This game would be even more interesting if it were being played in Austin, TX as originally scheduled. Regardless, it will be a great match up. Michigan getting 4.5 at home? Smart money will jump all over that. Being a home underdog will definitely crank up their intensity. If you can't stop the run consistently you can't beat the Wolverines.
I agree the single biggest key here is how Texas stops the run. Thanks for watching!
Horns stomped the Wolverines.
@@paulday5722 smart money was betting on Texas! Easiest money I ever made! 😂
it's 6.5 today and it looks like texas could beat them by even more
Um, you lost me when you said Michigan’s classic winged helmet was the “rising sun” helmet…huh?
Thanks for your comment
I'm sorry, I don't get it. Texas was great in the Big 12, the no defense conference. But they're playing a team that hangs their hat on defense and physicality. True, they beat Alabama early in the season last year, but I doubt seriously they could've beat them toward the end of the year. They lost to Washington who Michigan dominated. I think Texas is overrated, and that they're going to struggle in the SEC. I think Michigan will beat them by seven. I believe the defensive line will get after the QB, especially with Wink Martindale as coordinator, and they won't give Texas time to throw. On the other hand, Michigan will manhandle them, and wear them down with the RPO and our offensive line, which practices everyday against one of the best defensive lines in the nation. I love that the Wolverines are being underestimated. It just makes it that much sweeter when they win. We play OSU every year, and their offense is way better than Texas, so they don't scare us at all. What's funny about the Iowa hat guy is that he has OSU stuff on his wall. Which is it? Talking about QBs, didn't we win with Cade McNamara? Iowa's current QB? Michigan doesn't rely on QBs to win, and I know Orgi has to be as good as Cade, Mr. Checkdown.
Obviously, you know nothing about the Texas OL. Ewers is now experienced behind great OL, great RB's, and speed weapons all over the field. As far as defense, we're going to miss the two DL that went very high in draft, but we've got great depth. This game can go either way as it is will be a single digit game most probably, but you have to favor Texas with coaching continuity and QB experience.
@@devrixrobinson2591 It's true. Rutgers had a better defense than any team they played last year. Bama (18) and Wyoming (48) were the only top 50 defenses they faced.
@@devrixrobinson2591 Texas might beat us in Austin, but no way they beat us at The Big House!
@@sawyerw5715obviously, you don’t know football
@devrixrobinson2591 I can't wait to see you crawfish after season start about our horns you must not of looked at the guys that replaced last year lol..good luck and have a great season bud
I think it comes down to two: 1. Who's got better offensive/defensive lines?; 2. Is Michigan QB(s) going to make plays (or NOT make mistakes)? JJ McCarthy did one thing when here was with Michigan: make plays (or NOT make mistakes) when they were needed; he was clutch.
Michigans o/d line is better than everyone in the nation. Qb play won’t matter for Michigan. We don’t win bc of qb play, we win bc of defense and running the ball down your throat until you stack the box then we go air with mid passes.
Not betting this one, can’t wait to watch it. It’ll be a great game.
Texas has a clear advantage offensively, across the board. One can easily argue this is the best offensive line and qb in the country. Texas will run the ball effectively, they will throw the ball explosively.
On defense, Texas replaces two all-American defensive tackles, which is a tall task. However, their pass rush should be improved, and they will defensively force Michigan to throw and subsequently create turnovers. Texas will win
Thanks for such a detailed and complete comment. Probably one of the most anticipated games for next season, can't wait!
Texas doesn't play defense 😂
MIchigan is 22-0 at home their last 22 games. I like Michigan at home 38-24. This will be the best defense Texas will face all year.
Probably the best defense they’ve played in a LONG time
@MooseGoBlue last year don't matter anymore new team bunch of new talent for texas some ppl might want to some homework on the transfer portal and new top rated boys in high school football and be surprised on how much talent came to texas..texas by double digits
@@MooseGoBlue Texas plays Georgia so probably not
And what was bama's home record before texas beat them?
@@MooseGoBlue lol bro yall have no good talent or coach from last year everybody left Michigan you should too lol Texas by 3 touchdowns
Michigan fan hear and I don’t see Michigan winning unless one of their QBs and oline take giant leaps forward.
Valid concerns ahead of the season! Thanks for commenting the show!
Two big keys to this game: 1. Can the Michigan QB play mistake free football? 2. Can Texas stop the Michigan run?
