The gold clawed fiddler crabs you got I did a little research on and it turns out they are actually a brackish crab. The article said that they are mistakenly sold by pet stores as freshwater. It said that keeping them in freshwater instead of brackish water can shorten their life span.
I have tanks of Rainbow Shiners that I have bred this past year. They're SO fun, but I do it very differently. My pit nest is actually a dish filled with river stones that I harvest every 30 minutes throughout the day when they are actively spawning. Works like a dream. Good luck, they are an amazing species!

Chris: " and if your not, find something that makes you happy and puts a smile on your face " Me: " why do you think that I am here watching this video?
Even though this video is 2 yrs old, I just bought 12 R Shiners for 66$ online through a form, I seen his videos on how he raises them reliable source, & I kinda figured they'd be a little pricey I liked what I seen & we keep in touch through the form & email. I'm thinking of raising them for my fish store so they can get others in raising them, that will help the fish & make some $ to make this happen the conditions has to be met & they delv. If any 1 knows about them being a prolific breeder talk to me I've been watching videos about the breed & any help I can get would be a blessing, from what I've seen & heard about them they are some awesome fish to enjoy in the tank, I love that.
How did the breeding project turn out? Still breeding? I'd love some of these guys for my 120g but I can't get them locally but I haven't checked yet to see if my LFS can/will order some for me.
@Matt Reid I honestly didn’t want to. I was trying to let the tank cycle naturally and it took over a week. I will happily show the tests if people are truly interested
Nice but we actually have a lot of natives that rival tropicals in coloration, you should set up a native aquarium with species local to your area (I'm fairly certain all you need is a fishing license in tx if that's where you reside ) if you're curious about what species are in your area you can use fish map dot org, all you have to do is type in your zip then it'll give you a list of all the watershed in your area click on one (if you have more than one by chance ) and it will give you a list of all the species found in your watershed
Hey man! I thought he was talking about the native rainbow shiners, lol. These tropical fish lovers don't know crap! I use to keep and breed darters ;)
They are in fact brackish water animals. They do fine in freshwater as most are housed in freshwater and adapt prior to getting to you. Make sure you watch my next video as this was a concern for me as well, and they have gotten a new home!

I really liked the video idea and had considered subscribing but was disappointed by the end of the video because you never showed what this video promised, that is the breeding rainbow shiners for profit. I thought this video was going to show you actually breeding them and selling them but instead it was just a fluff video showing more setup and not breeding. I watched until the end only to be disappointed that what I came here for wasn't actually here.
This process is long. It will take a while at which time I will release a video. Sorry for the disappointment and hopefully you decide to come back and check it out again.
@@christopher_scott I know it is a long process. But in my opinion, something like finalizing breeding rainbow shiners for profit, would have made me realize initially that this was not a video about breeding them, but rather a video finalizing everything before breeding them. As I clicked on the video to see how you breed them, I was disappointed when I never saw how you breed them and I think could have been cleared up with a title slightly more true to the video. It is less search friendly, maybe but it is a lot more true and wouldn't leave the viewer disappointed for not getting whaat they came for. If you do end up spawning them, I will be interested in the true breeding rainbow shiners video.
