@@NonstopDan Being my national carrier and an experience I have enjoyed myself I was super excited for this video but at the same time nervous as some other reviewers give BA such a hard time. I am so glad you enjoyed the flight. I loved my time on a 777 in F with BA. Did you try the champagne? I know you aren't a big drinker but the LP Grand Siecle is divine. Forgot to say for me you can have the best hard product in the world but if you don't have the crew to back it up it is worthless. I was so lucky with the crew I had, they were falling over themselves to help my wife who was pregnant at the time. Best crew I have ever had!
Hey Dan! Love the content as always! Know you're probably super busy with traveling and editing and such, but I'd love your feedback on a short aviation video of mine I shot. I've looked up to you for a while and it would mean the world if you gave it a glance :) th-cam.com/video/bANak97ZBac/w-d-xo.html
Adam D I agree, the club world configuration is weird, as you don’t have any privacy, yet tons of leg room. Maybe they could change the configuration for club world just to make it less awkward looking! 😂
Lukas, you're so right! We fly business simply because my other half is 6 foot 6 but having done first class with BA on the Denver to London route, I was greatly underwhelmed... the seat was dirty, not "someone just left" dirty but "years of neglect" dirty. I highly recommend Cathay Pacific.... ,
A lot of people mock British Airways First Class and to be honest, the seats definitely lag behind a lot of their competition, but it is still a really nice product. Flying in a 747 is also an amazing experience! Glad the crew was so great!
I fully agree, although I must admit, having flown BA 1st to South Africa a couple of years ago, A380 outbound and 747 back, the A380 has a bigger personal space due to it not being in the nose.
I agree in that first class is still nice, but BA first class is equivalent to a regular business class seat on other airlines. Their business class is awful! Can't believe they can get away with it...see Dan's review.
@@NeilsCarsAviationTravel yeah I’ve flown first on the 747 and A380 to Vancouver (they operated the A380 in the summer) but my favorite has to be the 787 first
I feel like BA gets so much unnecessary stick for their products. Honestly if they altered the ying yang formation in business class to all isle access, and added a sliding door to first, they would definitely become the/one of the best in Europe. Great video as per tho Dan, thank you!
EcSight Games To be honest, I think heathrow airport ruins the BA experience, its crowded and the lounges are to full. But BA first is a great Business Plus! And its never going to be a real first, because the whole ground experience is nothing. Just check out the LH First where you get picked up with a S-Class from a remote gate and get driven to the Lounge with own security and customs. And they will pick you up if the connection is tight at a normal gate and they always are waiting for you at the arrival airport to race you through customs and immigration. First needs to be consistent and on the ground it needs to be perfect!. BTW I love the design of the BA First in the 787!
In short: The ground experience needs to be improved to be a true great First Class. The Seat its self is actually pretty comfortable to sit and sleep in. I personally think the doors wont make the overall experience better
Boeingdude2 a door would add the true privacy people want like Dan said, and tbh I have respect for the people working in LHR. It’s so mad because it’s huge, and it’s one of the only major airports that has been built up, not all put in at once like the mega airport going into Dubai for example. Operations from airports like city airport or other airlines that operate from small base airports just can’t be compared to the operations of LHR by BA.
BA gets stick for all the right reasons. Their business class on long haul flights is way over packed in that nasty 2-4-2 layout. Their Club Europe product is in a 3-3 layout the same as there euro traveler cabin. As of now BA's hard product is horrible. BA needs to match what its partner American Airlines offers for its hard product.
EcSight Games The true Business Traveller flying First, does not really care so much about a door. They want a smooth and exclusive ground service. When I fly in LH First a woman guides me through the airport and security at a foreign airport, in FRA they take me to the First Class Terminal and take me in an S-Class to the Plane. In MUC the also pick you up and drive you. (Same for SWISS in Zürich) As I flew BA First, they did nothing and the Concorde Room is nothing special at all, Its like a Lufthansa Senator Lounge. BA used to be a better airline!
Hey Dan, worth saying that having flown BA First on the A380 and 777 - and the hard product on the A380 is so much more spacious and private than on the 777/747 version. AND they are relaunching the soft product this month, with improved catering and new amenities, incl even better bedding and designer pyjamas. So seems positive that you liked the version from an old plane and older soft product..
