    Today’s breakers are good but what’s missing is the chosen uniform of each crew, back in the day you could stand in a club and literally identify each crew from the tracksuit they wore and when a group routine was busted it made it look even better by the unified look but nowadays that’s totally lost...each crew member where what the want and even they’re absolutely fantastic the look and vibe isn’t there at all

    • @negroantonio28
      @negroantonio28 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's all mainstream gentrified, full of gymnastic tricks for the rich middle class suburban kids, its lost its raw gritty ghetto thing. Too clean too polished. Another thing they took from the poor and made it their own.

    • @gaffle-411
      @gaffle-411 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I always think the same thing. A crew should wear a “uniform”. Some of these dudes these days dress like dorks and wear non-complimentary stuff to what they’re doing. Don’t get it twisted though… today’s moves totally eclipse the moves of yesteryear but that’s not a diss, it’s evolution of the dance.

    • @negroantonio28
      @negroantonio28 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gaffle-411 yeah because back then it was inner ciry street kids, doing it for reputation and getting girls the competition was on a street level, now it's all middle class, uni graduates nerds and geeks that do it,

    • @romengoneg238
      @romengoneg238 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone wants their own identity. To much personality to look the same. The dance has evolved.
      To much style and character.

    • @gaffle-411
      @gaffle-411 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@romengoneg238 I disagree. These dudes these days have no dressing “flair” about them. They wear regular ass clothing that adds NOTHING to their performance or what they’re doing. These Puma sweatsuits and uniform hoodies in blue gave distinction to go along with the dance.
      I don’t recall a single modern-day b-boy competition where the clothing was at all noticeable and distinctive. The dancing is great but their look is blah…

      @@negroantonio28 That’s suspect… Icey Ice was in Beat Street but I believe he was in that last Roxy Choir scene doing his windmill flare halo thing. I don’t buy that about Frosty Freeze. What “different projects” was he doing whilst the biggest move of Rock Steady’s career was taking place with the movie Beat Street???
      I think even though he was a very popular early member of the crew, his break dance prowess was lacking in this era and they felt he didn’t make the cut. Either that or he just left b-boying alone and moved on. I’ve never seen him rolling with the crew after this movie. I only saw him in a few park events in the 90’s with RCS and it was on some old recollection/memory sh-t.

    Several people were influential in creating hip hop. However, the most notable pioneers are DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, and Grandmaster Flash. These three innovators are known as the “Holy Trinity” of hip hop.

      Too many variables! Remember, hip-hop didn't create anything of its own, instead it took from everything and made it its own. Every element of hip-hop exist outside of hip-hop. But the baby spades in the south bronx probably packaged it all together first.

    Pretty crazy that if t wasn't for these bboys and the moves they created, hiphop culture probably would have faded and may not even be a thing right now. Definitely don't get the credit they deserve.

      LIES. Kuriaki Legs and Swift dam near bodied them! People forget Legs went THREE times. Because NYC Breakers had 2 extra members. And if you count Lee corny azz - 3 extra members. So in essence it was like 8 on 5. Doze was useless in the battle. Furthermore, Frosty and Mr. Wiggles weren't present.😎
