    High Shawn , this is Dave from the UK , another brilliant video on using the fairway woods , been watching your videos and your technique for the last 3weeks and my game has improved dramatically, hopefully with a bit more practice will get down from my present 30 handicap .As I’m not using my driver yet only a hybrid , irons and 3wood what tees would you recommend,Pity you are not in the uk as having a one to one lesson would be brilliant.Thanks again after 5years of frustration 👍

      Right on David! It is very normal that you are not benefitting from your driver yet; tee the ball low with all the clubs you use as they are designed to peel the ball off the ground in the first place; the role of the tee is to get you a “perfect lie in the fairway” off the tee.

    I was on the driving range yesterday and when I got to the hybrids I started topping everything so I took a break. I remembered that you had a TH-cam video on this exact subject so I re-watch it on my phone...after that I didn't top another ball. Thanks!

    Great video Shawn C! I been following you the past three months and you really help me! I figure if I can hit driver off the deck the fairway woods will be easy! After I watched your throwing the club video I was hitting the ball much better and scored my best! Your client and daughter are amazing!

    Thank you, I haven’t had issues with fairway woods, but last week I kept hitting right on top...I knew what I was doing and why it was happening but couldn’t stop it.

    I just ordered one of those grass whip from your website. Been watching your videos for a while now. Love how u turn the swing into a task which is easy for me to understand. Now I just gotta figure out how to get as much carry as Sav, your daughter. I am also a a lefty and same height as her.

    Fantastic video! Put the ball one spot ahead of the center and have the club head at center of stance correct? Have the notch and chin behind the ball correct?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost! don’t worry about the sternal notch; just FEEL that when you whip the club along the ground in the direction you want to start the ball that you will hit ball then ground on the way down and through.

    Would love to see you re-record your older “Shawn-o-vision” slow motion video you did back in 2013 now that camera tech has improved! You’ve got a great swing, would be awesome to see it in good slo mo.

      Just got a nice slow motion cam! Coming!!!

      Or just change the speed on youtube to 0.25 during the swing - works great!

    Didn't see the ball at all once it was airborne...am I defective?!? Also, I missed the DJ inset of him chipping. I have avoided fairway woods (favoring a hybrid instead) as couldn't seem to get them airborne. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to deflecting the sole of my club next time.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn! I knew I missed something!! So sorry; I do have it in another pretty recent video though; just trying to think of which one!

  • @orkayen
    @orkayen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Damn, Shawn. If I just do 80% of what you do (deflect the club) very efficiently then I would shave-off at least 10 strokes of my handicap. Though, you explained it very nicely, something is not working for me. I am missing the rhythm and the skip. I hit the ground towards my right toe. Not sure what it is. It is a simple set-up but not getting the consistency.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep your strain level down to 2/10 and keep the velocity up at 7/10; gather enough backswing to whip the club with some heft easily-like it was your full time job!

    Great lesson and consistent reinforcement Shawn. However, on your fairway woods and driver off the deck instruction(s), you never discuss (or show) the grip to club face relationship with those clubs. I.e., weak grip / strong grip? Open, closed, or square club face? If there's something we've missed, could you direct us to one of your past video's that demonstrates the aforementioned please?
    Respectfully,
    Joe

    • @Kidbucked
      @Kidbucked 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your grip depends on your swing. Whatever it takes for you deliver a square club face at impact....that is if you want the ball to fly straight.

      See “predict solid contact and direction shawn clement” and on the premium channel, see “fine tuning the fade” and “fine tuning the draw” for even more “fine tuning” 😀👍

      @josephwalker138 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming the answer to my question is, regardless the club, the setup and execution is the same...? I was hoping for a demonstration similar to your "weak grip or strong grip", but executing with a hybrid or fairway wood.
      Still feels very uncomfortable going for a shot with a statically closed fairway wood, and expecting a dynamically square result at impact. Nevertheless, the visual means a lot.
      Cheers...!

    Would be interesting if you went over the fact that you shoulders turn flatter with the woods and driver off the deck as opposed to the irons which have your shoulders at a steeper angel of attack

    How can the sole be round and flat?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flat and rounded off at the edges; you have seen them and know what I am talking about? 😝

  • @macleryy
    @macleryy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not clear. Should i brush after impact or before impact?

    • @xxthadeucexx
      @xxthadeucexx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before. If you did it after, how will the ground deflect the club into the ball?
      Edit: After watching again, I can see how he is unclear. He actually says both but logic would dictate that if the ground is to influence the club into the ball, it has to happen beforehand.

    • @Kidbucked
      @Kidbucked 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's very clear. Ball impact is first, then he brushes the ground after.

      after impact

    • @golflessons

      After impact always! That is the goal and the visual; see “ball position bible shawn clement” video to help!

      @@golflessons thanks a lot Shawn I've seen this concept before long time ago and I had it as skipping before, but now is clear. Thanks a lot. The minute 2,16 made me confuse. Keep mornig. Thanks again.
