Hi! So if you pursue an academic psychiatry job you apply at the same stage as applying for core psychiatry training. Academic posts are usually run through, meaning you would only apply once and not again for specialist registrar (ST4) level. This does mean picking a specialist area earlier on. Paper A can be completed at any stage. However, for paper B it is usually advised to work in psychiatry for 1 year first and 2 years before you can sit the CASC (ordinarily, there have been some changes to this with the current pandemic to make this more flexible). There is a limit on how long each exam would be valid for once passed, so make sure you can fit them all in within that timescale. The royal college website has lots of up to date info on this.
Hi, so all areas will see some emergency presentations of psychiatry. If you mean within an A&E department for example most would be seen by the psychiatry liaison service within a general hospital and this team usually contains general adult psychiatrists. Unless there is a different specialist needed for example they might need to call in a children's psychiatrist if the patient was younger. Services vary a bit by location.
Wtf? I've had to correct my "psychiatrists" almost everytime i visited one😂😂😂. There must be a faster way? The final exam must be easier than an IQ test. (Bad comparison considering its fairly unlikely any psychiatrist i met would score high enough to be counted on an IQ test 🤦
Here i am didn't even take an MCAT yet. it will help me within 5,6 years

Is emergency psychiatry an area of psychiatry too?
