Genesis had the “Phantasy Star” series and “Shining Force” series, two of the best turn-based JRPG series. And the Sega CD had “Lunar: The Silver Star”, a game that is usually included in top JRPG lists.
This game is so damn cool as an adaptation of the anime storyline. It feels kind of like an alternate version of the same basic events, like how the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga adapted the anime series. But FUCK is it tedious. The only thing that kept me playing was my love for the characters and story, it was super rad to see this grand story play out like a retro RPG/adventure game.
I didn't expect to experience such a gem, brilliant after so much time and after masterpieces like "Shining Force", "Shadow Run"... This one among top games. P.S. Sorry for not perfect english lang.
What a wonderful game. Just finished it. Really there are important differences from the original anime series. Paradox, but truly game have even better plot. It has more logic, more rough reality. And it is very original. I don't know something other games that looks like it. It even has no battles in the usual way. Wonderful story. Great game. ...
You never saw it because it was only released in japan. Anyways, emulators/roms aren't too hard to find, i recommend fusion or GENS (search on google or bing for it).
Woa! I didn't know that there existed game "Nadia: The secret of blue water" for SEGA genesis till this day. Looks awesome! Like very good RPG. I would be very happy to play it 10-20 years ago :) P.S. Didn't saw ever cartridge or rom for emulator of this one. Where I could find it? Well, maybe when I will have time I will play some and remember old days ha-ha. Yea.. youth...
I see now why I haven't saw it. Well, I tried to find roms, but unsuccesful. I found in .7z expansion and .gen inside. But emulator "Gens" (one of the best I think) emulator can't read this files. Can you tell me on which emulator you played? What expension of room? Maybe you just can sent me emulator in .zip and rom? Will be very thankful to you. And thank you very much for so operational answer.

Love the music brings back so many memories.
I finally found it. What a great game! Quite close to the anime series. I just don't like "move-take-bring tasks". But this is really great RPG game.

Try Mario Golf games. Those ones are unique JRPGs.
this reminds me of the SNES adaptation of Magic Knight Rayearth.
Looks surprisingly good.
@FunkyChimichanga romhackingDOTnet/translations/1630/ is the patch
You'll have to find the rom yourself.

There was Phantasy Star no?
was this ever released in north America in English?
Sadly no,only released in Japan. A lot of great, and a lot of bad games stayed in Japan.
Sega 👍👍👍👍👍

Nope.
It's 100% adventure. Go find a SNES game to grind in.
