Sugar is written from the perspective of sleep (the deity)not vessel she is feeding on him and gives an insight into how “she” is just as reliant on him and his emotion and his desire for “her” as he is
A couple of years ago they played "Sugar" live a couple of times, during the second verse iii (bassist) was lying on the stage and Vessel was sitting on him and singing. removing this song from the setlist was a FUCKING MISTAKE
Once again, great reaction guys!! Spinefarm records, who signed ST at the time, described the song as "The darker intoxicating aspects of intimacy, a decline into obsession and Impulse. A cherry between teeth" and notice how Vessel goes from saying "I've developed a taste" to "I've got a taste" It's a addiction he can't control 👍🏻 Look forward to the next one fellas 🖤🫶🏼
This song is from Sleep's perspective, it's shown from notable call backs to The Offering but from a different persons POV. The Offering: "But I know you've got a taste, so just take a bite" Sugar: "I've developed a taste for you" The Offering: "Give up the game and let me in" Sugar: "You must be crazy if you think that I would give up the game"
I’ve been developing this idea that the offering is actually from sleep’s perspective, levitate as well. What do you think? Sleep is saying “you play your twisted little game” and she wants in so to speak.. and in the offering the line is “give up the game and let me in” Even in “give” the line that says “I am the intake of breath so sharp” I think anytime we see lyrics about getting in we’re hearing sleep’s voice through vessel
@@lolersauresrex8837 I still think its from Vessel's perspective in those 2, same with levitate. Now Higher I also believe is from Sleep's perspective. "You look for scarlet (Sleep) and I look for ultraviolet (Vessel)" speaks to how they want different things. Also ties into TMBTE lyrics "I dream in phosphorescence" which could be another way of looking for ultraviolet. Also in Higher this line stands out to me "You need the melody, I only need the silence" Basically Sleep acknowledging she needs him to silently worship her while he needs the "melody" or a more complex relationship. With any of their songs it is left somewhat ambiguous so people can impart their own experiences and meanings
I LOVE how much we can see in just your expressions alone how much you realize the talent that Vessel has 🥰 I so appreciate the reactions you guys have been putting out for them I feel like the line “Believe that though we never eat, we still know how to feed.” is representative to being caught up in the whirlwind of emotion/craving each other and feeling in general, so much so that it’s easy to forget the basic human needs like literal eating. I think many of us have experienced that. Despite that, they still need to satiate their desire and lust for one another. This song is VERRRRYYYY sensual, imo.
Sugar is produced so well - all their music is, but this one is toward the top. Loved how much y'all loved it! The next few are pretty straightforward, so just enjoy them :)
This one with the high and the deep voice sounds like a conversation between Sleep and Vessel. I like that style. It is gone on the last album, that feels like only Vessel is speaking there. Also on the EPs there is often that switch between Higher and lower register
IMO it’s from sleep’s perspective because of the lyrics. Vessels suffering is like sugar to “her” all of the lyrics reflect other songs but from a different perspective
This song is pure sex, period. This is what they call baby makin' metal. You guys are getting it, it's just too hard to explain. But that's the great thing about Sleep Token, they make you feel what they mean. There's no need to explain. Great video guys 💯🔥🤘😝🤘💕✌️
I can see that in the context of the lore... We're just not following that narrative per se. We are really just seeing what it means to us and sprinkle in a little of the lore when we feel like it can fit. But these words I've lived for a long time... So that's kinda the perspective I get off the rip. All the songs so far are pretty relatable
So, true story - I found this band because I was making a ‘sexy’ playlist for my anniversary… and thus Sugar made its appearance. I’ve been in love ever since. I’m so glad y’all experienced this finally. Told you it was a naughty one!
This song kinda reminds me of Darlin Nikki by Prince. Starts kinda slow and sexy, then gets to the crescendo and lays into it! Unc, I believe he's talking more about being addicted to the pain they cause each other, a metaphorical chain wraps them together. But he does have all those other lyrics about biting and bleeding, so he could very well be talking about BDSM stuff 😅. He could be a little kinky 😂. Nothing wrong with that! Love y'all breaking down the lyrics, there are so many interpretations to his lyrics it's nice to see what other people think. And the line about I won't fight fair was from Give. Til next time gentlemen! ✌️ Worship ❤
This song was designed for one purpose only - and I have one with another one on the way to prove it Edit: I’m only watching brothers react to sleep token for now on cause they get it - everyone of them
He seduces us with Give, then slaps us in the face with Gods, and the seduces us again (maybe threatens us a little? 🤣) with Sugar…he likes to keep us on a rollercoaster 🎢
Getting closer to the main course. DO NOT DO THE ROOM BELOW VERSION! Dont give in to the patrons and the sycophants on the first listen of "Bloodsport". Please listen to the visualizer/album version FIRST with the whole band and analyze it before you hear the stripped down version. There is more emotion to be felt and heard in the album version compared to the sadness in the stripped down version. That being said, enjoy everything up to it before you do that reaction. Enjoy this ride because the next album is straight boring af besides a few tracks. Referring to This Place Will Be Your Tomb.
TPWBYT isn't boring as an album. Maybe individual songs, kinda.. but works great as an album. It's actually the least boring of the 3 albums imo. 😊 And i agree to do the album version of blood sport first, then the room below. That way, the room below version just hits harder 🖤
Spoiler alert*** Even though no sleep token fan cares about spoiling anything LOL! But we did listen to this advice and glad we did! Stay tuned for the reaction
@@UncleTrebor hahahaha i don't consider it a spoiler if you don't say the outcome. 😁 Looking forward to more of your reactions, being someone who has come along the ST journey only also recently 🤭

REALLLL
That shit will make a man question things about himself! 😂 I’d love to see the Vessel lapdance some day.
Got people too Horny 😂
Reeeeeeal
I feel you guys hurt by it lol
Hands down the sexiest song in the whole catalog
Absolutely. Only closely followed by Like That. 🫠🫠

I’m gunna add upon re listening I’m thinking you might be right with the cut back to “do you wanna see how far it goes…” section
If you think the lyrics are like something from 50 shades of Grey, you should watch them perform it live
Might have to cover my eyes and shit lol
The next song in this album is by far my favorite. Vessel at his most open and vulnerable.
It was a good one!! Reaction coming up quick!
love your discussion...

Yeah I'm getting that vibe too! The explanations are getting harder and harder for sure!!
Pillow talk at the beginning
hot and heavy at the bridge
Our boy writing songs like R-Kelly (before the drama)/ Ginuwine
🥵🥵
Yep!!! Hey can't deny his song writing...
Sugar is the Nine inch Nails' "Closer" for this generation. Prove me wrong lol.
Sweet Worship! ❤
Clicking so fast for these reactions 🖤🌙✨
This is going to be so good!!! Let's go 😊
112 wrote peaches n cream. Sleep token bringing sugar
You're saying "that's Vessel." Nah, man, that's Sleep! Vessel is a scared devotee on the edge of destruction, this song is Sleep toying with her prey.
Think of Sugar as a response song to The Offering
"Take a bite" to "I've developed a taste for you"

Yup; It’s a back and forth between Vessel and Sleep’s relationship.
