    Great stuff here Shawn....I heard Manuel de la Torre say the same thing last night in the following way, "it's like someone shooting a gun and being focused on the bullet, instead of the target." As you call it, "flight plan"......you're both great teachers!

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So well said! Like looking at the basket ball instead of the net and the arc the ball will take to fly into it.

      @@golflessons yessss....so many examples all around us and yet when it comes to smashing those little white balls with a club so many seem to only focus on the ball, instead of the task at hands....swinging the club in direction we want that ball to go and seeing its flight plan before we ever step up behind it! I love your 4 point check list here.....came to this after seeing your video on Moe and his lead knee....off to see the other 2 you made i found in your uploads on the same topic....part 1 & 2
      Thanks again Shawn for all you do to share your Wisdom with us all on TH-cam!

      Yes sir! This one is such a sleeper! We have this as “predict contact” and the “goldie locks series” on our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com where we go over each point separately in each video with multi camera angles.

    Thanks Shawn for posting this video, golf instructions seem to concentrate on mechanics but you actually talked about the mind set during a round of golf, excellent instruction.

      Thank you Peter! Wait till you see what we will have on tap on our premium channel this winter season! Meditation and practicing golf shots will be one in the same; which means you will be able to tap into the zone or flow state at will! Golf has never been taught this way ever and when PGA tour pros get to play this way, 59’s will be much more accessible!

    This is Karma. Only today I was grappling with the question of how to improve my focus and stay with the task. You are the top man Shawn. I used this checklist as part of my setup routine, today. It gave me a big improvement in my focus. Thanks Shawn.

    Love this vid! So key too making a good swing is having a plan (draw or fade) which determines your setup. This setup is NOT performed in a vacuum, but instead has everything to do with your target. This keeps you on task. I'm thinking that many problems could be taken care of by going through this process each swing.

    I couldn't wait to try this out and it did not disappoint. Each shot had a plan. It's much easier to stay with the shot because the shot and target are the priority. I will say too that it helps you to fine tune your game. For me, I rarely default to the ball anymore. So, when the ball goes off-line, I check my setup. Especially my grip. I noticed that even for the fade, the grip needs to be somewhat strong or else the ball starts right and keeps going right. The grip for the draw is super strong. All I can say is thanks, because this is how the game should be played. I wish that you, Shawn, were more of a Dave Pelz disciple when it comes to the wedge game. According to Pelz, wedge shots are a completely different shot and need to be treated as such. Aside from the different lengths of swings, the swing is basically a finesse swing with a weaker grip. You don't coil or use the ground like you would if you were trying to compress the ball. It's like a dead arm, no leg, turn through the shot. I have found that even on courses where the greens are not holding, the finesse wedges will stop. And you have 12 different distances (24 if you choke up on the club) from 125 and in.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on Thomas! And when you get good with those distances; you get to where goldielocks is enough! :)

    • @golflessons

      This can be done withing 10 seconds tops when you rehearse it at the range or even at home in the backyard without even having to swing!

    Great stuff Shawn! The value in this video for me was the realization that I'm probably not 100% committed to a shot plan most of the time. I think if I applied this on the course to even 90% of my shots I'd shave 3-5 shots a round. Looking forward to trying this to help let the ball get in the way of the club and reduce the "hit impulse". Thanks again for your time and effort! - Chris

    I love the instruction. Shawn Guided me towards this series of videos to explain how you don't need to go over the top to hit a fade when you throw the club. Although this is great advice, and I will definitely use it, I fail to see how that club path is not out to in on his fade. It doesn't loo to me that he is just catching it at the end of the arc. Even if he was it would still mean that you just moved the ball far enough forward and adjusted your position so that when you connect with the ball, path is out to in and the face is open to the path at the time of contact. He looks to be standing open. Path sure looks out to in. I'd like to see this done on the launch monitor to see exactly what is happening. I do like the feel of it when I try it tho. Great video.

    the beauty of the net return is is returns the shot you hit. so if you hit a draw, it will come back left side of screen which it did for him. then a fade will go to the right. so it's a good feedback mechanism as well even if indoor

    What your going to say and do lol I bought your course and watched all your lessons simple and effective if you keep your attention on target! Not so easy for me to achieve but still trying haha when it happens its amazingly effortless >
    I don't know if its me or clubs but do get lots of height and lose distance accuracy is great just no distance? I'm 61yrs now driver going better and further than ever but disappointed with irons and if I try to hit harder I shank short irons? What could be wrong? Thanks for your wisdom sharing Bob

    Mr C I'm loving your vids and fully dedicated and seeing results. Only problem I'm having is tilting too much with short irons and getting poor contact. Anything specific I could work on?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Scott! Do a goldielocks with your tilt!! If you tilt way too much, you will be off balance and will not be able to cut through the stem properly and hit a bunch of grass and ground before the stem; if you don't tilt enough and put the head in front of thw ball, you will feel like the whole planet is waiting for you on the other side of the ball;
      So which tilt will get you through the stem and along the ground towards the direction you want to start the ball?? Use a door frame like in my "tilt-turn-swing shawn clement video"

    • @sco3putt

      Shawn Clement Excellent!! thank you this has been a problem for me for years. Finding you has given me the freedom through the ball but I guess the shorter shaft makes me bury my right shoulder.

    "The Plan" makes all the difference in the world!
    As a new golfer it was tough to wrap my head around that because I really didn't know what to expect... I :'thought" it was going to be "put the ball there" but there is not enough... The HOW is the ball going to fly there is the key

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly!!! You must understand what the tool is designed for and then the brain can problem solve the case!:)

  • @simonleach3812
    @simonleach3812 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Since you want to bottom-out target side of the ball, the natural shape with an iron should be a draw and the natural shape with a teed up driver should be a fade (because you've bottomed-out before impact) but it does not work out this way because, I suppose, there are other factors in the swing "event". Please explain.

    I still do not understand ball position for the fade and draw , is it swing path , and position same as a ‘straight aim to target? Or different?

    • @simonleach3812
      @simonleach3812 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The target line is left for a fade and right for a draw. The swing is the same, you are just collecting the ball in different parts of your swing for fade and for a draw.

    This really works. At the practice range today all my irons were crisp and I had excellent distance. Same for 3W. Gained slightly with the driver but not as much as I was expecting, at least not yet. But I had very few poor shots, less than a dozen with 160 balls, on only my 2nd day of trying this. This approach makes golf too easy. Modern swing instructors may band together to have it banned.

    Shawn why is hitting a straight shot the worst thing you can do?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The vast majority of golfers try to STEER their way and manipulate their swings to try and guide to a straight shot and this prevents them from ever letting the swing go. when I get a student who has benn trying to do this their entire lives in golf, I usually get them an extra 30 yards with way less effort and that is what gets them more greens in reg and more fairways hit!