Michigan doesn’t need flawless qb play. They win with defense and running the ball.
@@KyFiGzThat is a big question. Can Michigan run the ball. They lost their ENTIRE OL to the NFL. I’m tired of Michigan fans stating that the backups last year were really good and thus the will be great starters.
The Michigan run game vs. Texas run D is the key to this one. Both replacing a lot!
Michigan keeps it close first half ...
Texas 38
Michigan 13
Michigan has to score to keep up. They dont have the offense to that this year.
Michigan manhandled Washington who beat Texas with relative ease. And now Wink Martindale is DC of this Uber talented Michigan defense. You guys need to pray for Quinn Ewers that he makes it out of the Wolverine Den in one piece.
Certainly the continuity of Moore and Campbell on offense and adding of Wink on defense makes Michigan quite a team to deal with, thanks for your comment, all will be revealed soon enough!
Imagine using last year to decide this year Lmfao
Ewers is going to be chewing dirt the entire game
@@bool_aid_man510 Yes sir. Michigan's defense will be Fast & Furious. If Davis Warren starts at QB, I expect he and Donovan to lead a Kurt Warner/Marshall Faulk type of explosive offensive. The Greatest Show on Turf is coming to Ann Arbor this year.
@@gridirongodsnetwork Texas offense is fast and furious
for anyone thinking Texas, I have 1 simple question. Show me the matchup that they have the clear advantage. Because as it sits now I don't think there is one. While on the other hand I can give you a few that Michigan has the clear advantage and they are home with it being super early in the season.
Michigan's O-line, TEs and Run game have the advantage over the Texas front 7
Michigan's front 7 will have the advantage over the Texas run game
Michigan's secondary will at least match the Texas pass game. Texas's WRs are not better then OSU's the last 2 years or Washington's last year and I believe Michigan's secondary will be even better this year.
and Michigan's pass game even if its very little will have the mismatches with the TEs and RBs out of the backfield while also bringing 3 very explosive WRs against a Texas secondary that I don't think is that great (ranked 105th last season in yards per game)
Texas has an advantage at WR and QB. All that is meaningless though if Michigan is bringing back the elite defense they’ve had the past 2 years.
I think a huge advantage Michigan will have is playing this game at home in week 2 where Texas has no idea what Orji or Warren is capable of and the crowd at the Big House will be a major factor.
@@Adam-vs2in in terms of WR room vs WR room or QB vs QB yes its an advantage. However WRs don't go against WRs that is my point I don't think Michigan is scared at all of the Texas WRs or QB they have played better. and lets not forget that Michigan runs an elite NFL scheme designed to stop great offenses
@@jacobheminger5275 you just confirmed what I said about the defense. One thing I’m a bit skeptical of is this is not Minters defense anymore and he had them at the highest level I’d ever seen.
@@Adam-vs2in it will be interesting. Scheme is the same biggest difference will be play calling really but if Wink can stay will more simulated pressures over pure blitzing then your essentially looking at the same exact defense
@Adam-vs2in ill let you in on a little (not so) secret; it was NEVER the "Minter" defense at Michigan, it was the Wink Martindale defense, Minter was using at Michigan. Keep up, bud.
Texas was 7 for 7 in the red zone this past weekend.
One player that will wreck Michigan is Ryan Wingo!
Too much change at michigan. Can’t see them being able to score enough, 17-9 Texas.
Thanks for your comment, Moore's first big challenge as HC, a game not to be missed!
I don't see this game being particularly close 〽️. As others had pointed out, Texas didn't impress against Washington that seemed to have superior speed🤔. Washington was completely overmatched on both lines of scrimmage by Michigan 😤. Michigan's front 7 on defense is the best in College Football and they'll play Bully ball on Offense. Michigan by 10

@@Michaelwayne-y2t - you'll see in the 2nd week of the season. Texas choked last year and doesn't have a good defense.

Texas should out coach that incompetent Michigan coach but Jim’s players might power them through the bad coaching for one more year.
Incompetent? The man is undefeated and won on the road at penn st. Tf
Thanks for your comment
For those of you who are picking Michigan to not only win, but bully and blow out Texas, I have a few things to point out.
