    Things you might have missed:
-One of the guys handing the joint to Peter is a member of the cult. He did something with the joint to open him up to accept Paimon
-The first time they come home after the grandma's burial, if you pump up the volume, you can hear someone walking in the attic (probably putting the grandma there)
-The image of Paimon is holding a stick which is an arm pointing at something, that would explain why Peter put his arm up when possessed at school
-That same picture contains 3 heads, which are the heads of the sister, mother, grandmother.
-During the movie, we see the mail coming in throught the door. The first pamphlet is the spiritual seance. Since she didnt came to the seance, they sent Joan in the parking lot to meet her.
-The paint bottle falls by itself, Annie didnt touch it.

It's subtle but if you look closely no one knocked over the paint Annie was using while making some of her miniature models. Leading her to go back to the art store where she meets Joanie again to tell her about the seance. So yeah it emphasizes that they really do not have any control of the whole situation. As I get older, real-world horrors seem to trump the out of this world ones and seem to make the best horror stories. Grief, mental illness, loneliness and even the affects of the actions of your family members can truly be haunting when things go wrong. The atmosphere and sound design in this film along with the score...it fills in the space so well. The whole miniatures vibe too...it feels as they're always being watched. And of course...they were...

Completely agree and I think ari aster does an AMAZING job at blending the traditional horror elements with this sort of psychological- realism in which the real horror stems from experiences we have all faced,: loss, trauma, guilt, grief; and in midsommar: dependency, loneliness, toxic relationships, etc.

Oh man, you're a brave one for watching this a second time lol I remember this movie messing me up when I saw it at the theatre, it instantly became one of my all time favorites in the genre. I also noticed in my second watch the stuff with the miniature house and how it portrays the cult controlling every aspect of their lives. Gotta love Ari Aster for what he does in his movies, I don't think I've ever been that uncomfortable and anxious while watching a movie (Midsommar did it too). The part where Charlie dies is a masterclass in making the audience feel grossed out, anxious and just not wanting to be there. He does this so well. Alex Wolff´s acting is great, you can see every emotion he's feeling through his eyes and the way the camera just lingers on his face is simply genius, probably my favorite scene in the film.

I just wasn't in the mood to leave the house. But I sucked it up and went anyway. Well...I'm so glad I did. This turned out to be very different than I had expected from the trailer - in a good way! I mean that I still can get in the mood, get immersed in the atmosphere (if it's done well), but the feeling of dread rarely lingers after the movie ends. But this one really got to me and it actually was the first time in 10-15 years I had nightmares after watching a movie. I can't even think of anything I can compare it with. My parents watched this for the first time last week and they’re still traumatized by it. Doesn’t bother me as much because I had seen it twice before. Definitely the most insane horror film I think I’ve ever watched. Toni Collette should’ve WON best actress for this film and didn’t even get nominated.
Have you watched Sinister? Came out in 2012 I think. Some might write it off as a jumpscare fest but imo it’s right up there with this as the scariest horror film since the Exorcist. Pretty sure I saw a post somewhere that scientists deemed it the scariest horror film ever by studying the heart rate of people.
Btw great videos and love the channel. Been watching since I think 2K subs. Keep it up 💯

This movie blew me away the first time I saw it. Every time I thought I understood what was happening or what I thought was going to happen, I was thrown again. That shot of Peter's face just lingering in the car followed by the sounds of Toni Colette screaming in despair.... Chills. Ari Aster knows what the hell he is doing.

I’m an avid watcher of horror movies and nothing usually phases me, but the cinematography and sound design of Hereditary haunted me so much that I had to sleep with the lights open for 3 days following.
I went in completely blind and I’m so glad I did, I was NOT prepared.
The movie really gets to you, because from the accident to the very end of the film, it’s just an uphill road of anxiety and you never truly get a break, I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time.
It was amazing when the scene where Annie is on the ceiling in Peter’s room, in theaters you could barely see it, some people didn’t even notice. You could hear other watchers audibly gasp when they’d finally noticed.

Well, watching this with you, I realized why I thought that. It's a lion's roar that plays right then. Even the sounds they use are planting thoughts in our heads.

One of my favorite horror films. I think having a little knowledge on the occult and names of demons like "Paimon" and certain aspects of the rituals can boost your rating. Otherwise, it'll feel like a dark comedy to some. The details are even in the melody at the end there's a specific sound certain believers say this demon "Paimon" is associated with. The people who do these rituals aren't always sinister, but it's not farfetched to think some use it for bad intentions. This was a worst-case scenario. They did so much research for this film. A lot of foreshadowing and the family aspects make it feel authentic. Great reaction though brother, I always enjoy your take on films.

Horror is my fave genre because it's so unbelievably diverse. E.g. Someone once told me that Gone Girl wasn't horror and I was shocked, how can't that movie not be horror, to this day I'm still kind of afraid of marriage because of a human being like that. Horror is twisting the mind to a breaking point and to me how that is portrayed in media is amazing.
