For my tastes, this is the finest rendition of 'Lily's Eyes' recorded to date. What superlative musicians and what incomparable voices! I keep coming back - just can't get enough. Thank you Messrs. Quast & Warlow!
I hear you! I'm an avid metal fan and I'm so surprised at myself for listening to stuff like this. Philip Quast's voice is so amazing, whatever he sings I'll listen to him!!!!!
Album: The Secret Garden [NEVILLE] Strangely quiet, but now the storm Simply rests to strike again Standing, waiting, I think of her I think of her [ARCHIBALD] Strange, this Mary, she leaves the room Yet remains, she lingers on Something stirs me to think of her I think of her [NEVILLE] From death she casts her spell All night we hear her sighs And now a girl has come Who has her eyes She has her eyes The girl has Lily's hazel eyes Those eyes that saw him happy long ago Those eyes that gave him life And hope he'd never known How can he see the girl And miss those hazel eyes [ARCHIBALD] She has her eyes The girl has Lily's hazel eyes Those eyes that closed and left me all alone Those eyes I feel will never ever let me go How can I see this girl who has her hazel eyes In Lily's eyes a castle This house seemed to be And I, her bravest knight became My lady fair was she [NEVILLE] She has her eyes She has my Lily's hazel eyes Those eyes that loved my brother- never me Those eyes that never saw me Never knew I longed To hold her close To live at last in Lily's Eyes [ARCHIBALD] Imagine me, a lover [NEVILLE] I longed for the day She'd turn and see me standing there [ARCHIBALD AND NEVILLE] Would God had let her stay [NEVILLE] She has her eyes She has Lily's hazel eyes Those eyes that first I loved so How can I now forget That I dared To be in love alive and whole In Lily's eyes In Lily's eyes
It's not just because of a woman named Lily. Lily was loved by two different men. One she never noticed loved her. And Harry, Lily's son, has her eyes. And one of the first things that anyone says when they meet Harry is, "You have your mother's eyes". (People who knew Lily, that is.) This happens many many times in the books. So that's why a lot the Harry Potter fans point that out.
WOW!!! I've never seen this musical...but I had to hear this song when I learned that the wonderful Philip Quast sang in it!!! Brava, brava! It was a little weird to think of Javert singing this, though. Now we learn that he actually had a heart! :)
This is the best version. There voices are so compatible with each other. they are very different, but work exellently together. By the way.\, how much did J.K Rowling take Snape's love for Lily Potter in the 7th book. i read it and i was like, "omg, shes basically taking words out of the song".
Seems like a lot of people are confused by the title saying Anthony Warlow and Philip Quast as if that's the order they sing in. Warlow is Archibald. Quast sings first as Neville
I know that they're two separate works, but I can't help but draw the parallel and hear James and Snape in this. I actually doubt this is where Jo got it from, but it's a beautiful song and I can see the two of them singing this.
I cannot count the number of times each time I listen to this song that I contemplate this very parallel. No possible way that JK got it from this, but it's still an awesomely cosmic coincidence.
If James had survived and only Lily died. And then this is a duet between Snape and James during Harry's first year. Snape: "He has her eyes. He has my Lily's hazel eyes. Those eyes that loved James Potter, never me!" I think of these two singing every time I hear it now.
i heard that opening night of the first production of this show there was such a huge response they had to stop the show for a little bit to allow the people to sit back down and stop cheering idk if that is true...but i think if it is true it's apropos...cuz this song is amazing
As a die-hard Potter fan: Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! It was a genius work of literature that does not apply to everything. Now stop it and just enjoy the Warlow and the Quast!
My friend said this could easily be Snape and James singing over Lilly in the Harry Potter books. Seems to work, except that Lilly's eyes are green. Love this song.
Depends on the style of song...Philip has one of the great musical-theatre voices and this song is perfect this way. Operatic voices are not necessarily better they are different in emphasis and style. Suit different songs Bryn Terfel says this himself...and he has sung on stage with Quast.
For my tastes, this is the finest rendition of 'Lily's Eyes' recorded to date. What superlative musicians and what incomparable voices! I keep coming back - just can't get enough. Thank you Messrs. Quast & Warlow!
Philip has the most beuatiful baritone voice EVER.
These two are absolutely divine together. I've not heard a better version than Warlow and Quast. Magic.
Ah, Philip Quast and Anthony Warlow, two of Australia's most talented singers! How I adore this song!
my heart always breaks for philip when he says "those eyes that loved my brother, never me"....love him :)
God has a voice and he gave it to Philip Quast this is just to amazing for words
Philip you need to sing more. Please sing everything. Your voice is musical perfection!
