Bought a 70 Z28 in 72 with 8700 miles from a guy that bought it new but was afraid of it. When I was going to test drive it the owner asked me if I was going to drive it rough, his words, not mine I said hell yea I have to see how it runs. He said go ahead he would wait there. So I took it out and got on it. The motor was so loaded up from him driving it that at about 5000 rpm it started missing so bad I thought it was going to blow the choke plate out of the Holly. When I got back to his place I told him It had a bad miss and he said he knew it and sold me the car for $1700. I brought it home put on a set of headers and some turbo mufflers, screwed in a new set of plugs and ran it past the 6500 red line to seven grand. With the rock crusher and Richman 456 rear gear change I made it was a terrific stop light to stop light racer. Lucky premium gas was only 30 cents a gallon!
At the time, the car mags said the styling was based on the Ferrari Lusso. As time went on, they got a little busy looking. Then came the 5mph bumpers ouch.
People did not put 2 year old cars in shows, when you seen such a thing, They drove them and that was it. Back in the early 70's unless it was a custom they didn't get put into a show. Not like now when they take their Mustang, Camaro from the dealer Friday and put it into a show Saturday. Wasn't "the thing to do" and we didn't call each other a "car guy".
Hey Chuck great story I have mulsanne blue 70 Z28 thats looks like lt had hard life wanna buy it to add to your collection.classic camaro acc will sell her...
OMFG!! NO PLEASE PLEASE leave it alone. stain's flaws the whole thing. just leave it be and GM would spend a good dime for that. the owner should vacuum seal it.
Man at least put fresh fluids in the thing and get some miles on it. Its sat long enough. Miles wont hurt value one bit despite the sky is falling crowd.

That Car Styling is absolutely perfect. Even in 2010. Classy, timeless.

Cool car.. I feel bad for the owner though. They never enjoyed it!!
Apparently the owner had more money than brains, to park this car over a chip in the paint, ??? LOL
Wow, unbelievable... How much would this machine would be worthed?! OMG, keep this icon safe! :-)
I'd guess 150K
Less than $50k
@@barnabyjones5161 It would bring plenty more than that today
Awesome find Charlie. It must look sweet sitting next to Jackass !
Interesting a LA built car was sold new in Chicago.
@ezcondition: vacuum seal it! My words!!
the split front bumper makes it a 70 and a half
jerry scarberry btw : The split bumper does not designate, that it's a 70 1/2, but RATHER, that it came with what was called, the rally sport option.
Z22 option you could order a Camaro with v6 and have the z22 option
No, it makes it a RS Camaro
The low back seats with headrests tell you it is a 70 1/2
It should of had a 4speed .350/360 hp solid lifter cam .if was a true z
OMFG!! NO PLEASE PLEASE leave it alone. stain's flaws the whole thing. just leave it be and GM would spend a good dime for that. the owner should vacuum seal it.
original oil filter.. maybe its better he parked the car
its a Camaro z28 with RS ...Z22 option...Z22 is a apperiance otion
