Nice video! I'd recommend always making sure you do the other side as well to keep your muscles balanced...and keep you ready for those times you play a non-dominate hand hole with your buddies!

Seth, quick question: what effect would a larger or smaller diameter handle have on this exercise if any at all? Thanks for all you do!

Hey! I really like your channel and I am sure it will grow! I think you help a lot of Disc Golf Player with your knowledge out!
But I have a problem and maybe you have a good advice: After playing (RHBH) the left side/upper side of my left gluteus maximus hurts a little bit, I lose mobility and when I bring it in different positions in hurts a little bit. I know its hard to give tips when you arent there, but maybe you know this problem or you have some good methods to strechts those parts?
    Thanks and keep it up!
Sry for my englisch, I am from Germany and never learned it.

Hey Carsten! Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. Like you mentioned, it's tough to tell without seeing you, but I would suspect some decreased hip mobility that is causing you to rotate more through your lower back than your hips. If the hips and upper back can't rotate very well, than the lower back must do so. If that's the case, it could be pinching a nerve from your lower back that runs down into your glute. Can't say for certain, but try the hip and upper back mobility exercises and see if it helps. Thanks again!

You forgot the name. It's 'The Suitcase Hold' so if you don't have a weight set, use a suitcase!

I tried this exercise thsi morning. Do you keep your shoulders relaxed? By relaxed I mean that you don't try to lift them up, and instead just letting the weight pull down your shoulders.
Also I felt, perhaps not pain, but some strain on my neck and upper back, which made me to try to stand in a more upright position. Is this normal or should I be cautious?
As I recall it now, I kept weigths in both hands actually. Is it better to concentrate on one side at a time?
I don't remember the exact weight but I recall being able to hold them for about 2mins before I actually started to feel that my hands were tired. I guess I just need to use some more weight?

Hey Janimatti! Keep those shoulders relaxed and arms at your sides. You want to try and use as little of your trapezius muscles as possible. This type of exercise is what we call "self-limiting." It forces you to stand upright and with good posture or you won't be able to do it for very long. You will most likely feel some tension in your neck and upper back. If it is painful, then stop. If it just feels like tension because you are holding weights, then that is pretty normal.
I vary the holds. Sometimes I hold weights in both hands, and sometimes in just a single hand. It sounds like you could use more weight. If possible, try holding both weights in one hand. Much more of a grip challenge that way as well.

An instruction that is posted under the category "Comedy" and that supposedly shows how to strengthen your muscles, does not provide a trusthworthy feeling.

Janimatti Ellonen good catch! I guess that's why my area of expertise is in human performance and not TH-cam. :)
