    I was 16 in 1976 and my last ever holiday with my parents and brother and sister, it was on a narrow boat and we crossed the aqueduct in your vlog, it’s when I first fell in love with the canals. It was a very hot summer and still brings me wonderful memories. Thank you for reminding me of them.

    Now that I've seen the whole video, I'll kick in with my feelings on the water tank.
    Filters will do the job, but at the expense of reducing the pressure and flow rate at the taps. This could be a problem for your washing machine and/or shower. Plus, since the source of the contaminants is still there the filters will need constant replacement.
    Perhaps consider getting a cheap inspection camera ($100 + CDN) to see how bad the tank's interior is to aid in your decision making process. The camera could come in handy for other jobs on the boat.
    Have a cup of non-rusty coffee.

      Ah I didn’t realise that about the water pressure. That’s something for us to think about then I think. Thanks David!

    Nesha 🤭 ! Is that really what she said Lol 😂.
    It’s lovely hearing the pair of you sharing a joke and having a giggle 🤭.
    So impressed with the pair of you and your one of the loveliest Couples as well.
    The picture of you Nesha was absolutely stunning and I really do think a picture of each of you and one together ( all framed ) would look pretty awesome when you’re finished with your Boat,when you think about it, you have both worked individually on her but the real incredible work is when you work together as a Team,yeah you will have pictures of each of you on your phones but there is something mesmerising about a real picture framed beautifully and in a Place of Pride in your Home.
    I used to work on the Railway infrastructure and the Viaducts and tunnels/bridges and aqua ducts are truly inspirational…. There built completely by Hand as no cranes around in those days ( steam driven pulleys) but no actual cranes 😳 all the scaffolding was made of wood and as was all the formwork etc, the most amazing thing though is how accurate they were with things like the Arches… there is literally a few millimetres difference between them !!!.
    It does seem like your water tank is full of sediment and possibly rust so you are probably going to be better off getting the Tank treated and sealed properly ( there are companies that do this and do a absolutely fantastic job,which is also guaranteed for a good few years ).
    Filtration is Good but also considering the UV exposure treatment is a great idea for peace of mind for the future ( the filtration system is perfectly safe for adults but I am not so certain about Children ! Something that you as a couple maybe considering for Your future ? ). It’s just Now is the time for putting those sorts of extra features in while you are building your Boat rather than trying to MAKE something fit 🤷‍♂️.
    I love the way Mike can turn his Head and Hands into a multitude of Jobs and do them Spot on… A man such as myself,if a job is worth doing,then it’s a job worth doing well ( And Proper 😉 ).
    Another Great Video of a Fantastic Place.
    Try the West Coast of Scotland,because if you liked Wales you will Love Scotland ( unfortunately no canals ) but it’s a beautiful place to visit and explore but you will need a couple of weeks to do it Justice and see a fraction of it there. ❤❤

      Yes we are definitely going to have to do some more research into the water tank and make sure it’s safe to drink from! Thanks for all the advice! And definitely will be framing some photos when the boat is done, photos certainly make a house (in this case, a boat) feel like a home 😊

    My sister lives near the aqueduct. It and Llangollen are my first ports of call to "recharge" when I get home. As an expat that hasn't been home for 5 years, I enjoyed this video! Thank you! I only wish they'd put some mesh on the bars to keep small kids and animals safer.

      Surely the parents should stop children jumping off or better still don't let children on there. Don't ruin it for everyone just because of bad parenting.

    Absolutely have to treat the rust because each time you use water and the level in the tank lowers, it will just rust more until it blocks all your filters or even floods your boat

    I used to live a few miles away from Llangollen. One of the last walks I had with my late father, it is a place of splendid memories. I did wonder if Mike was watching a cyclist "look at the size of the nuts on that..." What larks Pip, what larks.

    Great Vlog today. Treating the water tank question, if it was me I would as even though you are using a filter system as you say there is a risk of contamination from the tank condition fouling the fitration system and or any pump fitted. As good practice as it will also prevent any further corrosion from becoming worse if evident inside. Pain I know but do a job once rather than revisit later if possible 😊

    Having watched your vlog's for some time now, I can honestly say you two are the most level headed young couple on the canal. There are some young couples that stress out at every little thing, and that can be tiresome to hear over and over again. But you Nesha & Mike ~ plan, execute and move on with every project or adventure.
    Hope your time away was relaxing and renewing. Take care of yourselves, be well until we see you on the next one ~ 🤗💕Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾

    I confess, you guys are the second narrowboat channel (of 2) I subbed to after Ben & Emily. They recently went over the aqueduct in their boat and it was an ordeal for Emily as she is also afraid of heights. Mike certainly handled it better.

    Walking over the aqueduct holding the handrail is easy, boating over it and looking over the edge with no safety bar will be very different I bet. As for the base units being the same height each side? Surely, even on a tilt, the height from the floor should be constant? Or did not understand the issue properly?

    • @mike-driftwoodfolk2651
      @mike-driftwoodfolk2651 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yes two very different things. Can't wait to one day be able to take the boat over. As for the base cabinets ... I measured about 10times either side and they are out by about 10mm but they are now parallel to eachother so weve left them at that. Just so when you spin around with a plate of food they are the same height so you don't flip your plate haha don't know why the measurements are off but both sides are now parallel thank goodness ha

    Don't use the level while the boat is in the water it's only good for a straight edge tape measure is your friend.

      @mike-driftwoodfolk2651 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment ... The level was for getting it parallel but also I know that the floor is slightly out so ive made sure that it's the same and parallel and i gotta say the measurements are spot on

    I've watched all of your videos and I know neither of you is wimpish in the least. But freaking out over a harmless insect? And it's not even on your own clothes but on Mike! Nesha, you must get a grip.
    I've done the Pontcysyllte on a narrowboat, where the side of the channel is below the level of your deck, and it's scary and amazing. But best is to go over it in a kayak. You are much more intimate with the structure, and you can put your arm over the side and look all the way down. Also, if you do the Langollen in a kayak at blackberry time, the harvest is mind bogglingly good. Only the kayakers can get at the lowest fruit!
