I searched for a guide of how to make pickled onions today, i've seen a dozen of videos. I have to tell you that you are the best explainer and you have the most exact recipe. It might sound silly for such a simple recipe but believe me, for a guy without previous knowledge like me, you made it simple and on point. Thank you from Greece.

I bring my brine to a simmer, then add to the jars. I prefer the "extra" flavour you get. You might try using cider vinegar instead of distilled white, I think the flavour's better, but that's what I grew up with. Cheers from Virginia.

My family and I absolutely love these. I make them in various "flavors" like you do, and I've always got some in the fridge. They're a fantastic addition to burgers, dogs, tacos, salads. Sometimes I just eat them straight out of the jar. 🤣

Same. If I'm going into the fridge for something, my fingers tend to find their way into the pickled onion jar to snag a couple.

I made all three. By far, the onions with jalapeño is the BEST!! We are all jalapeño lovers so I sometimes do a 50/50 jar. My 93 year old mother ate half a jar yesterday. Thanks for the great recipe!!

@@tenazrael the spice comes from the seeds and membranes. So if you like heat leave that stuff in tact and if not get rid of all that and then the pepper itself is not exactly hot but very flavorful😍

I’ve just watched your video and should be in bed now…… but no! I went into the kitchen and made a small jar of your pickled onions. They are now in fridge overnight and I’ll be taking some to work to have at lunch tomorrow with my sandwich. Next jar will be bigger and I’m going to experiment, garlic and Aleppo chilli in one; garlic and spices in another.😀

Loved the variations Joe! I've always had a jar in my fridge. Give ya another variation which is the one I keep. Onion, thinly sliced habanero, salt, sugar and lime juice. Never measured, just filled the jar with onions/peppers (I like it hot so it's at least70/30 for me, sometimes hotter), a little salt, little sugar and fresh juice to cover. Killer on hot dogs, sausages, burgers, subs, breakfast, lunch, dinner... Well, you said it, pretty much anything.

Joe, I watched this video about 3 or 4 months ago, and made up a quart to try. Since then, I have had to make up at least 6 more quarts. Everyone loves the Onions and Jalapeño mix. When the last jar was about half empty I chucked in a bunch of thicker sliced cucumbers and let them soak in the brine for a few days in the fridge....also excellent. Thanks!!

Texas Parks and Wildlife had a recipe for pickled boiled shrimp made the same way with sweet red onions. The boiled shrimp were layered between the onions and were topped with capers and some of the liquid the capers are in was added to each jar along with a brine similar to the one in your recipe. They were also refrigerated after you made them.
