air superiority fighter. The F-35 was designed to be a multi-role fight, aka a jack of all trades. It is not a better than the F-22, it is different than the F-22.

    The F35 and F15 work great as a team. The F35 flies ahead into contested airspace and spots targets. It sends the data about the targets to the F15 which shoots it down. The F15 is essentially a missile truck that can also stand on its own. The F22 engages anything trying to obtain air supremacy. With the combination of these 3 planes you can get rid of surface to air missile system, airplanes, and enemy airfields. Once airspace is uncontested B52s can bomb enemy artillery and infantry positions so you don’t end up in a situation like the Russia/Ukraine war where artillery is being over utilized.

    • @mndlessdrwer
      @mndlessdrwer หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The F-18 and F-16 are also suitable for being payload delivery devices flying with the F-35 or F-22 in order to eliminate ground-to-air defensive measures before flying in the bombers. The B-2 isn't a terrible option if you really need to demolish a bunker in a hurry and can't wait to obtain air dominance before you do so. The B-1 is great for when you can only ensure a certain window of air dominance before other reinforcements arrive. Otherwise, the B-52 is the trusty old workhorse for changing terrain and putting warheads on foreheads.

    • @jsanc623_
      @jsanc623_ หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct. F35 Lightning-II for long range targeting and electronic warfare, F22 for air supremacy and interceptor denial, and F15/F18 as missile trucks (carrying missiles in the 300mi to 900mi range) at standoff range. Then couple that with the Rapid Dragon system deploying up to 45 cruise missiles per cargo plane (currently loaded with JASSM-ER with a range of 1,200 miles) from the air and you have an incredibly deadly combination of platforms.

      @@Donald_Turnip Might be true for the early variants of the F-15, but the F-15 EX has a 5,350kg heavier payload capacity than the F-18 Super Hornet and it also has more hard points to mount ordinance to. The difference is in compatibility. The F/A-18E and F variants are compatible with just SO MUCH ordinance that you're really spoiled for choice in how you configure your loadout for a sortie.

    • @TheKickKat
      @TheKickKat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      "Never saw the f22" ...
      Was that visually, or on RADAR? The F-15 has a very powerful RADAR that can detect and even lock targets well beyond the operational range of the AIM-120s it would normally carry, (2x as far or more, according to best guesses based on publicly available info). I think the F-15 would at least detect the F-22 by the time they closed to, say, 40 miles from one another ... especially under optimal conditions. If the F-15s were also being fed target data through Data Link with AWACS, it could be farther. Lastly, as soon as the F-22 scanned the F-15 with its RADAR, the F-15 would get some kind of notification on its RADAR Warning Receiver, especially if it is spiked (F-22 tries to aquire a weapons lock).
      The scenario might have been different than what I have in mind, but if it was a Beyond Visual Range engagement, all of those things are applicable. I am going to see if I can find detailed info.

      Yeah the F-15 is a scary beast of a plane.
      If the F-15 is out classed by something else you know it's a terrifying thing. The 22 just plays on a whole other level. Nothing moves like it (though the 15 EX comes close). Nothing can see the 22. It kills you before you or your radar ever register it. And then it vanishes. It's a damned ghost even to our own top planes.

      F22 = 5th Gen Air Dominance/Superiority twin engine fighter.
      F35 = 5th Gen Multirole single engine Fighter with VTOL & aircraft carrier capable. Think Harrier, but 3 generations more advanced.
      The higher number (35 vs 22) does NOT signify better or more advanced ... its a different hull configuration number. Completely different plane. The F22 would beat the F35 in a straight up dogfight 7 times in 10, and is stealthier, but the F35 has more diverse abilities in terms of VTOL & ordnance

Basically, General Electric (the appliance company) made a big fuck-off gun, then they made some really nice jet engines, then they handed both of those over to Fairchild for them to duct-tape wings onto and make it fly. Then Fairchild put the pilot inside a titanium bathtub to protect the pilot FROM THE GUN. Like, sure, it also protects them against stray fire from enemy aircraft and air defense, but it's mostly there to prevent the pilot from dying if the gun gets jammed and rips itself apart due to inertia. They then went a step further and made the aircraft the flying equivalent of a rabid honeybadger by making it capable of flying with a wing, an engine, and half the tail missing. That thing is an absolute menace.