Hey Dan, I totally agree. The first time we flew BA 1st SFO-LHR the product was ok and actually value for money as we got it in the BA sale - but it was the crew that made the flight. They were just amazing!! Glad you had the same experience - watch out for BA's new business class later this year.
Flew First Class, in the nose of a BA 747, in 2000 as a 10-year-old, LHR to LAX. The seat configuration was better back then - I was able to stare directly out the window. I sat in the second seat (2K), and remember being upset I couldn't sit in the very first seat (1K) even though it was empty.
It’s true that the seat is more like a very nice business class seat compared to the competition. But the prices also reflect that; First on BA is often priced just a little higher than Business Class on competitors, and much lower than First Class on competitors. Sometimes there are some really good deals in First Class, which other airlines don’t tend to do.
I flew BA to Cape town with my boyfriend who was also working on board and i unexpectedly got a seat in club (business class) instead of a jump seat lol and was the best experience I've ever had. Was my first time on the 747 and I'm doing it again with my bf to Johannesburg. Love the video and every one you do. Keep up the good work!
The crew on British Airways is always delightful. I was once flying BA business from Oslo to London, and the crew took the time to give me, my sister and our best friend a tour up front of the cabin and even organised a tour of the cockpit (we were 17 and 16 years old at the time, so they could tell that we were a bit younger than the rest of the business passengers). I have heard people say that the service is inconsistent, but every time I’ve flown them (which is quite often) they’ve been delightful.
I've flow BA First class in seat 1A on a 747 and I had a very similar experience. Delicious food, excellent service (with hot towel!) and very comfortable seat.
I’m Cabin Crew for easyjet and I’ve lived in the U.K. all my life. British Airways is the absolute golden goal to work for and absolutely the biggest brand in the U.K. one day I hope to Crew for them!
Nice. If BA first class is far from the best first class in the world, what is, Emirates? Sorry if I missed that but I didn't catch it if you gave a single 'best overall first class in the world.' Singapore Airlines or?
The way you explained where in the hierarchy of airlines' products BA First is by comparing it to where MK is amongst other designers has just made you world's best teacher without even being a teacher. Like, please teach me maths by talking in airline and brand terms. And besides that, it is so, so spot on!
Great video. As someone who grew up flying BA due to my father being an employee, and it's still my preferred choice, I was dreading seeing which way you'd go with this this, but glad you saw the important things for what they are and had a great experience. I think, to many, there is a new class of travel that has evolved over the years that unfairly now seems to be the benchmark of first class which in turn gives BA a bad rep. I still see BA first as being just that, first class. Why isn't it? But other airlines have created this beyond first, or superior / elite class...
Simon Smith you are right that others have moved to elite level. Tbh most business class offerings now are better than first used to be 30 years ago. BA is my flag carrier and I’m sad that the bean counters have made their short haul no better than LCCs - I used to choose to pay more LGW to EDI but now there is no difference between BA or EasyJet on this route (in fact EasyJet have newer planes = better leg room with new slim seats)
Just last week I had my first flight on British Airways (Cityflyer) and I must say I was impressed with the experience. Even though it was just a short one hour flight, I wanted to see what both cabins were like so I flew one leg in Economy and one in Business. Both were very good. Sorry Lufthansa but your crews need to step it up again.
I flew BA first a few years ago; it was my first First Class flight ever. I think it is a really good product. The lack in hard product is made up by the soft product and service. My flight attendants on all three flights were great, and the food and amenities very nice also.
It really is iconic. I remember as a British university graduate when they did their milk rounds, every graduate wanting to work for them. I’m not sure today. I hope so. They still have a lot to offer.
