Am I not weird? I do not have a Caravan. I watched and liked. :) Mark, If you will - Can you give me your opinion on after market catalytic converters? I have to probably put one in my wife's car. Shouldn't be hard but I m wondering about quality ones off places like rock auto.
Thank you for the video :)

Are you replacing it because the car uses oil and plugged it?

@@unclemarksdiyauto Hello, The car I purchased from my elderly mother who rarely drove it. It had 26k on it when we bought it. Its a 2007 Lucerne in excellent condition. However, Shortly after buying it we get the dreaded P0420 error. It doesnt appear to use oil. My wife said it sounds louder than her old car (2003 Chevy Malibu) but I think thats just a difference in cars. We drove the car to Gatlinburg, Tenn and it did really well. I cleared the error before the trip and added cat cleaner to the tank. Light came on later in the trip. I can only figure that possibly the cat died because she didnt drive it up enough to really warm it up and there is carbon build up. Either that or perhaps there is some exhaust leak? No rust anywhere on the car. So, In case I have to replace the cat I would of course not want to spend the money for an OEM cat and rather get an aftermarket one. However, I hear they are all kinda bad and will not last. I have no idea so I was just asking your experience - if any.

@@northpoint1039 I would suggest buying the factory unit from the dealer. It’s gonna be expensive but they last probably 5 times longer, will fit properly. No guarantees as to if aftermarket will. The factory ones by law have to last as certain number of years. Aftermarket have no requirements at all. They are crap! If your dumping the car, then go aftermarket & I hope if fits and works. If your keeping it, spend the extra money now. Otherwise you maybe replacing it again in a couple years. (Just my humble opinion)

@@northpoint1039 Just thinking… I would get a good tech to to confirm it’s the CAT first!
