This is a common story. It depends on how much he's offering, but if it's a lot, you may want to consider hiring a landman to see what you own and advise you. Otherwise, you can request offers from other companies. Your current offer may be low and you may have money in suspense that you aren't aware of.

I have inherited mineral rights in 6 counties. Is there a way to get "an idea of their value" ?

It depends on the location. Generally, the value is 3-5 years of royalty revenue, but that depends on the location, production, lifecycle of the wells, operator, lease terms, etc.

@@BlueMesaMinerals Thanks I meant I am in VA and the rights are in TX. Is there anyone who can look at the documents and give me an idea of their value ? I have no idea about mineral rights

@@russcali4138The value can vary wildly. If you are interested in selling, I can evaluate your mineral rights (at no charge) and give you an offer. If you are looking for a valuation for tax or estate purposes, you can get multiple offers or reach out to a company that specializes in this type of evaluation. If you're interested in an offer, my email is danna@bluemesaminerals.com.

Aren't these drilled locations already owned so we can't buy them, isn't that right.

Mineral rights are real property, and they can be bought and sold if you have a willing buyer and seller who agree on a price.

Thanks. Sure, you can email me at danna@bluemesaminerals.com. I'm not sure how much advice I can give other than to stay, "Start small so your mistakes are inexpensive." You'll learn the most from experience and one of the best things you can do is hire a landman to help you make good choices.

That's a common story. A lot of people don't know they own mineral rights until a landman approaches them for a lease.
