    Zverev's serve was absolutely insane here. 85% 1st serves with 94/111 made. Even if Carlos was playing at his 3rd set level the whole match, he would've struggled to win.

      I saw many more unforced errors by Carlos during the first two sets than usual. Zverev had an awesome first serve, but despite that, most of his “winners” were actually when Carlos made errors.

    Even though I was going for Carlos, I’m probably even more happy for Zverev. Maybe this is his year. He was clinical in the early sets. Said it elsewhere, but 89% 1st serve for first set, and 90% for set 2 is insane. 85% for the entire match. The amount of tennis he’s played this month (and even this AO) is also insane. He is dominating. Hope he gets good rest, and has a great semi. It would be extraordinary if he went all the way. Congratulations Sascha 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It wasn't just Zverev 's serve but his shot selection, The way he manoeuvred his groundstrokes with precision, constantly unsettling Alcaraz and never letting him have a real crack at it.. Alcaraz certainly needs to up his ante to beat Sasha or Sinner. They play more compact game than him.

    I think this match is a crucial wake-up call for Alcaraz. The showmanship and shotmaking skills are certainly fun, but unless they're paired with extensive discipline, they're not a recipe for successful Slam runs again and again. Not an exact comparison, certainly, but look at Kyrgios' career. You need massive amounts of focus and repetition to win lots of these tours. Even Roger with all of his magical skills was the epitome of consistency. Carlos is young and has much time ahead of him to grow, but maturation is needed if he wants to become a great of the game.

      well said. Alcaraz has lost to many players other than Djokovic since Wimbledon 2023. Alcaraz's weakness is that he often gives up his court positions carelessly....

    • @bastianvalero4612
      @bastianvalero4612 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I agree, these skills need to be developed 98/100 on precision to make them reliable, he could've gone for safer shots for example in 4th set when he was about to break Sacha's serve, but still goes for slices even tho it landed, it wasn't the best option. I really like his playstyle cuz it's really fun to watch, but it needs polishing or not to rely on them sometimes when it matters that much cuz then he ends up short and hitting the net or something.

      shot selection is a problem too, might be a part of maturity. either way, i don’t think this match was a huge wake-up call or anything. carlos has never done well historically here and usually peaks from clay to uso. he doesn’t have to be big 3 level to still end up as one of the greatest ever. his trajectory is fine and it seems like this is what he enjoys

      There's no denying that Nole is a legend. I have absolute respect for him as a tennis player. But it's time for a fresh face to win AO this time. It wasn't like that till the end of last year, but now, and this is just my personal opinion - watching Novak is getting a little bit stale. I feel like he's won everything and proved himself as the GOAT beyond any doubts. May be now's the time for a change of guard? If Sascha or Sinner win, that would be great for them and tennis. But first, Z needs to surmount the wall named Meddy.

    One thing that Carlos needs to learn is to pace his game and go for the winning strokes when it matters most. It is a sign that he needs to mature on his mindset in the entirety of the game. When you're young and have all the energy, you have the tendency to give all your might- it's not about that. He is a great champion already- he just needs to slow down.
