    I have an airbnb and this is a great option to lock the door remotely! Thank you for the helpful walkthrough

    Jeff, I agree that for $100, it should have came with a new lock hardware too.

      I get that now you don't have to change your keys but in my opinion having a lock set with this smart lock would make this even better.

    Great review, Jeff! Items like this need to be revisited in a year to see if they still work.

    Thanks for posting - I've actually run into the same issue where my existing lock does not line up with the SimpliSafe toggle. How did you modify your existing lock to align with the SimpliSafe toggles?

    It looks like the pin pad uses batteries in addition to the lock itself. How do you replace those batteries? Seems like a lot of batteries to have to replace if you get this and the keypad batteries already need to be replaced pretty frequently, they last about 8 months.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right batteries are needed in all of the devices. I have been going strong with my original batteries. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    Having the original bolt on the outside is very convenient for people who rent. Most landlords and complexes won’t allow you to change the lock on the outside because they have to have access

    Can you screw in the keypad?

      Same question!

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine didn't have screw holes...so I used the 3M command strips. Having the screw down option would be a plus...or they should have their own hardware and attach it to the lock itself. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  • @singto24
    @singto24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do you have the option to screw in the keypad? Have you tried that, or do you find that the tape is pretty durable?

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My keypad has held up without issue. If I remember there were not any screw holes for mounting. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  • @juliemello505
    @juliemello505 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have to have the SimpiSafe system to use the door lock or can you purchase just the door lock and use the app? Also....and this may be a stupid question but since the hole to the dead bolt isn't just one sided, do I just stick the keypad over the hole on the outside of the door. My concerns is that is just sticks on with two-side tape essentially. Couldn't someone/thief just pull that off and then they would access to the locking mechanism?

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, not only do you need the system but I believe you also need the $25 monthly monitoring plan. Hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    Thanks for the video. Finally someone who showed the outside of the door too. But I have a couple of questions. Can you still use a key and what happens when key is used, am I notified the door is open? Can you lock your door using your phone from anywhere no matter how far away? Does this require Wifi? Thanks

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use your existing key and it turns the lock just like normal. I didn't have wifi hooked up when I first installed it and it worked (with service) I now have it hooked up to the Wi-Fi. Yes you can unlock it and lock it with the app and you can have system notify you when it's unlocked. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    Is it all plastic?

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The housing where the batteries go feels plastic, the locking mechanism feels like metal (that part is definitely more heavy-duty) thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    I have SimpliSafe security, but won’t go with the lock. The fact the keypad is just sticky taped to the outside of the door is a freaking joke. Someone can be a douche and just steal your keypad for the f of it. I don’t care if it ties into the rest of the system. They need to make a complete lock set. Again, this is a total joke lock.

    I've had simplisafe for over five years. I've had both the first gen and the second gen. Most of their stuff works ok. Their lock however is horrendous. Also their customer service is horrible. It will take you anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes to reach a person who will tell you to reinstall it basically. Then it will crap out again. The worse part is that the keypad on the outside won't activate the lock when this happens since they're both wireless and communicate through the main keypad inside. So you will get stuck outside unless you have the physical key. My house is all keypad access so I've had to enter from the back when this happens. In any case, save your money and buy a nicer non wireless keypad lock. They work a lot better.
