I use color street exclusively. I am not a stylist for them; I just like the product. After peeling the protective layer, you don't tear the top tab off, you peel the color off and then tear the tab off the polish side. The top tab is there for that reason. To all first timers, don't let this discourage you. Do your research on how to apply them correctly before you dismiss them based on this review. She should have researched it herself, or better yet, read & followed the instructions that are literally on EVERY PACKAGE before attempting application.

Hey Sandy!♥️ I did read instructions and followed a tutorial from TH-cam! ☺️ Even though I unintentionally did it wrong AFTER reading directions on the package and watching tutorials, I've heard many people that have tried Color Street correctly, and disliked them. My HONEST review allows everyone to choose for themselves. ☺️ Not everyone will like every product so it's best to not blame others and let them learn from good and bad experiences! ♥️ Have a great night!

I watched multiple tutorials AND read the directions, followed everything to the T, and still ended up not liking them lol. They chip easily and don't last nearly as long as claimed. I ended up taking mine off last night because I was tired of the chipped edges snagging on stuff. I also don't appreciate that you have to use a flat iron or a lighter to reseal the package if you want to save your leftovers. I feel like the company could totally find a way to make it so people can save their extra strips, but they choose not to because that's an easy way to push people into buying more from them. They are very cute (I got the buy 3 get 1 free in all patterns and glitters), but honestly, for the price I paid for them, coupled with the fact that they only lasted about 4-5 days before they were so sad looking I had to take them off, I'd rather spend that $10-15 for a great bottle of polish that I know will work well (Zoya is my brand of choice), and stick with that. Once I've used the ones I bought, I doubt I will buy them again, to me it's a waste of money. But hey, that's the beauty of this, not everyone is going to have the same experience as me, and that's ok. If they work for you, awesome! But don't be snarky with people being honest about it not working for them.

Just so you know for those who have not tried Color Street there are instructions on the inside of the package. It is super helpful to read those before application and always apply pinky first thumb last.

Agreed, Jennifer! I also read the directions, but learned the hard way about the thumbs needing to be last!!! ❤

I love Colorstreet. I follow the directions, buff a little, then apply TWO layers (there is plenty in each package). Two layers makes them very protective and my thin, weak nails get much longer than they do with regular polish. I let them set for 15-20 minutes before filing the excess off, and use a clear polish coat after a few days or if they start to look a little dull. I get around 10 days out of them, sometimes longer. I also wait for the woman who sells them to me to have sales, which she does a few times a year, and I buy a whole bunch, usually at around $8 each. The only con is they are a pain to remove, especially the ones with shimmer or glitter. Takes a long time and lots of cotton pads and nail polish remover.

I appreciate you doing this video! I learned a lot from watching your frustration because that never should have happened, your stylist should given you a plethora of information before you even opened the pack. Now that you've had folks on here explaining how to apply them properly I hope you give it another chance. Solids are difficult even for seasoned users - glitters rule the world! One last tip - your hands should be free of oils and lotions. I noticed you used the cuticle oil during your prep - that will definitely affect the wear. I was told to wash my hands with Dawn before applying, and no lotions/oils 2 hours before and 2 hours after. Thank you again for the video!

Leigh, thank you for your sweet comment and your info! I have heard wonderful things about the glitter strips, and I hope others will give those a try for themselves as I did not review them in my video.😊 Personally, I do feel that Color Street isn't for me and my nail type. With shorter nails, I prefer press ons for myself, and feel those are more convenient. Of course, I hope that others will learn from my experience and make their own decision which I am very big on!🥰 Your comment was so lovely and encouraging, thank you so much for watching, Leigh!❤😘

I want to thank you for putting this honest video out there of your experience. I fell in love with the idea of color street and bought a ton of colors. I found glitter ones are much easier to apply because they hide any imperfections, like bubbles or creases. Solids are much harder to apply and I found they chip faster. You can get two manicures out of one set as long as you don’t make any mistakes with the application. So I am not sure how I feel about these. I’m so glad to find your honest review and yes you should not have pulled the tab off but you know that’s how we learn from our mistakes. Every other person on here is a consultant trying to sell you color street. Thanks again!!

