KANAMI is a top tier composer - she knows how to construct songs that show off each element of the band while still sounding cohesive, and even though people were concerned about how anime companies can supposedly be restrictive in how their themes sound she can work within those limits and still produce something great.
Always appreciate your videos. A lot of channels label themselves as musicians reacting, but never say anything with musical insight. Kanami’s solo was basically a whole extra song.
I love Kanami's extended solo in this one. Most Maidiacs say "about time"! A VLOG'er pointed out that during the chorus seemed to be "noodling around". Most guitarists would consider that intricate playing as an amazing riff.
Chris it's great you talked about writing your solos before performing it. On the Band-Maid Prime network, they released a video of them practicing "Hate?". The Maids were casually dressed and non-chalantly practiced the song complete with the bass/guitar duel between MISA and Kanami. It was if the said to themselves, "ho-hum, let's the work done on this one and me on to the next one." Now that is professional musicianship!
Gentlemen, I never thought that I would say that I have a favorite song by the Maids. Whatever song i am listening to at the time is usually my favorite. This song picked me up, slapped me around, and left me completely blown away. Damn... Band Maid doing Band Maid things.
Every new Band-Maid song rings out with new and innovative riff and chord structures, beat patterns and fills, vocal runs, backups, melodies and lyrics. The Maids continue to pack so much into their songs without them feeling cluttered, repetitive or overplayed. Their composition and execution is always refreshing and amazing to witness and hear. Once again, the supreme Maids -- Kanami, Saiki, Miku, Akane and MISA -- push their contributions to exciting, new levels of writing, playing and performance! We are so lucky to be living in the age of Band-Maid!🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Chris & Sam!
Primal forces of (hard-)rock. These brilliant ladies play in a league of their own. And the genre was never more vitally alive. A masterpiece this! But no, that's too tame. I meant: a MASTERPIECE this!!
All 3 of their signature guitars in one video, and also Akanes' signature Wincent sticks. How many bands can say all their musicians have a signature model ?
Really glad you made the distinctions you did about most anime music and what Band-Maid does. As an anime fan, I've always felt that Band-Maid does it differently. They're never follow the scattered, kitchen & sink formula that you often get with anime OPs/EDs. Their anime work is always crafted to work within a larger whole, and it's why the full version stands on its own so well.
thats depends, alot these artist make a song only for anime in mind, but alot ohers some songs are made first, but the band choose using the song in the anime,
I think it's also because Band-Maid needs to set them apart from generic anime theme songs to make their name. Glay can do something generic every time they release anime ops and that doesn't make them less famous. But Band-Maid isn't a mainstream band so they got to make the strong impact in just a minute or two.
Great reaction guys. Nice to see Band-Maid making the line up again. And what a great song. As to your comment of "What's going on here?" It's just Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things.🤭 Keep rocking with the Maids. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
It's often pointed out that MISA is soloing, or close to it, herself during Kanami's solos. So actually, kudos for not getting hyperfocused on the guitar like most of us would on the first listen 😊
How many signature guitars do you need on one stage? The correct answer is 3. Watch the trailer to the Anime. You will see how the Maids, with this song, is going to make this show take off. Guaranteed.
The anime is about an artist who literally "Works herself to death" and could be seen as a protest against a Japanese work ethic, and this song as it's anthem which will resonate with it's audience.

👍2nd this. 🖖❤

Always look out on the 2nd verse for each of Band-Maid songs. Truly a masterpiece.
Enjoyed the reaction!

For me the backing vocal is the mvp in this track.
Thanks for the reaction.
Band-Maid World Domination

And Saiki has a signature voice
Geezzz, you opened my eyes!
Always cool to hear your opinion on the Maids, when musos talk, I listen.
Her new signature PRS is beautiful and as always the tone is perfection
🤘🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥A Masterpiece💙💙💙
I saw a comment "that solo belongs on 'Bitch's Brew" (Iconic Miles Davis album). Thought - yup, more free jazz than regular rock and roll.
They released a Kanami Version teaser of this song no long ago.

This is my new favorite Band-Maid song. It rocks! And yes, Kanami's solo was awesome!! Great reaction!

Well, actually she ate a bad clam and died from food poisoning while at work..
💜💛❤💙💚
👍👍👍👍👍
Glad they had a bit of fun with TW but this, this is back to the masterpiece that is BAND-MAID.
If you haven't checked out Honkai live by Band-Maid you need to. You don't want to miss the funky bass and drum intro!!!
🤘🤘🤘
a long time ago i went "triplet picking" and wound up in jail. just sayin'
ZEN is maybe BAND-MAID’s seventh anime song, but it’s their first opening theme.
I think ZEN has KANAMI’s longest solo.
Different was the opening for Log Horizon S3 and Sense was the one for Platinum End.
🤘😛🤘🎸🔥🔥
