When was the last time you were angry? How did you handle it?

I was angry today about my long work day. My own inability to manage my time was the real culprit. Not my colleagues who asked so many questions or all the emails I received.

I never would have thought that anyone would be able to fit into this Minimalist Universe that Ryan and Josh have created, but T.K. is a perfect addition. He brings so much to the podcast with his insights and shares his ideas in such an eloquent way. Great episode!

The gentleman who spoke about selling and "leasing items for life" was brilliant. Loved it and all of you.

Hi Ryan, glad to see you back. I'm 73. I can generally avoid people who annoy me. TK is right. My answer to annoying people is "maybe so". Or, We'll talk later, Been
married 50 years. Re: furniture, set a limit- you can have x, y, or z. Which would you like? Tina, Al's wife

Years ago I read ALL anger is based on a sense of "what about me!" Since, I have never seen true anger occur where that wasn't the catalyst.

  • @veganne6909

Anger happens when you feel someone has shown disrespect. It can be a positive emotion when it channels you into constructive action, or a negative one if you allow it to flare up and consume you.

A few comments regarding "our future self".
I am 64 years old and I am a genuinely happy woman. Who I am today is because of all the experiences, decisions, and feelings I have lived, whether they were good, bad or somewhere in between.
Another thing is that no matter what we think right here and right now, until we go through an experience, we truly don't know what it will be like or how we will react. Example... Early in my marriage to my first husband, I was 100% sure that if I EVER found out he was cheating on me, the marriage would be over and I'd tell him not to let the door hit him in the *ss on the way out. But when that became my reality 24 years later (me finding out he was cheating), my reaction was "I have 27 years of my life invested in this relationship. I'm not going to roll over, play dead, and let that other woman win." We did divorce a year and a half later, but he had lost both of us by then.

As always, so many gems in this episode! Will be re-watching! The idea of relinquishing control in order to get control reminds me of quotes from Alan Watts!

I struggle mostly with anger towards what I perceive as wrong doing or injustice. Any ideas on how to deal with this?...

I would get angry at a situation because I don't like to be told "no." Any road block I come against, I want to find a way around it.

Anger, resentment, stuffed down will come up at some point. Better to deal w emotions as they come up, not judging / beating our self-up w thoughts like "you shouldn't feel that way" "you should be over that by now as it happened years or decades ago." My older sister is 59, she is seeking connection but really bad at it. I do not call her anymore, but every so often she calls me, and do you think she asks many MEANINGFUL questions to find out about my life? No. She went on about a Walgreens commercial that briefly showed a pregnant woman getting vaccinated. She said she is going to the store to complain and tell them she is not shopping there anymore. Manic!

Masha, ain't there a way to help her with getting your communication straight? By telling her shg about yourself and telling her that it gives you joy to share with her. Or any other way. As you're more of an expert, try to get her back into friendly communication.

    • @RevelwithaCause

@B E Thank you for your response of how to handle my sister. I think there is an odd dynamic where we aren't happy w the relationship but keep doing the same thing expecting a different result. The only place I feel a true connection is at the Monastery where I go to church. Even talking w my husband too much doesn't make me feel more understood. If Jesus wants to send me BETTER connection in my life, He will!

I’m trying to deal with anger outbursts from my (woman) boss over really silly things or misinterpreted issues. It’s impossible to communicate with this person, should I just walk out, respond or what?

    • @dawnmireles2912

Get away from it. Not worth your energy to respond to it. Imagine a shield around you and their words and energy bouncing off of you!
