This was an early flight. Wingbands only at centre. Later moved them to dowels through fuselage. It's a great flier and has survived a few hard landings. Thanks for watching.
Justin Fielding The motor is a 3548 turnigy. I now try and zig zag it up to keep an eye on its angle of climb better. My bird of time now has another set of wings with ailerons but the original are still ok. Thanks for watching.
No.Not trying to loop. The wings were mounted with 2 central bands which meant that the fuselage could roll under the wing! The original designer changed this. I now use conventional dowels. The crash i think was due to the pivot for the tailplane jamming. This has been fixed and the plane flies a lot better. Also corrected the slop to one side of the tailplane. Thanks for watching. Oh the motor is a 3548 xyh 750 kv from Giant Shark. Use this motor in a few planes. Thanks for watching.
I crashed mine the other day and am sick over it. It was the arf model and cracked the fuse. I didn't have the battery forward enough and it went up tail heavy. Not good on a heavy glider. Couldn't get it down easy, hit very hard. Cracked the center wing panel also. I had a half dozen excellent flights on it last year and this was my first this year. I should have done a hand toss first. I thought I had the battery where it was last year. Was my favorite plane, will rebuild or get another.
The entire fuselage and tail section were twisting. Where you intentionally trying to loop? If non what caused that? Also what size motor do you have on it? I'm getting one!
I had a similar problem with the BOT (last Saturday), I usually tend to paste an adhesive tape to join the panels, but during the flight one of the tapes loosened a bit causing a vibration in the wing and loss of lift going into tailspin ... crash and total loss. Only the RX and servos survived!
Got the wing joiner boxes repaired and some cracks in the top wing sheeting. Discovered that the elevator jamming at the bell crank. Not a lot of space there but i hope i have it sorted. Thanks for watching .
Joseph Rueck As long as you follow instructions on built in down & side thrust. Too much power at height you can get away with but at the bottom of a climb out a stall or loop will end up in tears.
Had nothing to do with inverted flight and everything to do with the wing mounted camera and the high speed dive ! Scary horizontal stabilizer flutter. As you said, you had a lot of fixing to do.
Thanks for watching. The bird is fixed and flown again.Wing joiner box needed strengthening. Real problem was a bend in the push rod to the elevator which restricted movement.
Mine is a scratch built 3 part wing so i only lost one 3ft tip. was able to land without too much damage. Now have some of the problems sorted out and the plane is flying much better. Dowels right through fuselage and wobbly wings sorted. Tailplane also sorted. Thanks for watching.
Did you lose orientation of the plane? I had the same thing happen to my favorite glider. It got so high that I thought it was in level flight, when it was actually diving to the ground. When I realized this and pulled out of the dive, the outer wing snapped. Beautiful video footage otherwise 👍!!
Yes it was one of my earliest flights with the BOT. Too much throttle instead of pushing in down elevator. Really only needs half throttle to get airborne. Its a real floater so the simple barn door spoilers are well worth it. Withe lockdown I'm thinking of another scratch build of perhaps the Leprechaun. What glider do you fly? Hope you are staying safe wherever you are. God Bless. Bob
It’s a bird of time not an aerobatic prop plane, anything will dive if given the input, but wing loading well well exceeded, pilot error there my friend..
@@jimelliott33 It was quite a while back and i think it was the socket that gave. The joining spar is made of ply and aluminium with some cf stiffening. It was easily fixed and has had many flights since.
Amazing to see the fuselage twisting.

I'm amazed the fuse didn't snap.

The airframe couldn't handle those speeds when you did that nose dive. It's a gentle flyer, not a hot liner.
The dive wasnt intentional. Thanks for watching. Here's my hotliner. Vee tail scratch built electric glider
Oh that's heartbreaking - hopefully you'll have her repaired and flying again soon!

sorry to see that. I am surprised it did not fail earlier when she tucked under into inverted, lots of negative Gs then. Hope she repairs easily.

i have to remember when i fly my scratch built bot that its not my over powered re enforced radian

Some glue joints couldnt take the strain! May need to open up the d box to clamp the epoxy join.

wow its amazing to see the flex in the airframe before it broke! no doubt it will be back in the air soon!

We all have those days, did it break on the wing joining spar or socket?

I have a wot 4 but it is not as spectacular as unintended flip.
Wow, never seen such a huge RC plane!! Awesome =D Was it very exspensive? So sad it crashed :/
that happened to my bot too lol
If you want to do aerobatics buy a wot 4 I'm test flying my b o t today and it will never be flying upside down!! You deserved it!!!