I cried. So damn beautiful. I love them both.
This song is so beautiful. It sounds so amazing.
They're both so good at emoting with their voices, especially Warlow.
I love the raw emotion in this song. It gets me every time!
WOW, best rendition of ‘ Lilly’s eyes’ ♥️
Although I do love the OBC version, Anthony and Philip's rendition is still my favorite. They sound so passionate and harmonious together.
I hear you! I'm an avid metal fan and I'm so surprised at myself for listening to stuff like this. Philip Quast's voice is so amazing, whatever he sings I'll listen to him!!!!!
Quast and Warlow on the same stage. . . .. *fangirl squeal*
Album: The Secret Garden
[NEVILLE]
Strangely quiet, but now the storm
Simply rests to strike again
Standing, waiting, I think of her
I think of her
[ARCHIBALD]
Strange, this Mary, she leaves the room
Yet remains, she lingers on
Something stirs me to think of her
I think of her
[NEVILLE]
From death she casts her spell
All night we hear her sighs
And now a girl has come
Who has her eyes
She has her eyes
The girl has Lily's hazel eyes
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago
Those eyes that gave him life
And hope he'd never known
How can he see the girl
And miss those hazel eyes
[ARCHIBALD]
She has her eyes
The girl has Lily's hazel eyes
Those eyes that closed and left me all alone
Those eyes I feel will never ever let me go
How can I see this girl who has her hazel eyes
In Lily's eyes a castle
This house seemed to be
And I, her bravest knight became
My lady fair was she
[NEVILLE]
She has her eyes
She has my Lily's hazel eyes
Those eyes that loved my brother- never me
Those eyes that never saw me
Never knew I longed
To hold her close
To live at last in Lily's Eyes
[ARCHIBALD]
Imagine me, a lover
[NEVILLE]
I longed for the day
She'd turn and see me standing there
[ARCHIBALD AND NEVILLE]
Would God had let her stay
[NEVILLE]
She has her eyes
She has Lily's hazel eyes
Those eyes that first I loved so
How can
I now forget
That I dared
To be in love alive and whole
In Lily's eyes
In Lily's eyes
What a way to deliver a performance!!!
my fav line is "thouse eyes that loved my brother never me" my theatre teacher played him once.
2 of the best voices in the whole wide world!
OMFG! This is the most fudging epic thing ever! Now if they could sing "agony" from into the woods, my life would be complete.
I wish people would stop trying to relate this song to Harry Potter, just because they both have characters called Lily who have eyes.
U mean green/ hazel eyes
It's not just because of a woman named Lily. Lily was loved by two different men. One she never noticed loved her. And Harry, Lily's son, has her eyes. And one of the first things that anyone says when they meet Harry is, "You have your mother's eyes". (People who knew Lily, that is.) This happens many many times in the books.
So that's why a lot the Harry Potter fans point that out.
There are more things in common with this song and Lily Potter, but it's a coincidence nonetheless.
I agree!Especially when that relation is contradicted by the line "Those eyes that loved my brother never me"
WOW!!! I've never seen this musical...but I had to hear this song when I learned that the wonderful Philip Quast sang in it!!! Brava, brava!
It was a little weird to think of Javert singing this, though. Now we learn that he actually had a heart! :)
I thought of this song while reading book 7 too. Good to know I wasn't the only one who saw it :)
tears and shivers. tears and goosebumps.
My boyfriend sang this as Archibald in a production of this when I hear it I literally shiver and want to cry! A beautiful song
Just saw this at Pittsburgh's CCAC's South Theatre....it was absolutely brilliant!!! :D
This song is so wonderful!!
It makes me cry... :)
I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks to my love of this musical and this song, I called it on Snape's love for Lily five minutes after I finished Book One!
Lots of emotion in this song.
This is just beautiful! :')
very beautiful song (even though i never seen this musical but i can tell it's good)! their voices go so great together!
This sounds awesome, always love Anthony warlow!
AW is amazing
And Philip Quast is AAAAMMMMAAAAZZZZIIINNGGG!!!! lol
Thanks for putting this up :D
This is the best version. There voices are so compatible with each other. they are very different, but work exellently together. By the way.\, how much did J.K Rowling take Snape's love for Lily Potter in the 7th book. i read it and i was like, "omg, shes basically taking words out of the song".
Ladies and gentlemen. Broadway's finest.
I really love this song~
Last Thursday I saw the german debut performance. Was very nice ^,^
this song is so beautiful! I love it! Especially since my name is Lilly and I have hazel eyes!!!! :)
its aamzingggggggggggggggggggg
ABSOLUTELY!!!
gives me shivers !!! sooooooo good!!!!!!
