1st bike (owned) neglected chain for 12-13k miles 😂 . My chain fell off stopping at a red light. I was revving it going nowhere, look down and chain is sagging on the ground. Put it back on road home slow as a snail and 1k in service later and about $300 parts my bike is firing fine. Fork seals were leaking slowly, new chain, new sprocket, spark plug/ air filter, drain all fluids and replace ;). Safe to say Sir you are 100% spot on. Lived to learn about it 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Now I have a car that I dont care about and my oil change is overdue, my tires are almost smooth, three of four stab links are loose, and my brakes are about to grind and I am going on a 2 hour road trip with it.

Maintenance records aren’t hard to retain and typically a clean individual has a clean vehicle. Retired or Active military are usually great folks to buy vehicles from, great pride in ownership and usually very clean vehicles.

High mileage does matter... A lot of service manuals make no mention of major engine parts serviceability and the majority of mechanics don't do all the rigorous checks to identify as servicing costs go through the roof and they don't get as many customers.
I'm talking valves/seats/springs, cam journal wear, assorted bearing (trans/crank/etc).
So a balance of mileage and maintenance is the best test for how much money that second hand bike will cost you. Just because it looks new and shiny on the outside, doesn't mean there aren't any gremlins on the inside!

If I only purchased products from people I would trust with my dog I would be walking the streets naked and starved... with my dog. My hair is often discheveld cause curls and helmets mix too well. But I intrust my bikes with my life and I like speed; theyre all top shape and maintained, Trust what you see and look at everything, that's my advise. In any production liquid cooled bike, maintenance is more important than the style. I think you just see more high mileage touring bikes because of what they were meant to do and the demographics that buy them.
I've seen an fz09, with 180k miles on it without any serious work. Just basic filter/fluids, spark plugs, valve checks, and maybe a couple clutch packs. Modern bikes will last if you treat them right.

Who cares what the people look like, dress, or groom themselves? That is silly. Mechanics are not all known for cleanliness for example, but I trust their personal vehicles or bikes are done right if they are selling them. Nothing beats a good old fashioned thorough vehicle inspection. Period. Know what to look for or take it somewhere you trust.

what I have learned is bike type, person type, fluid types put in (cheap 7/11 oil vs. OEM/high end sport racing fluids), mods, and tires (cheap Walmart vs Cycle Gear) like I ride a BMW RnineT and I've put about 12000 miles in 4 months (bought used with 300 miles) I do lots of touring and just joy rides. I've done all required services either early or right on the mark. I never use anything less than OEM or performance fluids. when I top off on gas I only use 91 or 93 BUT the gas station must have a certified top grade fuel mark at the pumps. I prefer Cheverton gas so if possible I will be picky and use Cheverton gas even if I have to travel an extra mile or 3. I plan on doing 2 performance mods a new exhaust system and high air flow filter. then cosmetics platform pedals for the long touring, bar miorrs for looks, a rack for luggage, and a vinyl wrap for a cool anime design. I put on a quality sports touring tire. If I was selling my bike I would definitely buy from me. my maintenance ends at 24,000 miles. I have learned if the owner was just HALF as anal as I am most motorcycles and cars would basically run forever that's why you have these 60 year old guys that still have their first car or like old cb400s or BMW RK60s for the 60s and 50s still running they maintenance and took care of their vehicles like a child.

Always check the vehicle theyre not selling eg their car in the drive way next to the bike. Easy way check their tyres for uneven wear. If they aint getting a wheel alignment, I aint buying their bike.

Im a freak, my house is a mess bc i just dont really have ppl over. My bike is always clean and I always do maintenance on it. It has 4k miles and looks brand new bc im always washing it. Already have the oil ready for the 5k service, but looking at my front porch w all the tools out front youd think i treated the bike like shit. Unless you saw it by itself. It looks like a clean freak owned it

Have a mechanic check it out for $100. I am very familiar with ICE vehicles. I checked the oil, chain, radiator,, etc. I was ready to buy but sent over to mechanic. Bike threw some codes. Bike had burned valves.

I get what you're saying about the seller represents the potential bike you want to buy but this video went off the rails. If someone asks me about my relationship with my parents when buying my used goods. I'm walking away as the seller. This is entertaining but completely ridiculous. I was hoping for some real advice about purchasing a high mileage bike as I'm considering do just that. I appreciate your style of video creator but a little more on-topic content would have been appreciated.

I love that Whitney shaves her balls with manscape 😆.
She makes many good points. When I look at used motorcycle I look for ones that have been ridden regularly buy the current owner for most of its life. Usually they take care of their motorcycles and are upgrading or are retiring from riding and having owned and put miles on the bike shows it's been a good overall motorcycle. I don’t shy away from a "high mile bike" that has had it's fluids regularly ran through it as much as a 5+ year old bike with a few 1000 miles that probably will have dry(ing) seals/gaskets that will cause more headaches down the road.

Here in the UK mileage is a huge deal. The annual average is 3000 - 4000 miles. Take your bike into a dealer with more than that and you'll literally pay the price. They want you to buy them but using them for the purpose they are designed for is a cardinal sin. No No. They're supposed to spend most of their lives in garages being polished, and only going out on sunny Sundays to the local park & pose venue.

Depends on the bike. A Ninja 400 (or almost any 300cc like the R3 and CBR500R) are meant for normal riding and commuting. The Supersports are strictly for the track and not for the street. It's like driving an Enzo Ferrari at that point.

Great video, for real...but did we really need her to endorse "Manscaped"? If so, then she needs to personalize it and not do like Y&S. For example, "my shiz used to look like an Arby's Cheddar Melt smushed into a barbershop floor...but then I discovered 'ChowdaScape..."

question, I been wanting a bike, and did A LOT of research into the 600cc naked bike category. I came down to wanting a cb650r. Perfect amount of tech for me, ABS/TCS/Slipper Clutch and a cable throttle! Where I live, no dealer can get me one shipped unless it’s to Oahu, the next island over.(Hawaii) Just so happens a guy on craigslist posted his 2019 cb650r 7k miles SC Project exhaust, Single seat w/fairing, sato racing rearsets and a “tail tidy”? He’s asking $8k and from the pictures it looks pretty dam clean like-new. Haven’t seen it in person yet so I can’t speak for the oil/fork seals/tires. From your biker knowledge is 8k worth it? Or should I try offer him $7.5-7k? I priced out a brand new 2023 on an Oahu dealer and they quoted me at $11k out the door, but then I’d have to ship it back home myself. What’s your opinion? Is used or new the way to go?

25k on a bike is nothing if even maintained less then optimum however does matter at 40k+ At this point agree owner's care most important.I think most important for engine is timely oil change...rest can be repaired

I also change my oil/filter every 6 months, clean my chain at least once a month and lube it at least once a fortnight (usually more often)
My bike absolutely gets more tlc than I do😂
