    Love the Mutemath licks at 1:38 & 1:50! One of my very favorite bands. Such an awesome progression they’ve had from that album to their latest.

    bigsky seems to be more behind the dry signal; the revelation seems to be a little more in your face and holds more low end

  • @theaaronimal
    @theaaronimal ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow! The Revelation is really impressive! If I were starting from scratch, I'd consider that over the BigSky!

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For real! Even for a mini board or something you get SO much with such a small footprint

      I am starting from scratch. I had imposter syndrome thinking it was BigSky or go home. This sounds so good, it sounds… more refined. At least in this video.

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Jesse_Johnson Hey Jesse I totally get that. It was the same for me, I felt like the BigSky was the finish line and I wouldn't be "good" until I got one. Which honestly is a small part of why I decided to drop it off my pedalboard. I don't want anyone feeling imposter syndrome while watching my videos, or thinking they need to go buy all the same gear I have in order to sound good. There's so much great gear out there nowadays!

    I recently switched from my Big Sky to the Walrus Audio Slöer. It has three presets which is plenty for me, great form factor, and love the tones. Plus I am from Oklahoma so I gotta support my fellow Okies. 😎

      Haha niccee gotta support the Oklahomies. The Sloer looks super cool!

    Really loved the wicked game inspired chord progression

      I think he was playing the outro for the song Control from MUTEMATH

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Which part was this? I'm gonna look up the wicked game bc I'm not familiar with it haha

    • @bobbypm9871
      @bobbypm9871 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha, when you demoed the Plate settings, it sounds like the live version of Control from MUTEMATH. Different key, though.

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL that's the same progression. Totally unintentional but makes sense considering I've been rocking that album a lot lately 😂@@bobbypm9871

    Both are awesome. IMO, the Big Sky sounds a little more "open" and a tad more natural while the Revelation sounds "fuller". its a little like comparing open headphones to the closed one. Might just score a revelation for my second pedal board

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! That's a good way to put it. I noticed that the BigSky tapered off a little more quickly, and also had much more high end on tap. The Revelation did feel more rich and full to me. Both are great!

    Revelation seems like a great pedal for the footprint and price. I still prefer the overall sound of the Big Sky, but the Revelation is a really nice pedal. What were the settings you were using for the anti-shimmer for the Big Sky? That sounded really great. Excellent video, as always.

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ben! I used a Shimmer reverb on the BigSky and set it to an octave down. I used a pretty high mix so the octave would be pretty prevalent. I'm happy to email you the preset if its something you want to use!

    Great job, Sam! I wonder what are the settings that you used on the spring and room settings. Is it from the factory presets? Cheers!

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! 🙏🏻 Those weren't factory presets, I just dialed in some quick sounds that felt good and then tried to replicate them on the Rev

    The sky definitely is better but the revelation can definitely keep up on its own. It’s crazy that the revelation sounds like that for the price

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was actually surprised how different they were from one another. BigSky has way more parameters to choose from but I'm actually finding myself preferring some of the settings on the Revelation. Agreed though, it's hard to beat!

    What about cloudburst?

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cloudburst also would be a great option! Might need to compare that against these in a future video

  • @deadtothewxrld
    @deadtothewxrld ปีที่แล้ว

    I definitely like the Big Sky more, but in practice, I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference in a live band scenario.

    • @SamWittek
      @SamWittek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! Having the extra parameters to play with is nice on the BigSky, but you're right, they're so close that most people will not be able to tell in a live mix

    There is definitely something going on the Strymon -a buffered signal which colors the dry with its own way
