I'd suggest following the instruction provided with the bracket and insert the bracket so the holes align with the dimples in the grill. The plastic is thicker at the dimples and will give you a much stronger mount.
My corolla came with a black bracket pre install. with the longest screws drilled in as possible. I need to find a way to put the short anti theft screws on.
Plate or bracket? Plate should just be held on with 2 screws. The type of screw will vary, so you'll need to figure out which tool is needed, but the plate should come off after removing those 2 screws. If you have a plate bracket that you want removed also, it should be the same steps - just remove some screws, but there will be holes in the bumper.
That’s because they don’t want you to puncture anything, which is why I mentioned checking behind where you’re putting the screws first to make sure you don’t damage anything. These aren’t self tapping screws, so trying to Ram those in without drilling a hole first might not be very fun.

@@jridge16 Over 4 years still holding strong, don’t think the plastic thickness is an issue but it will all come down to preference.
Here's an idea, use industrial velcro as a buffer to keep that license plate mount from rubbing the bumper.
Thanks - my daughter just got a 2015 camry and I was a little curious what kind of plate to use on that grill or where to get one.
