Lidia surely has taken EVERYONE by surprise! Lidia in the 5 PM EDT advisory has intensified by 55mph within 24 hours to 125/950! By comparison, Lidia was 70/985 24 hours ago! That is a 35mb drop in the last 24 hours, which on average is around 1.5mb drop per hour!! The NHC is not ruling out C4 status before or at landfall! If Lidia attains C4 status before landfall, that is going to be the STRONGEST HURRICANE and first C4 landfall since Kenna 2002 and even Patricia 2015! For reference, Roslyn last year made a C3 landfall! On a related note, Bolaven is also rapidly intensifying in the WPAC after passing near Rota. JTWC is now calling for C5 at 165MPH!! If that verifies, that will be the 8th C5 this year, and the 2nd C5 officially in WPAC!
@@stormdennis9042 Looking at the recon as I just finished college and at home, the highest SFMRs are 105kts w/ 115kt FL winds... The dropsonde in Lidia recorded 951mb in the eye w/ 14kts winds. Given the data, I'd say Lidia is well on its way to C4, if not already there. As for the dropsonde data, the 951mb could be at 946-949mb instead given the proximity to the eye and Lidia's RI phase...

Lidia has definitely overperformed and probably will catch a lot of people by surprise
Yep, now 125mph...
it peaked at 140, which was surprising not going to lie
Now it is a Cat 3
😮wow....l hope the Mexican port n beyond are evacuating.# stay safe Amigos
How is that part of the coastal geography for storm surge vulnerability?
This isn’t good as a Mexican I’ll be informed now constantly
My prediction: 115 mph, 960 mb
Lidia is already up to 125mph and 950mb. Could make landfall as a Category 4 if this keeps up for the couple of hours.

Bro wants to be Patricia
If Lidia continues to intensify to C4 before landfall, that would be the FIRST C4 landfall since Patricia 2015, and the strongest since Kenna 2002!
oh yeah ur right@@notmrpopular0099
@@notmrpopular0099Correct omg
It has hit Major hurricane cat 3 115 mph heading for Mexico
Now 125...
@@Jason-..- Really?
Yes, recon found over 105kts SFMRs with 115kts FL winds, MORE than enough for C3!
Dangerous storm