Jen, 😍 you have no idea how much your comment means to me!😭❤ An honest review was exactly my goal, and I'm so happy you interpreted it that way! I did hear the glitter ones are easier to apply which I never attempted, and yes, what a fail with the tab!🤦‍♀️ I've definitely learned from my mistake, but my hope was for others to learn from my mistakes as well! Although I love the idea, Color Street is personally not for me, but I respect everyone's decision to choose for themselves! Again, thank you for your "thank you!!!" Lol It really meant a lot to me, and I appreciate you watching!🥰😘😘😘

I am not a Colorstreet stylist. I am a consumer of Colorstreet polish strips and other brands' products as well.
Part of the problem you had with puckering is that you chose strips that were too wide for your nail beds. You need to choose strips that fit without overlapping onto your cuticle or skin. A little gap is fine!
I also would have waited to put on cuticle oil until the end of the manicure. If you put it on too early your polish strips may have trouble sticking even if you do use the alcohol prep wipe.
Finally, pinching the strips at the fingertip is going to give you a bad result that may chip and peel prematurely. For best results stroke downward against the free edge of the nail until the strip separates easily.
It's not a complicated application process. You just need a little bit of practice to get it to go on smoothly.
    Have fun!

Hi there. I appreciate your review. Just a helpful suggestion for anyone wanting to try Color Street... after peeling off the clear protective film, lift the silver tab away from the paperback and peel the nail polish strip off the entire paperback (no ripping needed) then gently pull silver tab off. Place nail polish strip on desired nail avoiding the cuticle, rub from the cuticle to tip folding it just over the nail... from there, you can perforate with your thumbnail or file off excess for a clean finish. Color Street is made of 100% real nail polish in strip form and is 95% dry with a base, color and clear coat all in one strip. Cleaning hands as you would give yourself a normal mani, avoiding water or lotion for at least 10 minutes after application will help your nails last 7-14 days. Longevity of any nail polish is based on how long you allow it to dry and what you do with your hands on a daily basis. Hope this helps. :)

READ THE DIRECTIONS!! 1. Don't apply cuticle oil right before applying them 2. There is a tab right on the strip to remove them from the paper backing! There are directions right on the package.

PLEASE don’t let this video discourage you from giving these a chance! I would love to better educate on how these are used.
    1. The prices are: Solids $11, Glitters $12, Designs $13. All of those you can get a deal of buy 3 get 1 free. The French tips are $14. You can get a deal of buy 1 get 1 free with those!
    2. Peel the clear top off first, then the back. THEN you pop the silver tab off.
    3. Start with your pinky. Thumbs always last since they’re your tools.
    4. When you put solids on, make sure to pull the top ever so gently to get any bubbles/wrinkles out on the side.
    5. Don’t waste the rest of the strip. You can use one strip for 2 nails. You don’t need to cut them in half first. You apply the nail, then perforate at the tip and gently pull the rest away. You will have a whole other side to apply to your other hand.
Definitely give these another chance, as they can take a little practice to get used to. SO many women love these for a reason! Plus these can last 10-14 days.

Hey thanks for your encouragement, Elizabeth! 💕While not every product is for everyone, (I definitely wish my first experience was better from my consultant-though well intentioned and kind-to the short length of time they lasted), but I do believe there's room for improvement, and I want my audience to decide for themselves too as this was an honest first impression! ♥️ I appreciate all the info you put for others to see! I really wanted to love them!! Maybe I would try the glitter ones in the future... I hear those last longer.👍 Thanks again for watching, Elizabeth!!❤️

Cool Mom and Collected 👋🏼 Just wanted to say, if you put cuticle oil on right before application, they won’t adhere very well to the nail. Maybe that’s why they didn’t last as long as you were expecting. I’m also new to Color Street and I made that mistake as well when trying to apply to my toenails. The alcohol pad alone is not enough to get all that oil off. I had to wash with soap and water, then use alcohol again, and then they stuck very well, and lasted well also. You can use as much cuticle oil as you want after they’ve cured. The Color Street website says they will last up to 10 days (and I think I read elsewhere 7-10). I’m only on my fist solid, so I’m not sure how that holds up compared to glitters, but the last glitter set I wore still looked really good after 9 days, almost no wear at the tip of the nail. At that point though, there is enough empty space between the cuticle and color (due to nail growth) that you would want to change them out anyway. I was lucky enough that I found a really good video on how to apply correctly and easily before I put on the first set. If you ever decide to try these again, I would suggest exploring a few videos first, or having a friend who’s good at applying show you how. Liquid nail polish won’t stick to my nails for anything, immediately peeling or chipping the next day, so I was pleasantly surprised with how well the Color Street nails worked for me. Such a bummer that you had a bad first experience. If you ever try again I would love to see a second chance video!