I love how Anthony Warlow is just completely overshadowed by Philip. Both are excellent for their parts in my opinion
I disagree. Warlow takes over by the end with those glorious high notes
i never knew Javert and Enjolras had a duet
Thanks so much for uploading this. It's hard to find this song in tolerable quality.
That is kick ass.
eargasm !!!
2:31 I get chills every time.
Seems like a lot of people are confused by the title saying Anthony Warlow and Philip Quast as if that's the order they sing in. Warlow is Archibald. Quast sings first as Neville
These guys did it best!
I can only picture Snape. Makes me want to cry
I know that they're two separate works, but I can't help but draw the parallel and hear James and Snape in this. I actually doubt this is where Jo got it from, but it's a beautiful song and I can see the two of them singing this.

If James had survived and only Lily died. And then this is a duet between Snape and James during Harry's first year.
Snape: "He has her eyes. He has my Lily's hazel eyes. Those eyes that loved James Potter, never me!"
I think of these two singing every time I hear it now.
What I got from this: Javert and Enjolras singing about Cosette's eyes.
LOL
This ain’t Les miserables
this is philip quast as Neville and Anthony warlow as Archibald
My name is Lily and I have hazel eyes too
Those boys are singing to YOU girlie. You lucky, lucky girl. ;P
i love it right at 2:27 it's just amazing
This is the 1st male duet that has brought tears to my eyes. I would love to watch the entire musical is it on dvd or anything?
Those eyes that saw him happy long ago....
i heard that opening night of the first production of this show there was such a huge response they had to stop the show for a little bit to allow the people to sit back down and stop cheering
idk if that is true...but i think if it is true it's apropos...cuz this song is amazing

It was a genius work of literature that does not apply to everything.
Now stop it and just enjoy the Warlow and the Quast!
All I'm missing is Michael Crawford, and this would be musical heaven :D
Anthony Warlow.
I literally only know this song bc a bazillion years ago I searched 'Phillip Quast' in Limewire
Philip Quast.
im 13 and i freaken love this song this isent my normal music
Quast is singing Neville's part and Warlow is singing Archibald Craven's part.
I have just been looking for it and couldn't find it :*(((
Sorry, I'm new to Philip Quast, which part is he singing? Archibald?
It is in fact Anthony Warlow!
PHILLIP! :)
1:17 = eargasm
@whitefairy24601 I always imagined Snape and someone else, but this works good xD
Jekyll and Javert
If you like this version check out @BradRobinsMusic. I think you will really enjoy that as well. Look up Brad Robins "Lily's Eyes"
Is Philip singing Archibald in this recording? I understand he played Neville as well years ago.
Eric Patterson Philip Quast is Neville in this recording.
This song doesn't make me think of Snape. Snape makes me think of this song.
PHILIP QUAAAAAST
@Dirschbag couldn't agree more!
Anyone have any clue where on earth to find the whole play on youtube? even if it's a highschool performance.
YES
Does anyone know where to get the Viola sheet music for this?
My friend said this could easily be Snape and James singing over Lilly in the Harry Potter books. Seems to work, except that Lilly's eyes are green.
Love this song.
I want to find "I was here" But i cant find it anywhere.
In my marching band show
IT'S SEVERUS SNAPE'S THEME SONG!!!!!
all the dislikes are from Javert and Severus Snape on various accounts
I was thinking the exact same thing!
So use a different word for green; verdant, maybe.
Depends on the style of song...Philip has one of the great musical-theatre voices and this song is perfect this way. Operatic voices are not necessarily better they are different in emphasis and style. Suit different songs Bryn Terfel says this himself...and he has sung on stage with Quast.
@darknavyblue772 I actually just told my friends about this song in relation to Snape lol
How did you get this recording?
sorry. i cant help to think it's Snape and Sirius Black singing
Anthony Warlow . . . . his name sounds familiar for some reason
Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll and Hyde
@jesusthroughmary 0:00 - 3:14 = eargasm
Which part is Philip Quast singing?
oh come on hasselfhoff was FABULOUS in jekyll in hyde..... hahahahah TOTALLY kidding :D
@DisneyPrincessOlivia "Someone else"? It would have to be her husband.
I don't have that one, sorry. :(
maybe, but you'd have to contract it...like "em'rald" or something...
try itunes store
Bryn Terfel
I love Philip in this...and Andrew is great too. I just don't like the accent he affects as Archie.
Perhaps...yes, after he jumped, he came back as a caring, loving man, instead of the cold-hearted Inspector... :)
