    I've never told anyone this. Earlier this year I was going through a guided meditation where I was asked to go down into Mother Earth. It was beautiful forest, with plants I've never seen. Some of the trees had blue leaves. And I sat down at one point, and even though there were stones, it was very comfortable, even welcoming. And now, listening to you, I wonder if I was there. Thank you so much! I loved this!

    Thank you for making this marvelous video! I really appreciate learning more about Annwfn. It's a name and a realm that has always haunted me and called to my heart and imagination, ever since I was a child.
    My own theory is that it is a very real place, located in another "loca" or plane of parallel existence and consciousness to our own experiential world. This is not to say that physically embodied people cannot or do not go there at times. I think that gateways or portals exist which may open only at certain times between the worlds, or perhaps they may be traversable if one knows the right form of magic, or is gifted with the visionary acuity to see the subtle world of energy, beyond the normal ken of mortals.
    I honestly think that there may be many worlds, accessible from different points on our planet, or perhaps there is one main "otherworld" that is a globally available cognate to our own. Native Americans, Africans and especially the Irish, all have rich folklore involving a parallel world, and all of the stories I've learned over the years have an eerie similarity when describing this world, and the methods by which it may be accessed.
    In our modern time, I'm sure you may be aware, great attention is being given to unexplained human disappearances, and in some of those cases the disappeared persons have returned to our world. They tell of lost time, or time distortion; they tell of suddenly finding themselves in unfamiliar terrain, with no visible pathway back to the place they had been only moments before crossing over. They tell of strange -looking animals and plants, or stranger still- of people unlike ourselves. They tell of people with strange clothing, speaking in strange tongues, and of people much taller or much smaller than most people are in our world.
    I believe it to be possible that these returnees from the otherworld, even the people who disappear and reappear on other continents, may in fact be experiencing visits to the same place that is known in Wales as Annwfn, and in Ireland as Tir na nOg. Or I could be totally off base, of course. (I also agree completely with your theory about vast subterranean worlds. That too may be the answer... or maybe both are true somehow?
    Lovely stuff, altogether. Thanks again. Beannachtai ort, agus Slan go foill. --Naomi

    Not far from the shores of Llyn Brenig, a huge and breathtaking Ash tree grows from an ancient stone wall. The roots of the tree took the wall and encaged it, and over hundreds of years the stones have moved and eroded and been forced apart. You can look right through the cage of roots onto the misty hillside beyond. You could crawl through it with a little effort. I don't really have a theory of what Annwfn really is, but I had never even heard of Annwfn until I saw this video, and immediately it hit me that this fits with the lore of a story I've been working on recently. It is a fan-fiction, Power Rangers, but it is a whole new team that gets their powers from the creatures of the Chinese Zodiac (dragon, tiger, horse, hare, rat, dog, monkey, snake, ox, ram, boar, and rooster; yes, there will be 12 Ranger total), but these creatures are "spirit beings" that give them a fraction of their own magical powers, and the Rangers fight against an evil demonic sorcerer with an army of demons and undead. The thing is, the 12 Zodiac creatures and the demons they fight are all spirit beings that come from the Spirit Realm, which is meant to be a magical, parallel dimension to our own, where souls go when they die, but is also inhabited by these spirit beings, and the realm itself looks very much like the Mortal Realm, and regions of the Spirit Realm correspond to regions of the Mortal Realm (for example, the region corresponding to Asia looks very much like Asia in terms of geography and the cities look like those of Asia several hundred years ago), and it is implied in the story that many of the myths and legends about supernatural creatures and people is from the mortals trying to explain and interpret what they saw when they had encounters with these spirit beings or somehow traveled to the Spirit Realm, as there are hidden portals between the realms. I plan on having the Rangers not only fight against demons, but also meet and interact with other spirits, even famous creatures and people of various mythologies from around the world, and also make several visits to the Spirit Realm in different parts of the world; so the whole story, which is turning out to be a very long and complex one, is just a chance for me to express my love of Power Rangers as well as incorporate my knowledge and love of all kinds of mythologies. So, I think I will incorporate the legend of Annwfn as being how mortals many centuries ago in the region that became Wales interpreted the Spirit Realm and the spirits they encountered, and be the name that that region of the Spirit Realm is referred to. So thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it and it has proven most helpful and inspiring. 😁

      @@the_liminalwitch Awesome! 😁 Yeah, every-so-often I'll do a little research into various mythologies from around the world, mostly watching videos similar to yours, to find new things to incorporate into the story, mainly creatures that the Rangers could encounter, and notable figures of legend that they encounter, as friend or foe. Right now it is mostly just world building, so I can make sure the lore is consistent, but I am almost done with the first portion of the story, which I'm planning to finish, edit, and then post online for others to read, sometime next year, before moving onto the next portion. 😁

    I truly feel that Annwfn was likely a term to describe many things, all at the same time.
    For example, Annwfn being a term to describe the soul journeying into the inner parallel realms in which non-mortal spirits reside. This both encompasses journeying through the self into another world.
    Whether we choose to go to other spirit realms or we're innitiated by spirit, or unintentionally taken there.
    I have experienced both, but haven't experienced any physical beings or buildings so I can't touch on that.

    Of course I know. I was doing camping in the north of France, spending days alone in the wilderness near the coast. If you can meditate you may "see" and "hear" a lot of little folk and strange creatures. Then as you open up some may come to your dreams and further guide you. If you want to break down the oldest accounts rationally, Annwfn is depicted as a parallel universe where the laws of physics are different, and no entropy exists. Every bulding is described as always looking freshly made and entire fortresses can shift between realities, so it's def not a state of mind or a distant place. Yes, it is referred to as "underground" but it has a sky and ancient rituals show us they saw it as a literal world orientated upside down below us. In other words, it is close but different.

    • @the_liminalwitch
      @the_liminalwitch  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah of course, this would be the rational way of looking at it and I think this holds a lot of value when it comes to exploring Annwfn- but I do think we should all take some time out to research & digest it for ourselves and see what it brings to the surface within our own hearts and minds too, mixed in with the traditional accounts