I flew BA for the first time in 2019, and after my family said they were racist (im a first gen Indian in the US) and they were shitx and after flying Emirates for like 4 years, the 3 flights (LHR-HYD-LHR-JFK) were incredible. Although we had some trouble in the beginning and the 1st flight being cancelled (idk why and we got rebooked on AA), the entire journey had incredible crew and service. WT+ on the 788 and 744 (first time on both) and CW on the 788 if any of y'all are wondering. But to your comment of the crew, i don't think thats an anomaly. I had 3 of the best crews I've ever had, and they were so damn nice. Hell, I told one of them I was an avgeek and he got me into the cockpit of a 788. Loved the pilots and the FAs. I really think BA is an airline that people want to work for and are extremely happy to do so, and take pride in it. Thats what I think makes them so damn great
I am a little ahead of you on the go arounds having had 9 lol. Enjoyed your review and glad you enjoyed the 747-400. My preferred seat on a 747 is row 1, you can actually see ahead as the first window is in the curve of the nose
Evan J Trying to think my first one lol. Think it was on a BMI A320 coming into LHR in bad weather. Most spectacular was one coming into Gibraltar on a Gib air A320 which had most of the pax screaming. Needless to say all landed ok. PS have also crashed in a plane but that was on a military aircraft which lost its engine. Heavy forced landing with damaged undercarriage but all in one piece
@@davidcorbett8125 Remind me not to fly with you haha! Yeah GIB is a trip, quite famous for keeping the airsick bag suppliers in business. I've never flown into GIB but I did walk across that runway on foot -- I have a great pic of me standing in the middle of that runway. Dan thinks 20 is old for a plane because he's barely passed two decades himself haha. About 8 years ago, I was on a Delta DC-9. I googled the tail number and it was first certified in 1976 which made it a fairly old bird even then. Cool to see a classic cockpit layout. Fun part was we nearly didn't get off the ground because a warning light kept coming on (according to the captain). Nothing instills confidence like an old douglas at the end of its lifecycle :) I survived that one.
@@davidcorbett8125 Oh the oldest commercial plane I flew in (that I know of) was in 2017: a DeHavilland Otter float plane built in 1956. Radial engine and all. Who knows as far as jets go? I guess that depends on how you count it? Age of the plane at the time of flight, or age in the grand perspective? I've been flying since the early 80's, been on plenty of DC-9's, DC-10s, L1011s, 727s, 737-200s, 757s, etc -- possibly even a 707 (though I don't remember if that's true), that said, they weren't as old then as they would be now. That DC-9 in 2011 was pretty old in the grand scheme for a pressurized jet -- it reminded me of how I remember flying was 20 years earlier (a bit louder, more mechanical, bumpier, minus the smoking).
Lucas Diaz 🤣😂simple he probably just did the kangaroo hop hop kind of watching & that's ok. He's just fast & quick bc there are more lining up or just plain busy.
Will you be flying thief brand new business class on their new A350 fleet arriving in July? All seats with direct aisle access and a full privacy door!
Thanks so much for this review! You inspired my wife and I to try out our first long-haul flight in first class. Just booked our LHR>ORD flight in BA First on their A380 this summer :) Keep up the good work!
I always made sure I booked my business trips on the 747 or the 767, now followed by the 777. They really are the best three when it comes to business or first class seating, and if your lucky enough to get an empty section the staff really do usually go way out of their way to make you right at home. I recall having stewardess"s coming and actually chatting for over an hour or more because their was no one else they needed to attend to. Cheers,
Great review Dan, thank you! I flew from LAX with BA in First on their A380. It was very good indeed. I will now try it on their 747 before they phase out the 747. Thank you again!
I get British Airways have stepped up their game? Gonna fly on their A320 on Friday. Also I’m goin to Heathrow for the flight as well yeet Flew on their A320, good flight but food and stuff were extremely overpriced. Inconvenient as they only accept card but luckily I bought card.
Switzerland is supposed to be the country of hospitality but I lived there for a year and the people are absolutely horrible. The UK takes the cake when it comes to hospitality. Absolutely amazing.
16:20 hmmmm he seems a bit high there, ohhhhhhh. lol Again you missed out the BA Amex cards ;) Both have higher bonus rates directly in avios. This was a great video and I enjoyed it greatly. We have our 1st First with BA coming up later this year using a BA Amex 2-4-1 voucher. I just checked the cabin and there are still some free seats if you fancy coming along with us LHR-HKG on 28th August plus you'd get to use the Concorde Room Lounge at LHR :D Totally agree that with BA the crew really make or break your flight and sounds like yours was amazing. Were you aware that a new First soft product is rolling out starting in literally a few weeks and a new seat has been picked I believe ( but like the new CW seat is under very tight wraps).
