You take the role of a young writer in search of an affordable place to live while working on the next novel. You have come across an advertisement for a very cheap apartment that is owned by an elderly woman who lost her daughter a few years ago. In this area, many people have gone missing, and the locals consider the place to be cursed.
During your first night in your new apartment, a massive storm causes the electricity to go out, and you feel the presence of something evil watching you from behind. There are strange screams coming from the elderly woman's apartment, and you feel the need to go check out what it is all about.
Uncover the mystery behind this cursed place, the missing people, and the horrifying truth about the elderly woman in this chilling story.

These days I think there is more chance of me swimming across the Pacific ocean in a pair of cement clogs than an indie horror game not featuring either fuse puzzles, looping hallways or mannequins lol.
While being a 1st person game.
Recently I had myself thinking why the indie horror games love scares mannequins so much

Not a bad game. It only lacked a few things: A child's ball bouncing down the steps, a ventriloquist's dummy, flashlight batteries, walking down the same hallway 27 times, a clown, and the ability to run like hell. Otherwise it was fine.
I always assumed if a horror game doesn't let you run, it just meant the MC is stoic af and refused to feel scared lol
Well, at least we had Mary Shaw from Dead Silence. No dummy dolls sadly.
And, because its psychological horror(?), you killed the witch's daughter but forgot (for some reason)

This game takes the 'walking' part of 'walking simulator' very seriously (and sometimes 'crawling'). I quite liked it though.

The cat was the best part! I loved how the dev made the cat stretch after petting it; very realistic and cute
Her dancing by the piano was a nice touch. As you said, the walking was a bit too slow. but other than that it was pretty good. I liked it.
do you know what's the worst part? the apartment WAS FINE. i mean considering how nowadays it's so difficult to get your own house i think i could get well with the lady/demon/whatever so i could keep my own place 😂 At least it's not lonely! hahaha However, it'd like to know how the lady keeps renting the apartment; sounds like a covert business like seriously someone should investigate not only for the people that disappear but also i don't think it's legal to keep rent that place; besides it's violating a number of safety, health and sanitation regulations. hahahaha well i hope at least the cat was right 😢

The way this one ended made me wonder if there was an alternate ending where you could actually destroy the doll.. at least there should be if there isn't one. Good game though.

There’s this game you need to try called FLATHEAD. It’s a Lynchian take on the game of over or under, but it’s very abstract and very unsettling. Also, I should mention that there’s NO AI voice acting in that game.

I mean, even in real life, the police will completely neglect to look at things they REALLY should look at it, especially in areas like the apartment complex seems to be set in, seems like it's a less well-off area. It's how murderers have been able to get away with things, sometimes for years, because the police didn't check something they should have. So police not checking an apartment complex where people keep going missing? Not a surprise.
I think you’re mixing up fiction and reality. Law enforcement always check places that they should… it’s how anything gets solved. However knowing something and having evidence or witnesses of something are completely different things. They don’t broadcast every move they make… ya know , so they don’t lose persons of interest. Murders getting away with things has more to do with ppl knowing how to get away with things or cover them up… and the vast amount of places anything can be happening. Law enforcement literally lay their lives on the line daily… for the rest of us to stay safe in our homes… and you will never know 90% of the work they do that’s kept you safe. You don’t know what you’re talking about .
@@blarmy827 Honey, I've dealt with ACTUAL police on multiple occasions who either missed something important because they didn't want to check where they were meant to or have let people go for things they should've been locked up for INCLUDING FUCKING ATTEMPTED MURDER, so yes, I DO know what I'm talking about. Police are humans and as such can and do develop and act on bias.

When you said this was a psychological horror game, I kept waiting for the twist that you murdered the witch's daughter...glad to see it breaking the mold, even if it was still a walking simulator.
This was a nice game, I just wish there was maybe one more character so we get one that's killed and one that actually has a chance to escape. It's a game after all.
For a Walking Sim for the most part its pretty solid, but my big complaint is it really relies to much on Jumpscares. While none really got me, a lot of them where pretty good, but there really need to be less so the atmosphere can really build and even lead to players dropping their guard down which result in the Jumpscare give its proper effect. Also will give added props that the developer put some effort in taking the Horror Engine and tweaking it a bit, but one thing that annoys me is this game along with others really like use that static screen effect when something cuts out of the scene... I mean nothing suggest this game is Found Footage and nothing in the story suggest the Ghost used VHS Cameras or something so why are we seeing that TV static effect other then it was what came with Horror Engine.
I was just wondering why these jump scares, while a bit too frequent, were so much more effective than many other games?

Slow but fun. Some great jumps.
I have mixed feelings about this one : it's not bad, but the character moves so slowly it's outrageous and kinda sucked all the tension out of the game for me in the second half. I started getting bored, thus skipping ahead every time the character was walking, basically. There are some great jumpscares, but that's basically all the dev relies on, because the story is utterly predictable. An okay game, elevated by Chris' commentary as always.
The rocking chair jump scare made me actually yelp. Scared the hell out of my dog too.
The one jump scare nearly made me fall off my chair last night 😂 as I was watching this. My soul left my body and its still making its way back. Great video but my god the walk in this game was killing me 😂

the protagonist has their legs tied together. thats the twist and why they walk so slowly. and they have a tv instead of a head. boom, solved it.
Either that or they are elderly and can only walk at the speed of a snail

‼️Late to comment but I totally agree about the game over using jump-scares! This game I feel like was using jump-scares really well until after the rocking chair jump scare about halfway through. That one was really really good. And it worked because it built up tension, it built up suspense for quite a while BEFORE. Previously the jump-scares were few and far between first half of the game. And thats what made that one so effective. But after that they started adding in the jumpscares too frequently and it became irritating instead.
It seems like most indie game developers have a problem with throwing in jump-scares and thinking that makes their game scary. They rely on them INSTEAD of focusing mostly on building up the story and atmosphere. They ruin their own game and make it not scary.

Having lived briefly in low income housing, affordable is good, and after a while, you either become numb to the dreariness or you learn little ways to brighten it up on a budget.

so yeah, got this in mind you guys. a very cheap appartment? must be haunted! a ghost, a witch or a witch's doll (sounds like all inclusive lol)
i think mannequins work well when theres the implication of them like, representing the prior victims? as opposed to just. mannequins. which i think this did pretty well. and the jumps were def well done, which i think was in part to the pacing. its both extra padded and, like you said, "i can understand your trepidation" pffft
