I used to have a T-Maxx 3.3, I opted to go electric when I got back into the hobby a few months ago. Funny story I had my T-Maxx running all out in a park at top speed. A small Terrier Dog intercepted it and grabbed the tire somehow...... As you can Imagine a dog that weighs maybe 4lbs at most vs a 10lb truck travelling at full speed..... The dog was okay it was just rolled and tumbled around a little... Owner was mad but everyone agreed with me that it should have been on a leash. lol
Im super happy you finally got the proper 3.3 model. Now you see what I've been talking about for years, the 3.3 model is a completely different t-maxx, it's exactly the same size as the modern savage BTW (also just as fast). BTW the 3.3 model features what is called REVO-SPEC parts for the entire drivetrain, it's extremely beefy and mimics the REVO layout. Looking forward to the next video..
You convinced me! Next time I get into my LHS (about 110 miles one way) I'm going to pick up the 3.3. Looking forward to your break in & bash videos. Thanks Earl!
The tmaxx is where it all started for me. Still have all three originals (.15, 2.5, & 3.3). Also went out a few months ago and picked up a new 3.3 to see the new version. Loved breaking it in with my son and taking it out with him. Loved the smell of nitro and the nitro cleaner afterwards.
The TMaxx 3.3 is a beast. It’s been my favorite traxxas for years. I had 2 of them with the blue/white body. You will definitely enjoy it. Once you get the 3.3 broken in and tuned it will be a powerful little screamer. Especially if you stick to the same fuel % as break in.🤙🏽
3.3 more powwwwaaaaaa👍👍👍hats off Earl … to sharing the knowledge and putting that 💰💰💰towards a great cause helping the RC community… honestly it’s why I keep coming back ✌️✌️✌️
Im trying to get you over the 15k mark. Made a requests that some of my crawler friends mention your giveaway on their TH-cam channels. we can get there tomorrow I hit up all the fb pages.
Nice to see the 2.5 vs 3.3 right out of the box with all the differences. The 3.3 seems to come more RTR than the 2.5, just a shame they didn't give it the reverse gear. That's a killer feature that makes it an attractive buy!
I like both trucks I actually like the whole tmax lineup the easy start is a winner in my humble and feeble minded opinion, it just make starting so amazingly easy, anyone that’s seen me start a nitro with it that’s never seen one are pretty amazed by how simple it makes it to start, like i did some kind of magic trick or something, as far as break in let’s say it’s like a box of chocolates ya just don’t know till you bite into it, I can’t wait till the next video to hear the 3.3 rumble to life for the first time and see if you have similar issue, I had pretty much the same issue with my revo 3.3 as you had in the 2.5 so I don’t think it’s just a 2.5 thingy just a little turning on a couple thingy’s that turn “don’t twist only turn twist bad turn good” and it’ll smooth right on out, and purr like a kitty waiting to roar. Looking forward to seeing more videos on these two really neat nitro tmaxx’s
both trucks look super cool, but have to say the bigger 3.3 looks better for me. and that extra engine clearance sticking out the top should aid cooling slightly too. thicker steering linkages should also be handy when bashing especially with the extra weight.
Great video Earl I think the 3.3 will be easier because when Traxxas revise something they always make it better and easier for people just getting into the RC hobby
Nitrogang! A little thing I like to do is put a piece of fuel line on the zip tie to the gas cap and put the end of another zip tie on top as a nice handle 😎
I don't get people, ez start is awesome!!! Agreed Traxxas manual is best way to learn tuning for beginner. Traxxas support TH-cam also has old school video that use to come in box of how to tune! The resources are there it's just whether you want to learn it or not.
Nice truck, those wheels really work well ,your going to be glad you have a wheelie bar. It'll be way easier to break in the 3.3. Awesome motor/ Truck 🚚 💯
If you use the same air filter and cold air intake on the 2.5 plus maybe add a tuned exhaust pipe you can get very similar performance, I know from experience, I also added a larger cooling fin head to mine, although I love the fact that you’re showing the true “ out of the Box experience “ awesome review, I subscribed and hope to see what you think 😀
I haven't messed with mine in a long time. I found for me the combo that worked best was the new longer version TMaxx with the 2.5R engine. Less finicky and more reliable. My opinion
Im just getting started waiting on mine to get here.Earl i have to say i just love your videos.Im sure the 3.3 is deffently lar.ger im getting the 2.5 so im not sure but i will let you know. Thanks again Earl for doing these videos.Stay Safe Stay Healthy ✌
I have an all original first gen 2.5 and 3.3. Bought them both brand new way back when they were released by Traxxas. I want to or better need to finally upgrade the steering servos. I mean they are complete dog blank…lol Any recommendations? I did also bought a new 3.3 Tmaxx last year. It is awesome, but I’ll probably upgrade that servo down the line. Wish Traxxas would throw us Tmaxx guys a bone by giving us a wide maxx kit for them.
saving up for a 3.3 now i was never interested in nitro but seeing how reliable and lively the tmaxx is and how much comes in the box i want to try one now. gonna get a red one since red is faster 😂

Yeah I think the 3.3 is worth the extra 100 bucks if you can afford it. The engine swap alone would cost you over $100 so the 3.3 is great value with that nice aluminum pipe, high intake filter, beefier parts, the longer chassis, etc etc
Sweet! The 3.3 is a whole lotta fun! If i was to estimate id say about 16 to 17% more fun! And the 3.3 is way easier and way more reliable and easier to break in. And in my opinion about 16 to 17% easier and better! And i reckon Rc Garage will be 16 to 17% more jealous!

The 3.3 is going to be easier to tune than the 2.5 for sure. Much tighter tolerances and better materials than the original 2.5. I would stick with 20% on both models; the T-Maxx Classic and 3.3 are rather heavy for such little engines so your going to want as much lubrication as possible to get any sort of life out of them. The Jato is a completely different animal - much lighter so 33% is a good option for max speed. I'm sure you'll be okay though. The Classic's reverse function with Optidrive was revolutionary for it's time but not without it's problems; deleting it was one of the most common mods back in the day. The Classic and 3.3 are basically completely different trucks with very little parts compatibility. This caused huge consumer confusion when it came to selecting aftermarket parts for these trucks.

Lose the traxxas top fuel. There is way too much oil content in traxxas fuels and is almost impossible to tune your engine right while running with traxxas fuel. Byrons is great fuel. So is bones brew or sidewinder.

Hey the Tmaxx 3.3 tsm has a built in gyro on the receiver just a heads up it helps to keep the truck straight and level
Nitrogang is here bro!!! T maxx for life!
Robinson racing makes a forward only conversion for the 3.3 all metal gears for the transmission
The forward only kit does not give you all metal gears in the transmission, you have to order seperate gears along with forward only kit
Lunsford also makes titanium suspension pins