Please do British airways business class again cuz it’s a bit improved like the service and the amenities but the seat has obviously stayed the same but I remember you said that the economy is great but business is bad
A lot of airlines have begun to phase out their 747's for more efficient wide body aircraft like the 777 and the 787. Some airlines have 747's that aren't that old so they just keep them until they truly phase them out.
747s are built to last, so an "old" 747 will be safer than a "new" plane of another type (if they take good care the plane of course) The 747 has better cabin altitude than almost all planes (5200ft when the plane is flying at 35,000ft or 8.6 delta psi cabin altitude control card selected differential pressure for the technical guys/gals) The reason airlines retire the 747 is because of,well........money, the new twin jets are not as good as but they make the airlines more money and have the "prestige" of being a new plane. However we have the latest 747,the 747-8 which has the triple benefit of being more refined than the earlier 747s (I can tell you that the classic 747-300 is more refined than the 777-300ER, the 747-400 is even better!) Secondly it is a new and a proven aircraft at the same time, last but not least it will be flown by the same fine pilots as the 747-400 (same type rating)
Proof that plane age doesn't make a good cabin. However airlines tend to not care about their older planes.... However the 747-400 (as a plane) is just incredibly good
@@SimHustler Mine too, along with the 747-8 and 747 classic.Flew the 747-300 before. As a plane (not speaking about seats of interior, just the flying machine itself) the 747-300 is smoother, more refined and more comfortable than even the famed 777-300ER!
I feel bad that Qatar has better business class seats than BA first class. The cabin crew are the best on BA in my opinion but the seats don’t seem to be that good compared to other ones
One of the reasons I would like to travel BA First Class is just to see celebrities. With those seats it is difficult. Still, I doubt BA First Class could beat the BA trip I took once from Jamaica to the UK, travelling 2nd class on a virtually empty plane. The Stewardesses had very little to it seemed than make sure I was OK.
I believe that the BA's 747 pilots are the finest in BA due to the difficult airports they fly to and also the freedom they have to manually control the plane

I've had two TOGAs, first one was an Aero Mexico DC-9 coming into SAN back in 1994. I was 14.

Trying to think my first one lol.

Ahead of you again lol
I flew on a Bristol Britannia built in the early 60,s great aircraft
Nice video Dan! Keep up the good work
Jacob Gomez how did you finish lol?
Lol still watching it
Lucas Diaz 🤣😂simple he probably just did the kangaroo hop hop kind of watching & that's ok. He's just fast & quick bc there are more lining up or just plain busy.
Jacob Gomez at least you didn’t comment “first”
Another great vid!
Finally, another video! ❤️
Loved this review - I think you hit the nail on the head as I’ve consistently found this product to be good! you are so positive about the weather!!!
So you gonna make a video on the 737 max 8s ?
haha... they're grounded everywhere basically now.
Liv 4 Today why?
@@dariensegec Ethiopian crash

Also I’m goin to Heathrow for the flight as well yeet
Flew on their A320, good flight but food and stuff were extremely overpriced. Inconvenient as they only accept card but luckily I bought card.
Congrats on getting to 300k subs!
Michael Kors? Nonononono. Cheap flashy bags, and derivative clothing.
BA is more Burberry.
Ben Sherman.
BA is more Ryanair.
not even offering free food on shorthaul
Uhh... for free food on short haul, why not Club Europe?
world's 10, What a liar! You don’t know Club Europe gives free food!
Don’t disrespect Burberry like that.
Another great video. Thank you, Dan!
Well done as usual Dan!
You may think mood lighting is OTT but it has been scientifically proven to help reduce jet lag and help your eyes adjust when sleeping or waking.
flying in BA First transatlantic was such a treat! seat 1A and the service by an incredible crew! heavenly 7 1/2 hrs
When trying to ask for an upgrade how do you recommending going about that? Who do you ask? Any tricks you recommend?
Awesome video! Loved it the BA 747 still looks new from the inside. Can`t wait to see the special liveries on the BA 747`s in reallife!
Another fabulous review and great info.
Waited so long for this!
Looove your videos.
But if one travels in F, service is always goooood.
I think the best gauge of the airline is when i travel in Y.
The hard product on the B787-9 is just so much better. Flying First on the 747 again in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it. 😊👍🛫🥂
Switzerland is supposed to be the country of hospitality but I lived there for a year and the people are absolutely horrible. The UK takes the cake when it comes to hospitality. Absolutely amazing.