    Remember the F-22 might be 20 years old, but the prototype its based on is first flew almost 34 years ago now, and started being designed over 40 years ago.
    The F-35 definitely has some far more advanced abilities, being a far newer aircraft. That said, its not designed as the cutting edge dogfighter, but to be the jack-of-all-trades warehouse plane that can dogfight too.
    Essentially the F-22 replaced the few and expensive F-15C's, the F-35 replaced the numerous and cheaper F-16s. Thats why the US is letting everyone donate F-16s to Ukraine, its slowly being phased out anyways and every ally that gives their F-16s to Ukrainian will potentially buy new F-35s.
    The interesting bit is the F-15 got a new model the F-15EX. Because its non-Stealth (infact one of the least stealthy planes ever) it is designed to carry a ton of weapons. So the Airforce realized they can fit giant missiles on it that cant fit in the F-22 and F-35 weapon bays (which hide non Stealthy missiles). Bigger missiles can either shot down satellites or fire hundreds of miles and just outrange the enemy. Which allows the stealth F-35 (not F-22) to fly closer to the enemy but use the F-15s further backs missiles, so the F-35s stay hidden and the F-15s safe fron return fire. The F-22 is too old to datalink with any other military systems, as its processor is just too old and doesn’t have any systems to do so.
    Also the F-15EX being non-stealth has advantages with repairs and longevity of the aircraft. Planes require repairs after every flight and that Stealth skin peals off. Its not as bad as it once was but it takes a long time to make it stealthy again. The military has a ratio of what percentage of the aircrafts time is spent getting repaired, Stealth planes can be out of action over 40% of the time. When the F-15EX can potentially be ready to fly 90% of the time. Also aircraft have lifespans, most Stealth planes last about 6,000 to 8,000 flight hours before needing a life extension or being replaced with a new. The F-15EX is expected to last 20,000 flight hours as its a proven system designed to last. The military basically realized it was still very useful to them. It juat shifted from the aur dominance fighter to a missile truck.

      Our doctrine is to design our aircraft for 50 years of air dominance. Part of that has to do with the time it takes to design, flight test, and deploy and part of it is for the manufacturer to recoup the cost of the contract through maintenance. Our combined arms warefare doctrine and land based platforms are predicated on air dominance. Our procurement strategy has changed to more frequent air frames and modular iterative hardware/software and multiple manufacturers focusing on their strengths. Along with advancements in manufacturing, modeling, and project management we are accelerating advancement and not having to live with compromises. Think back to the yf22 and yf23.

      @@DjangoStock the f117 was being designed in the 70s and wasn’t unveiled officially until the late 80s after it had been operation for almost a decade. Fun fact is that some of them are being reactivated.
      The b2 was being built in the 80s and is already being replaced by the b21. It will fly for a while longer but that should give you an idea of how far back these systems reach. However we are now not marrying systems with airframes so you will see more airframes in fewer numbers. The f22 is currently testing hardware for the ngad. Software can advance far more rapidly than airframes so there will be many more block upgrades. The software itself can be upgraded continually due to the open architecture we use accross platforms. It started with the f22 and continues with the f35 so weapons systems and capabilities can be upgraded across platforms

    The F-22 is not a "bad" aircraft. It was so good, it was decided to make it illegal to export to allied countries. The F-35 is a great aircraft, but not good enough to outright retire the Raptors, too. Russia's SU-57 Felon is not a "true" competitor to the F-22 because there are so few of them made and rarely seen. The Chinese J-20 may be capable, but sources in the U.S. military don't see them as anything to be concerned about. The main reason the NGAD is desired so much is to maintain a significant advantage against Russia and China, even though the F-22 and F35 are still better. Don't be surprised if Russia and China are wanting America to develop the NGAD just for their hackers to get info for them to attempt to reverse engineer stuff for themselves (and still be at a disadvantage).

    If and airframe is a good airframe it can stay in service for a long, long time. The World's premier fighter jet, at least until the F-22 came along, has been the F-15. The F-15 came into service in the early 1970's, and with various software and armament upgrades has remained dominant for 50 years. The F-22 is a long way from being ready for the scrap heap. The B-52 bomber has been in service for 60+ years and is still one of the World's best bombers.

      F-35 isn’t a match for the F-22 at all. F-35 is honestly a shit box compared to the F-22. The F-35 design is compromised because of the vtol variant. It was designed to be a cheaper project that we would sell to nato allies. If we are designing it to sell it’s no where near as good as something we would never sell. The F-35 ended up being so damn expensive that if we would have kept making the F-22 it would have been significantly cheaper than the bloated subpar f-35. Literally thanks Obama for closing the F-22 project. Dumbest thing we ever did.

    NGAD stands for Next Generation Air Dominance. Back in the 1980's, the F22 was considered the NGAD. NGAD is simply referring to the next fighter to be put into production.
    Also, the reason that the F-35 took over production is because 1: it's a lot cheaper to build and maintain than the F-22. 2: The F-22 has technology even the F-35 doesn't get, so it's not allowed to be exported, while the F-35 is currently America's largest fighter export. 3: The F-22 is strictly an Air Dominance aircraft, meaning it's a jet that takes on other jets. The F-35 is a multi-role fighter, meaning it can take on other jets, though not as well as the F-22, but it can also do roles such as bombing, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare such as Jamming enemy aircraft or ground radar.
    While I was in the Air Force, I heard a Captain talk about the comparison of the F-22 and F-35. He said "If you put 10 F-16's against 1 F-35, all 10 F-16's would be shot down before they spotted the F-35. If you put 10 F-35's against 1 F-22, all F-35's would be shot down before they even knew they were in trouble."
