    I was 14 when this album came out and going through some very dark times, this song saved me. Every word in the lyrics was what I was feeling but the final solo was so inspiring, so uplifting so impactful that it showed me that there was a little light within the darkness and there was hope... I'm 51 now and have had battled depression all my life yet this song is my life line...

      @@justintime41776 I have to respectfully disagree with with your comment dude. Now I obviously don't know you, and therefore DON'T know what you might have been through, but based SOLELY upon your comment it seems like you just don't have the real-world experience to understand what someone in a 'dark time' might be personally going through.
      Like MANY people, I've been there myself in the past. By that I mean that I mean when you've lost the MOST important person in your life (in my case my girlfriend who was pregnant with our kid), you simply don't see any reason to continue on.
      But many of us actually have the strength to continue on, and in many cases it's because others have helped.
      Now as I said I DON'T know you OR what you've been through in your life (and it's possible that you're experienced with a similar dark time, meaning losing someone close to you, and are simply TRYING to sound 'tough/unfeeling' to cover up your own real feelings), but to me it sounds like your comment is made SOLELY out of the IGNORANCE of someone who has NEVER experienced such a feeling of loss/hopelessness.
      Now if I'm wrong about my interpretation of your comment, then I apologize, and please correct me.
      Just my own personal opinion anyway.

    The lead guitarist, Kirk, may not be the most technically gifted guitarist of all time but he sure knows how to write a great melodic guitar solo. Since you enjoyed this song, I'd recommend some of Metallica's other tracks that mix up soft and heavy parts such as (Welcome Home) Sanitarium, One, The Unforgiven, and Nothing Else Matters, and the instrumental tracks Call Of Ktulu, Orion, and To Live Is To Die

    • @AhmedRasool91
      @AhmedRasool91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well fuck technically gifted sweep picking monkeys lol, the feeling that I get at the second fade to back solo, is unmatched this solo is a life changer for me atleast. Kirk rules

    • @mr.smithgnrsmith7808
      @mr.smithgnrsmith7808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Technically he’s quite gifted…don’t know why you all say that shit constantly…Satriani taught him, and he’s an absolute technician

    • @carlgibson285
      @carlgibson285 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 he's my favourite guitarist of all time so I wasn't trying to disrespect him, but even Kirk himself would admit there are plenty of more technically gifted guitarists out there than him. However, Kirk has one thing that a lot of the others don't have - he has the ability to write melodic, memorable solos that are packed full of emotion and tell a story rather than just playing a hundred notes per second for the sake of it. I was actually paying him a compliment with my initial comment, but maybe I worded it poorly

    • @gabago0l
      @gabago0l 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always hate hearing that. It's like if an artist isnt "gifted" they aren't worth listening to or they're art is somehow less. Also who says what gifted means? I don't think you're the problem it's just so many people like to critique musicians when I dont see them producing any music.

    Have you done Metallica's "One"? True emotion in a song, if there ever is. It talks about a soldier who lost his limbs and face from a landmine and asks to be put out of his misery. Really powerful song, I think you'll like it.

    You should try Master of Puppets it’s got both the heavy feel as well as a melodic interlude. It’s a rollercoaster of a song in both the lyrics and instrumentals. Pay special attention to the lyrics and how the instrumentals are thematically in line with the lyrics.

    Thanks for good reaction! Nice to watch your opinions. What comes to diversity, Metallica really gives very broad set of songs. Very versatile band, ranging from fast heavy trash to slow beautiful ballads. It's good to mix a bit with studio and live versions, to get good understanding of their music.
    Here are some recommendations to listen. Trying to pick some you might like, and on different spectrums of their styles.
    - One. Classic reaction song in youtube. Also has good changes and transitions of different types of feelings, and tells very tragic story. Here's option for some live performance, or to watch the official music video, which has movie clips telling story in the background. Both are good.
    - The Day that Never Comes, live for example from Quebec Magnetic show. Some of their more recent stuff from 2nd latest album.
    - Unforgiven. Actually it's a trilogy, you can find parts I, II and III. They share some similarities, but have bit different perspectvie on lyrics. Beautiful emotional songs. Studio versions for these.
    - Orion. Pure instrumental, masterwork of their ex-basist Cliff Burton, who died in bus accident during their tour. Studio version.
    - Nothing Else Matters. Their most famous love ballad form the album which made them really famous. Official music video is good pick.
    - Battery, live from Seattle 1989. One of their fastest songs, example of their trash style when they were still young.
    - Fight Fire with Fire. Live from Brazil 2022, their very recent show. Example of their current performance, example of how they still rock even being near 60 years old.
    - The Call of Ktulu, Munich, Germany August 23, 2019 live version. Another pure instrumental piece, if you Orion before. It's worth to focus on bass doing some interesting stuff, kinda representing the beast in the background.
    Enjoy the music!