I'm curious what school you're going to and what major you're doing since you mentioned they don't have exams
As of now, are British Airways and Qantas the last airlines to use RR engines on the 747 passenger version?
i’ve been needing to see a review like this!!
can you pls fly Swiss on their 777-300ER in First or Business
I'm very curious as to what the issues are surrounding the 737 Max. Just a random comment.
let the expert deal with it till more info comes
@@aarnage2189 experts, but yeah, I've heard issues surrounding the auto pilot.
Problems with some new system and software called MCAS...puts the plane in a nosedive...
The first class on the a380 is no doubt better, but I really love the 747 too
BA First Class is one of the best Business Class product u can get out there 😉
16:20 hmmmm he seems a bit high there, ohhhhhhh. lol
Again you missed out the BA Amex cards ;) Both have higher bonus rates directly in avios. This was a great video and I enjoyed it greatly. We have our 1st First with BA coming up later this year using a BA Amex 2-4-1 voucher. I just checked the cabin and there are still some free seats if you fancy coming along with us LHR-HKG on 28th August plus you'd get to use the Concorde Room Lounge at LHR :D
Totally agree that with BA the crew really make or break your flight and sounds like yours was amazing. Were you aware that a new First soft product is rolling out starting in literally a few weeks and a new seat has been picked I believe ( but like the new CW seat is under very tight wraps).
Try the transatlantic a318 one
Love you attitude towards life and people
How is Turkey Bacon on a first class menu? Did they run out of Bologna?
I've always loved the Queen of the Skies! Nothing like it! Never phase them out, especially for the 737!😁😎
Great video Dan as ever
Please do British airways business class again cuz it’s a bit improved like the service and the amenities but the seat has obviously stayed the same but I remember you said that the economy is great but business is bad
I thought 747's were not flying anymore? Could you explain Dan? Maybe I confused the planes
Pamela Gru Some are still flying, however, most airlines still with the Boeing 747 such as Virgin Atlantic are thinking about retiring the planes.
A lot of airlines have begun to phase out their 747's for more efficient wide body aircraft like the 777 and the 787. Some airlines have 747's that aren't that old so they just keep them until they truly phase them out.
The BA 747 fleet is being retired/phased out slowly until 2022. BA have orders for the A350 and 777X lined up as replacements.
Oh man it feels more like a 747-8 on the inside! Super modern. This is amazin!
Proof that plane age doesn't make a good cabin. However airlines tend to not care about their older planes.... However the 747-400 (as a plane) is just incredibly good
@@supportmanualflying2224 The 747-400 is my favourite!
@@SimHustler Mine too, along with the 747-8 and 747 classic.Flew the 747-300 before. As a plane (not speaking about seats of interior, just the flying machine itself) the 747-300 is smoother, more refined and more comfortable than even the famed 777-300ER!
@@supportmanualflying2224 the 747 in general itself is a revolutionary plane. One of the safest and best in business :D
Nice flight! It’s only a dream for me to ever experience first class
I must say british airways has really upped their game and has some of the friendliest cabin crew in the skies i find even in economy class
The Michael Kors shade thooo 🤣🤣🤣
I feel bad that Qatar has better business class seats than BA first class. The cabin crew are the best on BA in my opinion but the seats don’t seem to be that good compared to other ones
Which airline would you most recommend for 1st class/business class (as long as there’s a full flat bed) for the value from the US to LHR?
Also which season(s) would you consider to be off -season for same flight?
BA knocking it out the park with he refurb cabin and getting better and better with all the soft product updating too. 🤙✈️
love your videos Dan!
I’m glad u loved it 😊✈️🇬🇧
Dan, you still have the British Accent, It's still there!! lol Awesome Video! :)
I find it amazing that you're already browsing the entertainment and you haven't even taken off yet :D.
omg, you make me this first class airlines into my bucket list
Flying the BA 747 in August, only ever flown the virgin one! Can’t wait!
I believe that the BA's 747 pilots are the finest in BA due to the difficult airports they fly to and also the freedom they have to manually control the plane
After your review of the a380 i wouldve expected this to be worse as its an older aircraft but im glad you liked it ld
Ps lots of love from the uk💖💖
I enjoyed this review, keep up the good work!
