  • SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners.
    The Kadey Krogen 48 North Sea is rugged looking and has an appropriate stature with a tall bow that will cleave the waves and offer a dry ride in most sea conditions. Wanderer’s Rest has been optimized and cared for to be enjoyed as a comfortable getaway platform.
    With her graceful sweeping lines, pronounced bow and rugged profile, you can tell just from her looks that Wanderer’s Rest is an offshore capable yacht. Very few trawlers are as ideally suited for extended cruising as the Kadey Krogen 48 North Sea design.
    She has a popular widebody saloon/deck arrangement which merges forward through the galley and below to a spacious two stateroom, two head arrangement layout. On deck she is topped with a raised pilothouse and flybridge for underway operations and enjoys good outdoor living space forward, aft and aloft.
    With “go anywhere” range, the 48 glides through the water and provides a true “at home on any sea” waterfront traveling platform just as her builder advertises. Her second owners have enjoyed her for over eight years and now Wanderer’s Rest is offered for sale in cruise-ready mode.

    Great boat, looks like it just came from the factory. Like the light bright contemporary look of the interior. I bet it is a boat anyone could live on for a long time.

    The Kadey Krogen 48 is the best boat and so comfortable to live on. They are solidly built, fully capable of crossing oceans but also absolutely comfortable at dock. It is really like a floating house! Good luck to the new owners when they find this boat and know that you are joining a great community of owners!

      I thought that too - and we are on a KK48 but then I noticed the hooks the owner has on the bifold door that does not allow it to fully open. The doorway was at least 3” smaller because of that.

    You mentioned it 3 times, but it bears repeating, the headliners on Kroger’s of that vintage are great looking. It was interesting to see the 48 at Trawlerfest next to an N50. The Krogen felt much larger, but I am still a Nordhavn man. Seems like the difference between a Land Rover and an Escalade, one can appreciate both. Best, Maldwin

      Maldwin: Great seeing you in person this week. Two great brands, and the 2000 Nordhavn 50 compares well with a much newer Kadey Krogen 48. Wonderful decision if you are making a choice between a Kadey Krogen and a Nordhavn!

    Look for a 50% reduction in price in order to move it. MINIMUM. Sorry guys, the seller is late to the game - it's fire-sale time now.

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Chris: Doesn't seem to me that your comment is grounded in reality, no seller of a boat as nice as Wanderer's Rest would consider that type of price reduction, they would keep it. Maybe you are looking in the wrong category of boat if you think that prices have crashed that dramatically. Our experience shows it is still a seller's market, slightly shifting, and most buyers are just pleased to find a quality boat, certainly aren't expecting a fire-sale. Hey, you can say whatever you want, but the people on this channel know the truth. Thank you for watching

      Claus: Thank you, she really is an ideal "go anywhere in the world" platform. For under 50', the engine room machinery space provides enough room to inspect and service. A lot depends on your physical dimensions, if you are "tall" or "wide" it makes it more of a squeeze.

    Darn, such a beautiful boat but I sure wish the engine room was taller. Obviously, it's not bad. Add in twins and there is no room. Has this been changed on the newer versions?

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Kirk: The engine room for the KK48 remains the same. There is more room on the bigger Kadey Krogen's (many are twin). Being able to fit is important for service and inspections, all a matter how much room you need and if it's too tight, you need to go up a size.

    Sorry, but these are not very well-made. We had one come in for minor fixes and a bow-thruster install. To fix a faulty wiper motor I had to totally rebuild the cabinets. They were partical board, then covered with a thin glued on layer, with no consideration given to access to the wipers at all. Hot-glued, too.
    Then when we began the cutout for the bow thruster, we found the forefoot and keel to be filled with just sand..no structure but what may have been formed by laying it up over that sand..
    General it looked nice but after working on one I'd be reluctant to take one anywhere.

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don: That is a very general comment that does not in any way reflect my experience. Which model was this? Are you sure it was a Kadey Krogen? How old was it? Maybe the owner really let it go, but these boats are so well built I'm really struggling to understand what you encountered.

    • @dhanso928
      @dhanso928 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeffMerrillYachts The comment is actually quite specific as to what we found during it's time on our railway.
      This was long ago. Krogen was new to the US at the time. If I remember correctly I think the dealer brought that 48(?) in to the yard near Tacoma, Washington.
      You are current with the Krogen.. hopefully they've improved, but at that time the main selling feature was price! They were much cheaper than the other boats.

    Interesting, what is the typical “wet exhaust” John Deere lifespan before overhaul.

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Better to ask a Deere representative, but they are in the 10's of thousands of hours of useful life with proper care and maintenance - the wet vs. dry exhaust lifespan should be comparable for the engines

    Wow those range figures show the full displacement quandary shall we say?
    2 miles per hour faster means you cut the range into less than half...

    • @JeffMerrillYachts
      @JeffMerrillYachts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris: The range figures are from Kadey Krogen, the builder. A long range full displacement trawler is meant to have economical range with the standard tanks. It is important to verify your trawler before you set off on a large adventure. Knowing your speed and fuel burn at various rpms is essential information. The numbers provided are generic, but should be reasonably close.

What type of trawler are you looking for? Look at this differently, there is a lot to learn and you can compare information by viewing different boats. It doesn't have to be for sale to be useful.
