  • It was actually MUCH MUCH easier to get the carbs off than I imagined. Just 3 fuel lines, 16 bolts (8+2+6). If I was just working on it and not playing with the camera it could have been done in less than a half hour. It turns out the previous owner of my wave raider lost a bunch of screws and bolts and didn't bother to reinstall them. I am scared of what I am going to find INSIDE the carbs :( I was amazed at how good of condition the base gasket was in.

    Awesome video. Its amazing how much more room you have to work with the wave raider over my same engine wave venture... I swear yamaha did not want anyone working on this one! Thank you again, i cannot see anything down there

    I found it a lot easier to remove the six carb to manifold nuts if you use a short box end wrench that has had the box end ground down to about 3/16 inch thick. Makes it a LOT easier to get into where the nut is and easier to get it onto the nut. It's also roomier if you remove the six screws under the three flame arrester screens and remove the rest of the air box.

    mine had studs and nuts on the top. Made it way easier it seems. Of course I dropped every one of them, but magnet fished them out. And as Tommy below said - removing the spark arrestor and that plastic thing on top makes for better room getting to those bolts/studs underneath.

    Also, the manifold bolt nearest the front of the wave runner and closest to the block was actually super easy to tighten during reassembly, you just have to put the wrench between the throttle and choke cables.

    The pulse-line being off will fool you into thinking it's carb problems.

    Awesome video, did you get any footage of the rebuild? Did you buy more bolts and from where?

    awesome easy to follow video! wondering if theres any follow up on the carb rebuild?

      tj fernandez The rebuild went fine. I cleaned out all the passages with an air hose. I am actually putting a new fuel pump on this week and making a video because the carb rebuild did not fix the bogging issue.

      Did the new fuel pump do the trick? I have a 1997 Wave Venture 1100. Looks to be the same motor. I am currently trying to diagnose a starting issue. Any tips for me? Do you have any links for troubleshooting this type of issue?

      Billy Gayton ever figure it out? I think I have the same carb, but only two of them off the 62T. The ski starts with carb cleaner but I think the carb needs to be rebuilt

      @@danield9824 I am currently having the same problem with my 1100. It will start with ether cold but even once its warmed up it bogs out on me. If i open the throttle up and release it will also die. gotta baby it to decelerate and it won't idle very long. I was thinking of adding a primer to use instead of the ether. but I wan't to clean the carbs first needs to be done. also list of things to do is replace fuel/oil filters and then plugs.

    Any clue how to change the coils on this model? If so it would be a great help!! Thanks and good video

      Thanks for watching :) I haven't had the displeasure of having to change my coils yet but from what I read It's just a remove and replace. Testing specifications are on page 7-9 of the service manual. Screenshot: i.imgur.com/04rS7FN.png

    my waveventure with the same triple 1100 cranks but it won't start, I already swapped the spark plugs and the battery has charge. the carburetor looks pretty clean as well. any idea of what it could be?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always fuel, compression, or spark. Check for fuel issue by spraying starter fluid for about a second burst into carb throat while cranking. If that doesn't work check compression with compression tester available for free rental at auto zone, advance auto, or oreilys. These are notorious for overheating due to oil pump failure and burning holes in pistons or deeply scoring walls. Finally, check spark with a spark plug test light, they might have them for free rental too but I bought one cuz they're always good to have. Good luck. Hopefully you'll spend more time riding it than fixing it this summer haha

      @@striker1211 thank you so much! We put starter fluid and it starts for a bit, but then dies out. Could it be the fuel pump?

    I might have to do this on mine. I smell some fuel in the hull and also when I drain plugs. What do you think it could be

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be oil, the oil injection lines on these like to disintegrate. If you're sure it is gas then check the fuel filter connection and all the easy lines first. Either way, you don't want gas in you're hull or you might find the ejection seat feature.

    Do you know where the Fuel pump is located?

    • @striker1211
      @striker1211  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a video on replacing the fuel pump if you search for wave raider 1100 fuel pump I'm the first or second result. But to answer your question it's at the end of the carburetors, if you follow the fuel line from the petcock you can't miss it :)

      I do not, sorry. The service manual can be found free by googling the following keywords: LIT-18616-RA-00 filetype:pdf . Thanks for watching.
