Very cool, thank you for hosting me! ***spoliers*** I think if your sorcerer hadn't gone down the plug hole, it would have been a very different outcome - my whole strategy was 'get the sorcerer', but your dice got him for me turn one 🎉 If anyone wants some winners dice 😅 the blue ones are meant to glow in the dark and are from Hex and Co in NYC (thank you to my wife) and the purple, who are typically treacherous, are from HammerHouse in Singapore 🎲

Sheeeet.. I used to have the Man O' War main box and a fleet of Sea/High elves. My mate was squats. I think he had paddlers and subs that I would slice through with my big ship... good times
Was just thinking last week it's been a long time since we've had any MoW content and speak into existence lol. We always had a house rule no more than one sea monster per side max.
@@Anonymoose-2750 yeah I think the 1 monster per side is a great idea and I think it will be enforced. I also like the house rule of making that 1 monster free and then randomly selecting that monster to the player. That would make it cool to not know what monster you will summon in the game. When I was younger, my shop had a guy that sold Warhammer stuff, mostly 40K and Epic, but behind the counter, he had bits and pieces of Man O War. I was very intrigued by it, but this was before the internet, so finding info was basically impossible. We never played it at the shop, and so I always had the bug to play it. I did finally buy a copy of the game, and I found a dude on ebay that sold entire armies. Anyway just wanted to ramble about my experience with this game. Id love to see a true reboot for it.
Looks such a great game when all laid out and set up like this. Fantastic to see this presented so well, and nice close shots of the fleets. Very appealing to play!

Awesome! Remebering my visit in Nottingham in 1997 at GWs Headquarters. There were vitrines full of minis. And the Man O War models were also there. But you can’t buy them anymore but I loved them. Maybe 3D printing helps?

Unless I'm mistaken with the live comments but a few rules mistakes were made: _ plaguecrushers have 2 dice attack hence their catapult template with 2 possible dmg but cant shoot over ships Iron Fists or Great Leveller _ flyers arent ships so you cant target them with spells if its stated that way on the card. Missing others but you get the idea. Everything can be houseruled of course and that may be what happened. ;) Great video; fleets are great looking. Need more. 😎
I think we agreed the plague crushers couod fire over the abandoned ships, flyers however can be targeted with magic: MAGIC AND FLYERS Spells may be cast against Flyers just as if they were ships. Any spells that cause damage, set locations ablaze, or kill crew will cause one wound against the Flyer for each point of damage done.
Alright ! My bad then; they are treated unlike ships so many times that I always played them that way. Monsters are definately in the same category as ships. 👍🏼 Great victory to you. 💪🏼
@turret75 to be fair, there are unique rules for sea monsters not being affected by certain spells, such as set ablaze and killing crew, so it is confusing and inconsistent. I think to Josh's point the dice were definitely in my favour throughout - his 1's and my 6's were the MVP 😅
@@turret75 thank you Turret and yes you are right mate. I myself did a lot wrong in terms of rules that day and that was my fault for not studying my fleet before playing. I will have to check the spell targeting flyers as the spell cards were written and developed way before flyers were created for the game. I will be way better prepared for my next game next month with my friend Nick. Be assured of that. Cheers mate
Plaguecrushers are a great asset; protect them to your best. 2 attacks with potential rot is huge. And personally, I've stopped using Chaos sorcerer. ;) Your use of the LoC was nice. There is also an alternative use as sea monster hunter. There is a rule saying monster being wounded even once by a flyer immediately submerge. Extremely useful against player using them a lot. ;)
@@Mrkabrat yeah the rules are a little vague concerning how these two types of models interact as Sea of Blood expansion was released last. So the Plague Fleet expansion had no mention of sea monsters and how they could board and attack an airborne ship. So gentlemen’s agreement in the end :) Thanks for watching and commenting

Is there a rule that says that Death Galleys must have a different chaos card? It would make more sense for all three Galleys in the squadron to have the same card. That makes it easier to remember their ability and strategize accordingly.

@@Cam_of_Warwick OK, when I seen it in the old WDs I always was thinking it was like a flyer going 50-200m above the water shooting down on other ships and you needed ranged weapons to hit it or other flyers.
The tower and the flying horror can be attacked and aren't flyers as such, but they can't be harmed below the waterline - so rams and behemoth attacks plus the leviathans special ability aren't effective.
That was some major bad luck with all of the ones rolled in the game, I can relate with a game of Bolt Action and trying to have my Soviets come on the board needing to roll 4+ and having the number get progressively go down each turn. I was turn four and five before I could get my armor assets on the tabletop! But the big thing was having fun playing the game right! Have a great day Josh

Yep. Too many sea monsters... you completely outshined all the beautifully painted ships for 90% of the game to be decided by sea monsters. Bleh. 13:00 in before a ship even fires a weapon. Just.. meh.
That's actually a flyer the lord of change not a sea monster and he took a beating from the ships (who are a cheap chaff unit). It's rare to see the sea monsters used, plus also they add some randomness, the Leviathan killed a friendly ship and took wounds in return. I agree in general though, a couple less monsters could have improved it, but part of that choice was down to what had been painted 😅

Yeah although it's on a flight stand it just skims over the surface of the waves and can be attacked and boarded like other ships

looking at the Nurgle rules, their ships seem pretty pants, no?

Yep. Too many sea monsters... you completely outshined all the beautifully painted ships for 90% of the game to be decided by sea monsters. Bleh. 13:00 in before a ship even fires a weapon. Just.. meh.
That's actually a flyer the lord of change not a sea monster and he took a beating from the ships (who are a cheap chaff unit). It's rare to see the sea monsters used, plus also they add some randomness, the Leviathan killed a friendly ship and took wounds in return. I agree in general though, a couple less monsters could have improved it, but part of that choice was down to what had been painted 😅

Love to see a Man O War batrep! I used to play this game alot back when it was new. Actually have the Norse fleet on my paint desk right now - about half done. So glad I never got rid of this game. Your video inspires me to get this back on my game table.
