Lovely study and grafics thank you. This is very similar to our summer and winter pattern in Germany, near the Alps. So I presume you are at altitude with cold winter nights. Was the new Brood development on the east (morning sun) or the West Side? What direction do you face your entrances? 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for watching. This Apiary is about 1000m above sea level and only goes to a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius, so it is not extremely high or cold. It is interesting that you talk about the sun direction as I am sure it has an impact on maintaining the warmth of the colony, I do see my hives that have sun early in the morning are most active from early but tend to be less active in the late afternoon. With this hive the entrance faces East, and in the apiary, the hives face various directions we consider shade and sun for the seasons when placing them. Summers can be very hot. Thanks for commenting and your support I am very interested in beekeepers from around the world and their practices.

Thanks for watching. Our bees on this site in the lowveld in South Africa are pretty aggressive. We keep the smoker going to just keep the pheromones at bay and that way the bees are easier to work. The last short we posted shows how they can attack when not smoked sufficiently. Appreciate your comment. Thanks.
