This is a false representation: A1 through C2 represents English skill, new learners or people bad at the language are A1-A2, people who've been more invested in the language are B1, and second language people you can noticeably tell aren't proficient or make constant mistakes as second language learners are B2. C1 is native and C2 is when you study it professionally like at university.

According to this, you could learn C1 level English by hanging out with the guys in the streets. I think C1 level is more about complicated and academic levels of vocabulary and other things
The criteria for C1 under CEFR are
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer clauses and recognise implicit meaning.
Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices
So none of them really spoke enough to judge their CEFR level tbh
More broadly though, C1 is basically fluent, C2 is mastery of the language, and to be fair there's a lot of native speakers who haven't achieved mastery of it, so C1 is a pretty high level, on par with many average native speakers
@@frsamvimes9271many average native speakers haven't mastered C1 or C2

As a German, it's the same for me 😄
But I have to say...French is much worse than English, I mean, how many different pronunciations do you want to have? (Although there might be some kind of system, but way to complicated)
Yeah, no native speaker would ever say that either, lol
A 9 year old might say that 😂
Fr like ive never heard about "english rules" i'm b1 and b2
@@laisito Nah French is easy, I m learning for C1 but I did struggle a bit for B1 so... German for me is a completely different beast.
B2 sounded more natural than the C1. Yes, the phrases in C1 were good, but the pronunciation didn’t sound like a C1 level. Great video everyone!!
C1 isn't about sounding exactly like a native (as long as you pronounce decently so that people understand you)
That's stupid, being C1 doesn't mean absence of an accent, it's all about how much the guy can understand and be understood.
I’m on C1 level and when I speak english people always point out my accent. They understand me perfectly, but there is still the accent. Therefore levels aren’t based on accents, what’s important is how well you understand and pronounce weirds (pronounce isn’t same thing as accent)
I disagree on the C1 level a non native speaker would not even know some of these words and is more likely to leave gaps in their sentences and replace them with words from their own native language then to use street slang.
@@loveheals3173a non native speaker can for sure know all this words. Maybe you mean a beginner.

@@rupaliarora5005no-one in Australia says “to frick out”. It’s “freak out”. The word “frick” is used as a less-vulgar replacement to fuck.

Middle class comment...
Hi there, is this English of today?
So as a foreigner you can get away with saying teenager expressions and people will be impressed by your native-level fluency
Penso exatamente a mesma coisa
As the top commenter said, "speaking slangs and a proficiency level English are two way different things."
You can be proficient in informal language, but weak in grammatical, formal language. Though, to be fair, both informal and formal language can be considered fluent, so long as the speaker communicates casually. Those surely do show a certain experience speaking the language, but they're still different aspects of fluency. If you ask me which might be generally more impressive *and* useful for a non-native speaker, I'd say a broad vocabulary applied in perfect accordance with grammar.

Honestly we cannot say what's up in IELTS speaking because it is a street word. I do not know why C1 said it
No. It is better if you say it on İELTS. Please people dont assume that Ielts requires advanced words. In order to get high band, you should speak like English Native speakers. And They usually speak by using idioms and street words. It is even better if you say "I am gonna. I wanna" because that's how Natives speak. İelts wants you to speak like Natives. That's how Band9(C2) is achieved
@@rufatbabayev are you sure? Because I heard they are not allowed in IELTS.
@@similar6250 just listen to any ielts speaking at TH-cam and you will see that candidates use idioms and talk with natural language. The reason why İelts examiners hate very advanced words is because they know that you are not going to use these words in everyday life after this exam. For example, in England and USA people often say "gonna" "wanna" and idioms because these words are used on daily basis. Nobody uses words such as "vehemence" "condescension" "exasperation". For example, if you get furious and tell someone about your feelings will you say "I am angry" or "I am exasperated"? Of course first choice is correct because it is used among many people. This is why it is better to use simple language
@@rufatbabayev thanks for your advice bro. Where are you from?

C level does not mean speaking in slang. It means proficiency in using rich, accurate and adequate vocabulary to clearly and efficiently express your thoughts. It's knowing what kind of expressions, idioms, sentence structures and vocabulary to use in different social contexts.
