Tips on installing Ultimarc Ipac Console Adapters (Arcade Cabinet Control Panel Gamepad Support)

If you, like me, want to change your arcade cabinet panel to allow you to play games which insist upon gamepad input you need to choose between xinput or directinput. I chose the xinput route (so windows and Steam friendly) and to use Ultimarc ipac 2's and their Paclink Console adapters. Unfortunately, Ultimarc's instructions are not particularly clear on many aspects and it took a lot of hours digging around on my part, both on their site and on multiple forums to get the information needed. I hope this video will save some people a little bit of that time in getting these otherwise excellent products up and running.

So you’re the only one I’ve come across that has the same interest as me to play old and new games with the joystick. I’m making a pedestal and will most definitely be revisiting this video to hook up my panel. Great work!
Thanks for the tips mate. I had a problem with the SW keys layout - 1,3,8 and so on. This was driving me nuts. You've done well to get that awesum machine purring. Cheers

Hey noel awesome video quick question. Im a noob but what screws do u use to mount the ipac board to the wood or do i do something else?
@Noel Hand Grenade Can you confirm if i use 2 players on the one ipac2 i only need the 2 xbox adaptor usbs plugged in, and not a 3rd usb for the board usb. (so basically 2 usbs not all 3?)

So, using the same setup you have (pc based, i-pac 2 + 2x Paclinks) and hoping to achieve the same results you have.
The chart says Button "A" needs "L-Ctrl" input sent to P1 SW 1.
So am I correct in saying, I just make sure P1 SW 1 is receiving "L-Ctrl" input and wire P1 SW 1 to Button "A" on control panel?
Then in game, pressing Button "A" will respond as Button "A" on xbox 360 controller?
Question will the adapters help support if I have an ipac4 and want to light up led buttons 🤔.
did you make this cab yourself?! i really want one but im too dumb i was looking at the bitcade 4player ones asked them if i could just unplug the pc they provide and shove mine in told me it wouldnt be possible
Does the iPac work with an Xbox Series X Console? Im trying to build a Xbox Series X Arcade.

I need this, but it is too complicated for me. I have an older arcade cabinet I upgraded with newer games. Mame works, but with Xbox, PS3, etc, you can not use the old Ipac. I have to use 360 controllers.
Mate can u direct me any of the forums u saw this on mines all connected pc sees as xbox 360 but no buttons or sticks working
Your best bet is probably to contact Andy who runs Ultimarc tbh.
Cool but don`t the extension gamepad dongles mean that u are generating a key press and a joystick command at the same time thus confusing the game being played ? btw u can set up Xpadder as a blank templated that can shift with chosen button combos to alternate maps within the same trmplate where u would assign keyboard functions to it and then make another shift combo to get back to the blank template, I do it all the time on small custom self built gaming PC`s where I`m usually just using an Xbox gamepad and nothing else by switching through mouse emulation with keys mode, blank mode and another variation
No, when you enable the gamepad dongle it ceases generating keystrokes.
FYI Ultimarc have updated the firmware anyway now and the dongles are no longer necessary. I grabbed the latest firmware (hard to find, the guy who runs it sent me the file) and now i don't use the dongles anymore.
@@NoelHandGrenade I bought 2 dongles years ago but not used them yet .......so then your ipac2 is running with usb plugged in for power this time this time with buttons mapped to gamepad in the settings, as I don`t suppose that the PC will know what type of controller it`s seeing ( x360/PS3 etc ) is this being detected as direct input only ? .........
@@NoelHandGrenade I have new ipac 2 boards now, has this new firmware without the need for the dongles at all been standard in the supplied firmware for a while now ?
