We are leaving for Paris tomorrow!! My wife spent last year celebrating her bday in a hospital bed! She was recovering from cancer surgery. This year we're going to Paris to celebrate her beautiful birthday!! We've been watching all your videos!! You guys are great thank you!
Aaahhh…The memories…I went there in 1988 and again on a tour with my Mother in 1994 when she was 70…her first trip to France…she was such a trooper…we took a tour through the Loire Valley, surprisingly in a 6 to 8 seated Mercedes…then for a week in Paris!!! Thank you again the wonderful memories!!!

My wife and I with our ~4 yr old daughter and 14 month old son, took our two week trip of a lifetime in mid-May 1999. We spent 10 days in Paris and the rest in the Loire River Valley. We toured all the Chateau in this video except Cheverny. We also stayed in private Chateau's and castles (one with a real water filled and live ducks floating moat).
I don't know how my wife managed it, but we stayed in several "royal" sized furnished bedrooms. In the morning we were having fine regional breakfasts over looking the river.
We patronized several of the local winerys located in cool caves dug into the banks along the river. We were treated with an abundance of samples.
Glorious weather the entire time.
Rick Steves brings back so many wonderful memories.
We researched our itinerary using Rick's travel videos and guides.
So glad now that we went then rather than waited until the children were older!!!

🇫🇷Merci Lidiia for you Loire Chateaux video. There is an amazingly inexpensive but first class option to visit all these chateaux. I took 5 Loire tours including wineries arranged through the French tourism bureau in Tours. We traveled in luxury via small Mercedes vans and had full days of Chateaux or winery visits. The average price was between $100 to $150. And there is always an English speaker at the bureau. Reservations can be made online. Also vieux Tours is a gorgeous city with reasonable hotels and great restaurants.
I visited Chateau Chambord with my family when I was a kid. It was insanely beautiful, like something from a Disney movie. We camped in the Loire Valley. Absolutely beautiful part of the world. I'll never forget the seemingly endless fields of sunflowers. I'd love to go back one day.
This reminds me of when I went to France a few years before this episode was on TH-cam. I went with about 15-20 students in my school's travel club, and was lucky to go to Paris, the Palace of Versailles, and the Loire Valley. The Loire was my favorite part, as we were surrounded by the beauty the earth that France provided. Enjoyed the history and beauty of the Chateaus of Amboise, Chenonceau, and Leonardo DiVinci's home as I hope I can someday return to a place of such beauty. From the US

I kinda wish that you visited more castles there like Azay-le-Rideau and Ussé, but I can’t complain. Love both of your clear and giddy excitement to visit the often overlooked beauty of France!

Great! I just cancelled our previously booked two castle tour after watching this. My 12 year old daughter was just diagnosed with autism and when I asked her about doing this private tour versus one in a coach with other people she got really excited. We are booked.

Amazing place
The main staircase in Chateau de Chambord is really cool. It's a double helix. So it's actually 2 staircases wound around each other. It's therefore possible for one person going up and another going down not to meet each other.
