You don’t really “need” them but the old ones didn’t have them and I noticed they broke a bit easier. One of ours broke during the move because it stretched out without the screws holding it in place.

What are the measurements that you used for the matting?
My ikea frame has these brackets on the back that require you to use screws, as well as those fastener tabs. They must have updated the frame design.
They did update! I had to buy a new one recently and they now have the screw fasteners thank goodness because they really do make a difference

Umm not really as they don’t really get touched but they are inexpensive, so I imagine they don’t stand up as well as a higher quality product
