Alan Menken sings "If I Can't Love Her" during the press showcase for "Beauty and the Beast, the musical", in Paris July 2th...
Dang, this is incredible
Not bad singing Mr Menken - that's not an easy F !
And thank you for writing such a great musical - I'm astonished that this song was left out of the movie !
Song wasn't written for the film, the script never allowed for Beast to have his own song till the Broadway version.
Love the song. It's just that Alan Menken is a tenor, and he definitely wrote this song for a baritone.
A baratone is a tiny tuba…
And it’s also the male vocal range between bass and tenor. The instrument you’re talking about is really called a euphonium, and it’s often called a “baritone” because that’s the range it usually plays. Characters like Javert and Gaston are baritones, like Quasimodo is a tenor.
OMGeee the build from 2:53 I can't. This conductor and orchestra...Bravo! Alan and Howard...Geniuses!
0:20 *I HOPE I DON'T SCREW IT UP* He didn't! He nailed it!
Alan Menken's music has saved my life! His work is the quintessence of Musical Theatre. Love it! :')
i don't think it ever occurred to me stupidly till now that Alan Menken is more than a Disney lyricist but like also an amazing singer!
* composer not lyricist.
And songwriter
Alan menken doing an awesome job
Alan Menken singing it was so epic, this song is so absolutely beautifully!!
This is truly amazing. Thanks for uploading it!
Love it
The song was never written for the movie, wasn't it only for the Broadway musical it was specifically written for?
+organicskating yeah its an act closer it does not really have a place in a movie because its a show stopper
He's said in interviews he wrote it as a way to end act 1 for the stage version.
I am hearing Galavant in the first 30 seconds....
That's right!
I feel really bad for saying this, but does anyone else think that he pronounces er’s and ar’s a bit to hard?
