I made a rectangle in a shady spot using concrete blocks along the ground. I filled it with dirt and we dump our kitchen veggie waste and coffee grounds in it and mix it around. I throw a few weeds and some bark in there as well. The worms are crazy in it. I take soil out of it to add in my potted veggie plants on my deck and at the end of the summer, I dump all that soil back in it to regenerate.

Vincent Shawn Gift I think it would be cool to have a gutter system off the barn near them that will drop rainwater from the barn into a pond area for the pigs. It can probably get a lot of water when it rains and would only take a few dollars in pipes
When your fishing for bluegills and sunfish you don’t have to set the hook like it’s a bass you just pick the rod up

@Christian LarsonDude he has walleye, hate to tell ya but big enough those will too. And that's the whole point of a pond. To create an ecosystem, beside pike aren't as bad as say...bowfin. They would also be very helpful to his frog problem, and pike taste AMAZING.

Usually in the spring the bass and walleye will be looking for minnows because that’s what they would be looking for in lakes and ponds

You should plan now and find a way to get the pond and minnow pool in shade and out of the sunlight. Especially with the walleye in there. One hot day and they will be dead and it will be too late.
Since the water in the small pond is so clear you should do a live cam on it so we can watch the fish

If the pool idea doesn't work out he should use it as a duck pond. Like so he can see
For worms, I read that it takes about a year for the nightcrawlers' offspring (10-15 babies for each worm) to get to full size. Red Wigglers would be good food because their reproduction cycle is less than one month and your population will double every 60 days or so in a healthy environment. Chicken food, fish food, bait... they would be great for ice fishing too.
you need a bridge/feeding platform over the fish pond. its a cool feature plus it will provide shade.

you should make a green sunfish competition at your farm and have little kids fish as much as they want and get the sunfish out of there and have however catches the most fish wins
Flair should link the bait pound with the bass pound filtration, almost make it a waterfall. So the outgoing to the filter would go to bait pond and then the water for the bait pond would water fall into the bass pond and create a water cycle filtration system.

You should run your pond pump hose to your minnows pond so it airates it the just have an over flow pipe back to the pond to airte it. You could do the whole system on one pump.

Another thing night crawlers,red worms love is corn meal. Me and my grandad use to burry old fridges,fill with mulch,dirt,leaves,cow and chicken crap,mix a little water in it get it smelling like a swamp,throw our left over night crawlers in them sprinkle corn mill on top., and let them do their thing
FLAIR you should throw dirt around the mini pond to clean it up a little! it could make it look really nice. and if you put sum gravel in the actual pond it could completely eliminate the Tarp look! and this is something you guys could do during quarantine !

You should look into building a fish shocker for the 10 pounder and you can stun and scoops tons of green sunfish out of your pond.
For future reference add water declorinator for aquariums it help the fish acclimate better.