    • @CoolMomandCollected

Thank you so much Sarah for this sweet and informative comment!! ❤ I hope your positive experience does help anyone else that may be trying them! I've heard the glitter does stay on longer, but I also believe my short nails just don't make Color Street the best for me because application to short nails were very difficult among a few other things. I actually tried and reviewed imPress nails and those worked way better for my short nails, and lasted much longer! Again, thank you, and I'll make a video if by some chance I ever tried them again!!!!😘

You did it so wrong!! You should have read the instruction in the packet WITH the diagram! Lol
You remove the top coat. I believe it says "lift here" and then again lef the silver tab.... its a breeze if you do it the way the instructions tell you!

    • @CoolMomandCollected
      @CoolMomandCollected  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for your comment, April! I DID read the instructions and the diagram prior to using. If you read the comments, there are many other people that have tried Color Street, and struggled on a first time use. My hope is that any mistakes I made will help prevent others from doing so. 😊 Overall, my personal opinion with this honest review is that I really didn't like Color Street! I much prefer imPress nails, which I also reviewed in a video. Those worked better for me especially because I have shorter nails, and I'm a busy mom on the go! ImPress worked effortlessly and perfect for me time and time again, but Color Street didn't. Thanks for watching, April!❤

@@CoolMomandCollected, you don't need to cut them with scissors to get 2 out of one. It's a lot easier just to fold it over the first nail, using your thumb nail to cut the strip and use what's left on the second nail. Easy peazy!!!

Sorry but you also took the back strip off wrong too. Also, you are not supposed to use any oils or lotions before applying. They are definitely easier to apply to longer nails but glitters are the easiest to apply. Solids can be difficult. It takes some practice. You could have used 1 strip for 2 nails had you tried.

So...you struggled because you didn’t do them right still. I’m saddened that your stylist didn’t help you. You pull the clear top off first, then you pull the strip off WITH the silver tab...you don’t rip the silver tab and paper at the same time. You can also only pull the strip halfway off for short nails so that you are able to use it more easily....last thing, work from pinky’s inward...do pinky, pinky, ring, ring, middle, middle, etc...it probably would have helped to read the picture on the package. I’m sorry you struggled with it. They turned out great, but with everything...you have to actually read the instructions and use it right for it to work and be fast. I also watched an instructional video, and read directions, but clearly I must've still done something wrong because it was very frustrating.😔 Hopefully, my mistakes can help others as this is just an honest review and not a bashing of Color Street! ♥️I loved how they were already dry as a mama of two! Because you didn't do it the right way. Never do your thumbs until the rest of your nails are done. Never tear the tab until you peel the back off. This is such an unfair review due to you not knowing what you're doing. Like any other product, there is a learning curve. There are PLENTY of tutorials, you should have watched them and your cons would be non existent. My nails are just as short and they work fine for me.

Hey @katklass11!🙋‍♀️ I appreciate your passion because it shows you really LOVE this product, and I'm so happy that they have worked well for you!🧡 I do however think it's important to remember that we shouldn't assume that everyone will love a product just because we may. There are plenty of people who have executed Color Street correctly, and STILL do not like them. Ironically, I did watch a tutorial and read directions prior to making this video! I, like many others, don't expect to encounter issues, but mistakes can and did understandably happen! Not every product people spend money on has a learning curve because other products have worked better and easier for me personally than Color Street did on the first try, and thereafter. The goal of this video was to give my HONEST review of MY first time experience with Color Street to possibly help prevent someone else from making similar mistakes, or investing in a product that may not be right for them!❤ Regardless of our differing opinions, (which is normal for people to have lol!), I do appreciate you watching, and I wish you a wonderful day!🧡

@@CoolMomandCollected The reason you couldn’t get them off the paper backing is because you did it completely wrong, both times. It’s not a good or fair assessment of a product of you do not read and follow the instructions that come with the product and then say you dislike them because they didn’t work how YOU incorrectly used them.
You peel off the clear plastic from the strip. Then you peel off the paper backing (BEFORE tearing off the tab). You tore the paper backing and the tab, which is why you struggled.
