Written to refute the erroneous and bombastic ramblings of one Herr Eugen Dühring, who was causing consternation in the ranks of the German Social Democratic Party, then considered the leading force in the world socialist movement, the book has had a lasting impact because Engels took the opportunity to lay bare the fundamentals of Marxist Philosophy, Economics and Politics - scientific socialism - and to relate Marxism to the long development of human knowledge and human intellectual development, reflecting humanity’s shared history.
Comrades of the Communist Party of Great Britian (Marxist-Leninist) study such works to illuminate our understanding of modern Britain and the world, and help us understand the best policy and line to follow to develop the struggle of the British Working class for its social emancipation.
Our study and discussion illuminates, also, some of the shortcomings of the various existing political and “socialist” trends extant in Britain and the wider world today.
We firmly believe that without a revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement.
For this reason, and to help our viewers and supporters trying to get to grips with these works, we have decided to make publish these sessions, which consist of a concise introduction and summary, followed by a focussed discussion.
We are fortunate to have some of the leading party cadre participate in this discussion which is often as enlightening and interesting as the presentation, and deserves your attention.
We welcome your feedback and comments, and hope it will help your personal study. In the words of Marx:

Hi. I actually have question to british and other english speaking comrades. Why I never hear from you about Maurice Cornforth? Is there any seal of silence, or crucial criticism of his work? On my opinion he did great job explaining historical materialism and dialectical method using simple language, almost as great as Joseph Stalin did. Couple of books translated into Russian, and were published in USSR in 50s. In preface to second Russian edition for example Cornforth thanking criticism and corrections of his Soviet comrades. But the book still came out, regardless of some possible criticism. I consider his work very good source of Marxist philosophy and theory. Would appreciate if someone will clarify this question to me.
