I've done the same mod, for roughly the same reasons for my later ScotRail Saltire coaches which i got on ebay cheap that did not have the DCC lights fitted. The downpoint about the mod I did is that there is something missing that channels the lights down to the CDL lights beside the doors and they dont light up. Bachmann don't sell something that would cause them to light up, so I'll need to think of a way of channeling the light from the board down to the sides of the doors.
Yes, that's true. In the later ones with the central door locks there's an extra bit of clear plastic in the corners which runs down to the central locking lights. I haven't looked for those pieces as these coaches didn't need them.
It's getting increasingly difficult to find TSOs in the early liveries. BSOs and FOs are available still. This specific one was an eBay purchase. I do hope Bachmann re-run these coaches soon. I know the price would be significantly higher than last time (and I thought it was expensive then!) but I need do need another couple of TSOs.
I think that Bachmann have loads in their where-house and kept them back so it looked like their steep prices still made joe public purchase them and made it look like they sold our in record time when in fact only half if quarter have been released into the shops. I think they shall release more in the coming months.
@@rowdyperson6393 I think "Never attribute to malice that which can be put down to incompetence" is relevant here. It's a simpler solution that they just messed up. They didn't order anywhere near enough TSOs to satisfy the market demand. If they had some in reserve sitting in a warehouse somewhere, for sure they'd have sold them to retailers by now -- companies with stock of an in-demand item don't sit on it just to be mean -- income is a far bigger motivation to a company than anything else. Could we see more in the coming months, particularly of the early liveries? I do hope so. But it would be from a follow on production run, not from held-back stock. We will be able to tell it's a different run because the running numbers will be different.
@@DongitsModelRailway They are going to be staying something in February regards mk2fs so we shall see what they say. My guess is that the market shall be flooded again by March

Its great that Bachmann sell these parts as spares. Did you add some passengers at the same time?
I didn't add passengers, but it would indeed have been a great opportunity to do so.