1. Michigan is going to start a QB who did not attempt a single pass last season…not one. I don’t care who you are, coming into a game and trying to beat Texas with the only game in which your QB attempts a pass is against Fresno St. is not going to have you prepared for the Longhorns.
2. On top of that, Michigan lost their two top receivers, Wilson and Johnson. The top returning pass catchers are TE2 and RB2. And to be clear, neither Loveland nor Edwards would start at Texas.
3. Yes, Texas lost their starting All American DTs to the NFL, as well as first team All-Big 12 MLB Jaylan Ford. But here’s the deal guys, they only played half of the defensive snaps for the Horns. Meanwhile, Michigan lost DT1, Edge 1 & 2, and LBs 1 & 2. This doesn’t include the 4 LBs who left in the portal. It also doesn’t include losing CB1 to the draft and 2024 projected started DJ Waller to the portal.
4. According to the number of snaps played by each player, here is who Michigan lost:
QB 1 - J.J. McCarthy, 650 snaps
RB 1 - Blake Corum, 363 snaps
TE 1 - A.J. Barner, 505 snaps
WR 1 - Roman Wilson, 417 snaps
WR 2 - Cornelius Johnson, 532 snaps
Olinemen 1 - Drake Nugent, C - 671 snaps
Olinemen 2 - Trevor Keegan, OG - 662 snaps
Olinemen 3 - Karsen Barnhart, OL - 661 snaps
Olinemen 4 - Zak Zinter, OG - 649 snaps
Olinemen 5 - LaDarius Henderson, OL - 460 snaps
Olinemen 7 - Amir Herring (4-star sophomore)
Michigan will have virtually an entirely new offense featuring a QB who has thrown all of 1 pass in college, and an inexperienced OL who has a combined 512 snaps: fewer than any one of their top 4 linemen from last season, and barely more than the 5th. Their top two receivers and TE1 are gone and their new OC, when asked about adding a WR from Youngstown St., said, “We just don’t even have numbers - You look at the roster depth, you need enough guys. We just got to make sure we have enough guys to field the roster.” Demorion Walker from Ole Miss is more likely to play DB than WR.
On defense, Michigan is in only marginally better shape. Experience matters on defense because of its read and react nature. Losing this many of the top experienced players at each position is going to matter. The Big House may be loud when Texas has the ball and will probably cause a penalty or two. But the Wolverine defense is going to have to communicate in that noise as well and mistakes in blown coverages will happen. The 2024 Wolverines aren’t the ’85 Bears or ’00 Ravens. Gone are these guys from last year’s team:
DT 1 - Kris Jenkins - 314 snaps (8th in tackles)
CB 1 - Mike Sainristil - 498 snaps (4th in tackles)
CB 2 - Josh Wallace - 449 snaps (18th in tackles)
LB 1 - Junior Colson- 498 snaps (1st in tackles)
LB 2 - Michael Barrett - 424 snaps (2nd in tackles)
Edge 1 - Jaylen Harrell - 356 snaps (1st in sacks - 6.5)
Edge 2 - Braiden McGregor - 318 snaps (4th in sacks - 4.5)
Texas lost a great receiving corps from last year but are still loaded at the position. A top awards candidate at QB behind possibly the best returning OL in the country and an excellent RB room. Michigan’s rebuilt defense will be tested early. I’m guessing they will fail that test. Texas will score 27-31 points and Michigan’s offense won’t be able to keep pace. Mind you, it would not surprise me to see Texas score 35-38.
Returning CFP #1 in class AL beating QB v new QB. Big Advantage TX. Sharps likely taking Under.
Like the Texas QB has a hope in Hell😂. You might want to replay the Texas -Washington game and then check out the Championship game!! That Michigan D-line didn't leave for the NFL and judgement day is coming at the Big House 〽️

Texas by double digits.
Will not happen, if they win it will be less than three points. Michigan has a goddie record in Ann Arbor.
@toddfortune3480 Bama said the same thing last year. Just remember, you heard it here first.
@@chewbaka1496 what does bama have to do with it🤣
@johnnyoldenjr. You're correct. Bama has nothing to do with Texas beating Michigan by double digits. 😂
You mean losing by double digits. Easy win for Michigan.
Texas historically handles Big 10 teams and that style of play.
I did the research and I could be wrong, but it looks like Text has a 10-8 record vs BT.
They beat Michigan by one point on the last second field goal so not exactly dominating anybody.
